Chapter 122: Death

Scarlett pursed her lips and gave a half-smile.

This girl is quite the talker.

Andrew came to the studio mainly to discuss whether there were any good ideas.

"Everyone, think of some ideas. The amount of money invested is not a problem; I will find a way."

Upon hearing this, Gary asked in confusion, "Since money isn’t a problem, why don’t you just find a way to raise 250,000?"

"No, the betting agreement clearly states that we must earn 250,000 through profit; no other method counts."

"This...."

Everyone looked at each other, none of them able to come up with a good idea.

To make matters worse, Mark Vane also told Andrew some bad news.

"By the way, boss, someone attacked the website last night, causing many people to be unable to access it, and we’ve received quite a few complaints."

Andrew frowned and clicked his tongue, "This guy went a bit too far."

"Is it really necessary? We’re just a small chat website." Hannah was completely baffled as to why the other party was making such a fuss.

After listening, Andrew simply said, "Their investment company must also have internal targets, and in order to compete, they will stop at nothing to improve the performance of their team."

"Alright, we can’t control what others do. I’m going to recruit a few cybersecurity engineers these next few days to block cyberattacks. Everyone, think of some ideas. If you don’t have any, that’s fine too."

Everyone nodded, and Scarlett, sitting in the back, witnessed this scene.

I never expected that Andrew could be so charismatic when he gets serious, and even be so good at rallying people.

Scarlett then realized that Andrew’s childlike behavior in front of her was intentional, just to stick close to her.

Hmph, you little pervert, how awful!

Scarlett didn’t stay long; she had to go to class and left when it was time.

After chatting for a while, Mark Vane suddenly said to Andrew, "Boss, if we really want to prevent cyberattacks, I suggest we turn our website into software. That would make it much easier to protect. It’s very easy for hackers to attack websites."

"If we’re going to turn it into software, we’ll need a lot of people. I’ll give Hannah some funds later, and you and she can go and recruit more programmers."

"Good."

At this moment, Hannah sighed and looked at Andrew with hope, saying, "Boss! You must help us get through this difficult time, otherwise we will lose our jobs and won’t even be able to afford a decent meal."

"Come on, stop talking nonsense. How much does a shared meal cost? You can’t even afford it."

"But it does cost money! And sharing meals can easily lead to problems. Last time Mark Vane ordered a braised chicken with a meal, it was almost all chicken butts."

How about the chicken butt?

Mark Vane immediately nodded to show that this was no exaggeration, "It’s true, I had diarrhea for a whole day after that meal, which made me afraid to order mixed meals again."

"Although I don’t pay you much, you don’t have to live on scraps, do you?" Andrew said with a wry smile.

"That’s true, but prices in Blackthorn are really high! Ordering takeout costs more than 20 dollars, and eating at school costs around 18 dollars."

After saying that, Hannah couldn’t help but complain, "It would be good to have a group-buying event and make it cheaper. Who doesn’t know that the catering industry is extremely profitable? But a bunch of unscrupulous merchants make the quality incredibly poor as soon as it’s cheap."

No sooner had he finished speaking than Andrew suddenly sat up agitatedly and said to Hannah, "Say what you just said again!"

Hannah was startled, "I was saying that the cheap food made by unscrupulous vendors is of very poor quality."

"No, the sentence before that."

"Are you referring to the group-buying promotion I mentioned? No restaurants are offering that."

"Nobody’s doing it! Can’t we do it?"

"But those restaurants wouldn’t agree, would they? We can’t just open our own restaurant."

Hannah thought this method was not feasible.

These restaurants don’t lack customers, and they can use the "group buying" channel to get rid of those inferior ingredients, so why would they need to do this group buying activity?

Andrew waved his hand, indicating that Hannah’s thinking was too simplistic.

"I never intended for these restaurants to run group-buying promotions."

"So who do you want to find?"

Everyone looked at Andrew with suspicion.

"Have you never eaten at those tiny, inconspicuous restaurants?" Andrew asked Hannah and the others.

But Mark Vane and Gary shook their heads. These two homebodies never went out and ate either takeout or instant noodles, so there was no way they could know.

After thinking for a while, Hannah slowly said, "I do remember there’s a small restaurant in the alley on the east side of the school that’s quite good, but it’s not very popular and the location is out of the way, so hardly anyone goes there."

Upon hearing this, Andrew excitedly slammed his hand on the table. "Yes! This is exactly the kind of restaurant I’m looking for. Has that small restaurant joined any of those food delivery platforms?"

"Probably not."

Hannah shook his head, "Because that small restaurant is run by an elderly couple, and I don’t think they know how to use smartphones very well, and I haven’t been able to find the restaurant on any food delivery platforms."

"That’s great. I was worried that their business was only pretending to be bad."

After Andrew finished speaking, he stood up and said to Mark Vane and the others, "You guys continue with your work. You can also start preparing to hire people and get the software out as soon as possible."

"By the way, when developing the software, add a group-buying and food delivery function block. Just refer to the existing food delivery software for its design."

The four looked in the direction Andrew had left, then exchanged bewildered glances, "Did any of you understand what the boss meant?"

Andrew didn’t explain it to the four of them because there wasn’t much need to, since Hannah and the others had their own things to do.

