Chapter 127: Catherine’s Fault
"Then give it a try, but don’t insist. Make sure you explain my requirements to the other party clearly. If the old man doesn’t agree, then forget it."
Andrew showed Lucy his requirements.
The main requirements are that meals cannot be served too late, spoiled or substandard ingredients cannot be used, and the business must operate between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m.
Lucy thought the requests were reasonable, and after Party packed up the food she wanted and brought it up with him, she mentioned it to him.
At first, Parry’s face clearly showed his resistance and frown, but with Lucy’s persuasion and careful explanation, Parry gradually listened to the whole story and understood Andrew’s true thoughts.
"That’s a great idea. These days, those shops are being pressured by the platform to lower prices, and they’re really going too far in their pursuit of profit, even using some really rotten ingredients."
Parry despises this behavior, which is a major reason why he is unwilling to join a food delivery platform.
Andrew’s proposed solution, while reducing his profit per order, would definitely yield much higher profits if it brought in a large number of orders.
However, he had another problem, "Although this plan is good, my wife and I are not very good at using smartphones, and I’m afraid we might make a mistake."
"this...."
Andrew didn’t have any good solutions either.
Everyone remained silent, and no one had any good ideas.
It’s not something that can be taught to older people in a short time, since smartphones aren’t a product their generation used.
"How about... I teach Grandpa Parry and Grandma how to use it, and then when it’s busy during mealtimes, I can come here to help take orders. That should work, right?" Lucy suddenly suggested.
Parry thought it was a good idea, but he raised another question: "But Su Su, don’t you usually busy?"
"It’s okay, I will take out free time."
"This won’t do!"
Not only did Parry think this wouldn’t work, but Andrew also thought it wouldn’t work.
But Lucy was already embarrassed with her previous meeting, so she still forced to do it.
In the end, Andrew and Party accepted.
After chatting for a while, Andrew prepared to leave. He dropped Ethan off at school. After that, he went back to his rented apartment to take Catherine home.
When Catherine and Scarlett came downstairs together, Andrew saw them and asked in surprise, "Scar, why are you coming down too?"
"I want to go out for some fresh air," Scarlett said casually.
But Andrew, based on his intuition, guessed that the other party was lying and there must be another reason, but he couldn’t say because Catherine was there.
On the way to the medical school, Catherine asked Andrew to stop by the fruit shop.
"Wait a minute, I’m going to buy two papayas."
Andrew raised an eyebrow and glanced at Catherine, "Didn’t you say before that papaya doesn’t work on that area?"
"Mind your own business! I just love eating papaya!" Catherine was furious at Andrew’s smug look.
"Tch, what they say online is true: the smaller the breasts, the bigger the temper."
"Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow!"
Catherine wanted nothing more than to grab a papaya and crack open Andrew’s head.
Scarlett, sitting in the passenger seat, watched the siblings bicker the whole way until Catherine got out of the car and they finally quieted down.
After Catherine left with a sly grin, Andrew dropped his smug expression and turned back to a grinning face.
"Hey sis, now that you’re out, where are you going?"
"have no idea."
"...."
"All I know is that someone said they would take me out to play on the weekend, but I don’t know where they went for the entire weekend except for the evenings."
Scarlett propped her head up with her hand and glanced at Andrew with disdain.
For some reason, Andrew actually felt a strange sense of satisfaction being stared at by Professor Scarlett with that disdainful look.
Damn, why are the things in my head getting more and more bizarre?
It must all be my older sister’s fault.
"It’s still the weekend tonight, so it’s not too late to go out and have fun."
Andrew said to Scarlett with a grin.
Professor Scarlett’s words just now were meant to imply that she was too boring and that he didn’t spend time with her.
Scarlett pouted and glanced at him again, feigning displeasure, before turning to look out the window.
She rested her chin on her right hand, but a slight smile crept onto her lips, "You little rascal, all you know how to do is argue."
Scarlett didn’t really care where they went; as long as Andrew was with her, she was happy to go anywhere.
"Let’s go eat first. I happen to know a really good little restaurant."
"Don’t try to fool me and take me to eat at those awful restaurants again."
"Don’t worry, I would never lie to you, sister. If I were to lie, it would be to that flatbed cart."
"puff--"
Scarlett almost burst out laughing.
Meanwhile, back in her dorm, Catherine was still furious.
After placing the papaya on her desk, she grew angrier the more she looked at it. The more she looked at the papaya, the more it resembled Andrew’s smug, mocking expression.
"ah!!!"
Catherine suddenly flew into a rage and slapped the papaya with her palm. But she didn’t have Scarlett’s fighting power. The papaya was completely unharmed, while Catherine herself was in so much pain that she almost rolled on the ground.
"This brother should not be allowed to stay any longer; I must get rid of him as soon as possible!"
...
Meanwhile, Andrew brought Scarlett to Grandpa Parry’s small restaurant.
Even at dinner time, there was only one more old man here, and he wasn’t there to eat; he was just chatting with Grandpa Parry and his wife.
This small restaurant, tucked away in a remote corner, certainly has a hard time attracting customers.
When Parry saw Andrew arrive again, he stood up with a smile and said, "Oh my, is this your girlfriend, Andrew? She’s so beautiful."
