Chapter 48: Just Kidnap A Few
Alex? Is he the person she was talking about?
Kael examined Alex and for some strange reason, he felt as though something was wrong with this guy. He couldn’t put a finger on what it was but the one thing he was certain of was that Alex was dangerous.
A faint smile appeared on Alex’s face upon seeing Allura’s cheerful expression which was opposite to Kael’s.
"Lady Allura..." his gaze shifted toward Kael and he added, "It seems things have become troublesome for you."
Allura let out a defeated sigh and nodded, "They indeed have."
Alex’s gaze moved to the map. So Antonio has captured both the outer eastern city and outer southern city which means he has two respawn points under him.
Each outer city had a slave pen where the Players respawned after dying during the tutorial and the three factions used those very respawn points to increase their numbers.
Now that Dark Wolves had two slave pens under them they were already much larger than Lightbearers and Free Sword.
In the Original Story, outer Nyxare only had two groups: Dark Wolves and Free Sword.
And because Crela Estrada the leader of Free Sword had entered the inner city, Antonio was easily able to defeat them and take over the whole outer Nyxare.
But due to Alex’s interference, a group that was never in the story had appeared.
That was the reason he felt responsible for them and was providing as much help as he could.
After all, if he hadn’t done what he did, they still would’ve been saved by one of the two groups.
Seeing him stare at the map so intensely, Allura let out a cough and said, "Ahem! Sir Alex, do you intend to help us?"
Her beautiful voice pulled him out of his thoughts and Alex nodded. "I do."
Hearing the answer, Kael’s ear perked up and he said while sheathing his sword, "Sorry for my rudeness, I am Kael. The vice leader of Free Sword."
Alex regarded him with a nod and said, "I am Alex."
"I believe their main base is within the outer eastern city, yes?" Alex asked while tapping on the map.
Allura nodded and said, "Most of the time all of us move from one place to another to take various missions while a few enter the forest. Antonio is the latter."
"I’ve heard he has a defensive talent," Kael added.
Alex looked at Kael from the corner of his eye and nodded while commenting inwardly, as far as I remember this guy has a C-Rank talent which allows him to pull or push a target.
His gaze moved toward Allura. And I have no clue about her talent. It was never mentioned in the Villain’s Ascension and she had never done anything too out of the ordinary.
Let’s focus on this for now. He remarked inwardly and said, "I want you to find Antonio’s exact location."
Allura and Kael frowned.
"What? How are we supposed to do that?" Kael asked.
Alex shrugged. "I don’t know. Maybe kidnap a few of the Dark Wolves and ask them?"
Kael’s expression darkened and he looked at Allura, hoping for her to shut this demon’s mouth but to his disbelief, Allura let out a chuckle and asked, "What do you plan to do once you have his location?"
Alex’s lips parted to answer but before he could, Kael muttered in a slightly furious tone, "Lady Allura are you really agreeing to his reckless plan?"
His gaze shifted toward Alex and he added while pointing at Allura, "Both of us know that the moment we touch even one of the Dark Wolves, all of them would come swarming our base. Do you intend to fight them head-on?"
Alex didn’t disregard his words instead he asked, "How much time do you think you have?"
"What?" Kael frowned.
"As you said, Antonio won’t let any of us enter the inner city before his group but your leader has already entered it."
"He may attack us before we even do anything," Allura added sombrely.
"So don’t you think it would be better if we initiated the attack instead of waiting here? The more time you take the worse the outcome of the battle would be," Alex stated.
Kael stared at Alex for a while and then asked, "Are you certain that you can defeat him?"
Alex nodded. "I am."
Kael’s gaze shifted to Allura and she nodded. "I can vouch for his prowess."
Kael’s expression turned complicated, a few seconds later he clenched his right fist and bowed deeply toward Alex, "Please help us."
Alex let out a chuckle and said, "I am already going to do that, you didn’t have to do this."
Kael raised his head and thought, Maybe he isn’t as bad as I had thought.
Allura clapped her palms together and said with a beautiful smile, "Let us devise a plan then."
Seeing her smile, Alex smiled as well and the two nodded.
The next few hours passed as they created many hypothetical situations that might occur and once they had formed a reliable plan, all of them leaned back in their chair and stared at either the ceiling or the ground.
Now that the important discussion was over, Allura glanced at Alex with a tired expression and asked, "What have you been up to for the past few days?"
Alex lowered his eyes and met hers as he answered, "I entered the inner city and met someone troublesome."
The moment the two heard it, their eyes widened and Allura asked with a confused expression, "Why did you return then?"
"I came to fulfill my promise," he answered flatly as he leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes. "Having all this strength would be meaningless if I live a life where I can’t even fulfill a single promise."
Kael stared at Alex with a surprised expression and asked, "Did you happen to meet our leader?"
To his disappointment, Alex shook his head and said, "I did not."
