Chapter 480: Chapter 123: A Newcomer? Comes With a Basic Divine Format?
Passing through the Ice Soul Divine Stone City Gate, a wave of clamor far more intense than anything outside washed over them, completely shattering Qin Feng’s preconceived notions of the Divine Domain.
There was none of the solemnity and ethereal aura he imagined the Divine Realm would have. Instead, it was remarkably like a bustling main city in an online game from the Mortal Realm. The streets were packed shoulder-to-shoulder, and the air hummed with a mixture of Divine Power fluctuations and raucous noise, so lively it was almost Boiling.
What was even stranger was that rows of Gothic spires undulated through the golden clouds. On the stone walls, Divine Patterns flowed with the Power of Faith, refracting shimmering flecks of light in the sun.
But as his gaze drifted downward, the aesthetic shifted abruptly. On the bluestone-paved streets, retro-style motorcycles engraved with Defense Runes roared past, the sound of their wheels on the flagstones mingling with the distant chiming of a church bell.
The flame decals on the bikes complemented the Chain Armor worn by the Knights. Divine Fragments embedded in their helmets shimmered with a faint glow, perfectly merging medieval austerity with modern flamboyance.
The street-side shops took this fusion to the extreme. Beside the carved wooden door of a small, Gothic-spired cottage hung a Mortal Realm-style neon sign. Empowered by the Fire of Faith, the four words "Divine Realm Fast-Charging Station" glowed brilliantly. A medieval-style iron rack stood at the entrance, but it was filled with charging ports for modern electronic devices.
The shop’s owner wore a long robe with a Divine Staff tucked into his belt, but he held a touchscreen terminal in his hands, rapidly processing orders for "Divine Realm Motorcycle Maintenance" and "Fire of Faith Fast-Charging." On the shelves behind him, Knight Armor forged from Divine Iron sat side-by-side with modern tactical backpacks, their price tags all listed in units of "Fire of Faith."
In a nearby square, several Divine Realm guards in Plate Armor patrolled on Hoverbikes. The bikes’ exhaust pipes spewed a Powerful, pale-gold stream of energy that seemed to resonate with the runes on their weapons.
The fountain in the center of the square was a classic example of medieval Gothic design, with a statue of a War Angel holding a Longsword. However, the base of the fountain was fitted with a ring of LED lights, causing the water to change color in time with the rhythm of Divine Power. A few Ascenders in T-shirts and jeans were gathered around it taking selfies, their phone cases printed with a "Silver Moon City Limited Edition" Divine Pattern.
Even more astonishing was the "Divine Oracle Newsstand" on the roadside. It had a rough, medieval-style wooden structure, and its copper-tiled roof was covered in Divine Patterns meant to bestow blessings.
Yet on the shelves inside, alongside sheepskin scrolls detailing the secrets of the Divine Realm, were Mortal Realm-style magazines and e-readers. The owner was an old, long-bearded priest, yet he held a tablet and was busy updating the "Divine Realm Quest Board." A nearby speaker played a message on a loop:
"The latest Abyssal Dungeon guide is now available! Pay with Fire of Faith, scan the code to download!"
The "Holy Forge Workshop" at the end of the street was the most stunning sight of all. The building’s exterior was made of heavy stone walls with Gothic pointed-arch windows. A giant anvil sculpture, covered in Divine Patterns for forging, hung above the entrance.
However, the forges inside were not the charcoal-fueled furnaces of the Mortal Realm but electromagnetic crucibles powered by the Fire of Faith. Blue arcs of electricity leaped within them. Several blacksmiths, dressed in medieval garb with leather aprons, were using laser cutters and Divine Power welding torches to polish Divine Iron Longswords that were engraved with patterns resembling modern technology.
On a display rack nearby, medieval-style Knight’s Shields were displayed alongside Divine Power crossbows equipped with holographic sights. The defensive Divine Patterns on the shields perfectly complemented the energy circuits on the crossbows.
Even the roadside rest areas were full of fantastical contrasts; Gothic stone benches were covered with plush, Mortal Realm-style cushions.
The streetlights beside the benches were shaped like retro kerosene lamps, but their wicks burned with the Eternal Fire of Faith. Wireless charging pads were installed beneath the lights, and a few Ascenders were charging their Profession gear while discussing dungeon strategies over Bluetooth headsets.
Beneath a distant church spire, a massive electronic screen scrolled through Divine Realm announcements. The screen’s frame was carved with Angel reliefs, and the intertwining Divine Patterns and pixels created a landscape unique to Silver Moon City, a view that spanned dimensions.
One man, a follower of the King of War clad in Black Iron Heavy Armor and shouldering a giant axe, roared past on a heavy motorcycle that spewed pale-gold flames. The Divine Patterns on the bike were inexplicably harmonious with the engravings on his armor.
A few Mages in long robes gathered around a streamlined, floating car, pointing and murmuring. A decorative chain, solidified from the Fire of Faith, hung from one of its windows.
Some went even further, wearing simple T-shirts and jeans from the Mortal Realm, but with a dagger tempered from the fragment of a Divine Realm treasure tucked at their waist as they hurried through the crowd.
But what left Qin Feng and Su Mumu most dumbfounded was a medieval-style stone building on the street. A gilded sign reading "Divine Realm Internet Cafe" hung over the door. A faint blue light shone through the carved window lattices, and they could vaguely see that the inside was filled with LCD monitors, just like the ones in the Mortal Realm.
Moving closer for a look, they saw numerous Ascenders sitting in leather chairs, fingers flying across keyboards. On their screens were popular competitive games from the Mortal Realm. They were shouting things like, "Go, go, go! Get the dragon!" and "Stop feeding! Hold the line!" The Fire of Faith surrounding them flickered brightly and dimly with their fluctuating emotions. They looked for all the world like a bunch of teenagers addicted to online gaming, a sight completely at odds with their status as Ascenders.
"This... This Divine Realm is just too ridiculous, isn’t it?"