It would make any man feel good to be complimented on his girlfriend’s beauty.
Scarlett simply smiled and nodded in response.
After Andrew ordered a few home-style dishes, Grandpa Parry went to get busy, and Andrew and Scarlett sat down at an empty table.
The table is quite old and has some rust. If some pampered young masters and princesses came, they would probably find it unappealing to sit down.
However, Scarlett wasn’t putting on airs; she was more concerned about whether the food would taste good.
Scarlett picked up a pair of chopsticks and held them in her hand, glancing occasionally toward the kitchen.
Looking at the smoky, sparking kitchen, Scarlett was still a little uneasy. She turned around and gently waved to Andrew.
"What’s the matter?"
"Come here a little."
Andrew leaned closer to Scarlett, "Scar, what’s wrong?"
"Is this restaurant really that good? Why is it so deserted? And why is there so much smoke coming from all the stir-frying?"
Scarlett’s concern stemmed largely from the fact that the way Grandpa Parry cooked, with all the smoke, was completely different from how Andrew cooked at home.
Even when Andrew is stir-frying, there isn’t that much smoke, let alone the sparks flying everywhere when he’s tossing the food in the wok, "Won’t this burn?"
"Of course not. This is the cooking technique used by the older generation of chefs. Nowadays, most of the pots and pans at home are stainless steel non-stick pans, so there’s no need to toss the food like that."
"Really?"
"It will definitely taste delicious. I guarantee it with my integrity. Scar, you will definitely like it."
Scarlett was relieved to hear Andrew’s assurance.
This was the first time she had ever heard Andrew praise a restaurant so highly. Previously, the highest praise Andrew could give a restaurant was, "It’s alright."
’I can’t help but feel a little hopeful.’
Over the past few days, Scarlett hasn’t had much to eat. Andrew has been too busy with the betting agreement to cook for her, so she just eats in the school cafeteria.
During the two-day weekend, while she was tutoring Catherine, she assumed that Catherine, as Andrew’s older sister, should at least know how to cook.
As it turns out, she was even worse than him; she couldn’t even cut a piece of fruit properly, let alone cook.
However, when the stir-fried dishes were served, Scarlett couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed.
It smelled pretty good, but the presentation after being stir-fried was really not good compared to Andrew’s light and clean cooking.
After eating so much of Andrew’s cooking, Scarlett’s stomach has become shaped like Andrew’s; she feels that anything different from what Andrew makes won’t taste very good.
With a "let’s give it a try" attitude, Scarlett took a few bites and fell in love with the taste, quickly picking up her spoons to eat more.
"See? I didn’t lie to you. Grandpa Parry’s skills are really good."
"Hmm, but there seems to be a bit too much oil."
Scarlett picked up a piece of stir-fried green pepper with her spoon; it glistened slightly under the light.
However, not much seasoning was added, so it didn’t have that MSG-like taste. It was quite addictive as you ate it.
Parry laughed after hearing this, "The iron pot I’m using will stick if there’s not enough oil, and more oil is actually better. When I was a kid, I didn’t even have the chance to eat more oil."
Andrew also explained, "Using more oil to stir-fry makes the food cook faster. At home, I use less oil and usually control the heat, so it’s not as fast."
After listening to their explanation, Scarlett nodded slightly, then asked, "Would it be easier to stir-fry if I used more oil?"
"I’d say that’s about right. I’ve been doing this for so many years, and I’ve always used this method of stir-frying."
Parry answered with a smile, but Andrew felt a chill run down his spine, sensing something was wrong, ’Oh no! Professor Scarlett isn’t thinking about cooking for me again, is she?’
Thinking of this, unpleasant memories flashed through Andrew’s mind, and he quickly leaned over to Scarlett and whispered to her, "Hey, Scar, if you want to cook, just wait until I have time and I’ll teach you step by step."
It would have been better if he hadn’t said it; Scarlett seemed a little unhappy after he did.
"Then let me ask you, what did you do on weekends when you had free time?"
"We went on a field trip last week, so I really didn’t have time to teach."
"What about the week before last? The week before that? Every evening? You were never free?"
"Well..."
Faced with Scarlett’s questioning, Andrew was speechless for a moment.
He himself is often lazy and doesn’t really want to cook properly. Unless Scarlett brings it up, he will never think of teaching her how to cook.
He would only cook a delicious meal to appease Scarlett when she was unhappy.
"Next time for sure, next time for sure."
Scarlett glanced at Andrew abruptly, "You should go back to what you’re doing. Who knows when you’ll be free next time?"
"So, Scar, you’re not planning to learn anymore?" Andrew asked tentatively.
"Whether I learn to cook or not is none of your business, since you already think my cooking is terrible."
"I’m innocent! I never thought that way!"
Andrew cried out that he was wronged, and then said to Scarlett with a hint of grievance, "Scar, I’ve noticed that you’re becoming more and more indifferent to me."
"No, I’m always like this," Scarlett replied calmly, continuing to eat.
"I know! It must have been my sister who did this! That’s why you’re acting like this!"
"..."
(Catherine: "Achoo! That damn Andrew, he’s definitely talking about me behind my back again, either criticizing me or making me take the blame!")