A city is bound to have plenty of delicious food, and among these diverse restaurants, there are always a few hidden gems. They may have an unassuming storefront, but the food they make surpasses that of famous brands.

Andrew’s idea was to bring these unassuming little shops together, promote them, provide them with delivery channels, and lower the prices if there were many orders.

For college students, food is the most important thing. It not only has to taste good, but it also can’t be too expensive, since rich kids are a minority.

Andrew originally planned to invite Lucy to accompany him to explore the entire Blackthorn City and find small restaurants like this. After all, it wouldn’t matter if he thought it was delicious on his own; everyone’s tastes are different, and the differences between men and women would be even greater.

However, as the branch secretary of the Communist Youth League, Lucy has been busy with League affairs lately and hasn’t had time.

Scarlett, needless to say, is a Scar. Even if Andrew wanted to go out with her, he could only do so on weekends.

Andrew didn’t know any other girls, and after thinking for a long time, a sudden inspiration struck him, "Hey!!!"

He immediately called his older sister, "Sis! Are you free?"

Upon hearing this, Catherine on the other end of the phone replied decisively, "No time!"

If Andrew asks if you’re free, it’s almost certainly not a good sign.

Now that she has Professor Scarlett as her girlfriend, Catherine is even more certain that Andrew’s visit is definitely not for anything good.

"No, no, no, sis, don’t hang up yet. If they really need to talk to you, it’s a good thing."

Andrew spoke quickly, afraid that his older sister would hang up the phone.

"I don’t have time, I still need to prepare for the postgraduate entrance exam."

"I’ll treat you to dinner."

"Come pick me up, I’ll change my clothes right away."

Ten minutes later, Andrew picked up Catherine in his car.

Catherine stood outside the car, looking at the white Audi, and clicked her tongue twice, "Wow, I never thought my good brother would still think of his sister after he found a rich woman. It really surprises me."

"Uh... Stop talking nonsense, get in the car, sit in the back, Professor Scarlett is in the passenger seat."

Catherine rolled her eyes, then sat in the back of the car. After closing the door, she asked Andrew again, still not entirely convinced, "Are you really taking me out to eat? Or are you trying to scam me?"

"I’m definitely not trying to scam you, it’s really just a meal."

"That’s fine then. If you try to scam me again, I’ll fight you to the death when I get home for the New Year!"

Before driving, Andrew carefully planned his route, finding some inconspicuous small restaurants or noodle shops on satellite maps, and then checking user reviews on the map service.

If the food at this restaurant is good, he’ll bookmark it and go eat there with Professor Scarlett on the weekend.

If there are no reviews or a lot of negative ones saying it’s bad, then go and try it with your older sister.

I’m so smart!

Catherine figured that even if Andrew didn’t treat her to a fancy meal, it probably wouldn’t be too bad, and she could make some requests during the meal.

To her surprise, Andrew really did just take her out to eat, but they ate at different places and only ate a little bit at each place.

Especially after eating something extremely unpalatable, Catherine couldn’t help but vomit.

"Holy crap! What is this? It tastes awful."

That’s when she realized that Andrew had been using her as a guinea pig.

However, she was also curious about what Andrew was up to, so Andrew had no choice but to tell her about the trouble he was in.

Catherine nodded after hearing this, then suddenly asked, "Is this guy named Gu Ming particularly thin, and does he wear square-framed glasses?"

"Yes, what’s wrong?"

"I know him! Last time, this guy was chatting with a professor from our school and they talked about your website. They mentioned investing, and at the time they said they wanted to buy your website directly."

"I didn’t expect to be targeted so early," Andrew chuckled, making a self-deprecating remark.

Catherine also said, "I just mentioned it to you casually, I didn’t expect it to actually cause you trouble."

After saying that, Catherine started bargaining with Andrew: "But this is ultimately your problem. Now that I’ve come here with you to be a guinea pig and eat all this junk, shouldn’t you think about making it up to me?"

"Alright, fine."

I can’t completely take advantage of my older sister; I still need to give her some compensation to appease her.

As usual, Andrew assumed that Catherine either wanted food or wanted to buy some game skins.

But the request made this time was quite unexpected.

"Buy me some underwear."

Andrew spat out the water he was drinking, "Sister, we’re all adults now, can’t you be a little more reserved?"

"Who asked you to come with me? I told you to pay, I’m going to buy it myself!"

"Okay, okay."

Catherine showed Andrew a few lingerie items she had her eye on on her phone.

I was shocked when I saw it, "What! You bought a bra that costs over a thousand! Is it inlaid with gold or silver?"

Seeing Andrew’s excited expression, Catherine quickly whispered to him, "Hey bro, let me tell you, women’s underwear is very important. If the quality is bad, it’s very uncomfortable to wear, so you should buy better ones. If you don’t believe me, go ask Professor Scarlett; her underwear must be very expensive too."

Andrew thought this reasoning made some sense, "That’s true. If I were buying underwear for Professor Scarlett, I would definitely choose the most comfortable material."

But then he changed the subject, looking at Catherine, "But why did you buy this underwear?"

"What’s wrong? My old underwear is uncomfortable, so I want to buy new ones."

"With your flat chest, what’s there to buy? Just put on a band-aid, isn’t that enough?"

Catherine instantly flew into a rage, "From today onwards, we’re severing all sibling ties! One of us must die! I’ll fight you to the death!!!"
