Chapter 389: Pandemonium
Flames always die down.
As time passed, the fire visibly weakened, and the people grew increasingly anxious.
"..."
Their bodies were itching to move. Their minds were already mapping out routes, calculating which neighboring houses were empty. Two hours was more than enough time to ransack someone else’s home.
But their bodies wouldn’t move. Their feet wouldn’t budge. Even making an excuse about feeling unwell to leave the square felt too conspicuous.
Anyone who left would become one who coveted others’ possessions; someone who followed the legion’s ’order.’ It was tantamount to following an orc’s directive, stealing from the dead, and casting away the last shred of conscience they had as human beings.
"Ngh..."
The young man sank into frustration. He’d only asked out of curiosity, but the surrounding gazes seemed to blame him. He’d simply wondered whether the belongings inside would be ruined once the houses were demolished. He never imagined they’d actually be told to go steal them.
This is dangerous.
Humans are fundamentally creatures of desire. They’re acutely sensitive to their own gain and sometimes can’t bring themselves to genuinely celebrate another person’s fortune.
As the saying goes, nothing stings quite like watching your neighbor strike gold. The thought of a profit you could have claimed ending up in someone else’s hands only breeds more resentment. It feels like something is being taken from you, and the young man got chills at the orc’s scheme that exploited precisely that.
Could anyone who claimed a dead person’s property truly live with a clear conscience after escaping? Of course not. The young man silently counted the time as the flames dwindled.
"Only three minutes..."
A mere three minutes had passed, yet it felt a hundred times slower. With everyone watching everyone else for the first move, time seemed to crawl even more.
Can we hold out for two hours?
The moment a single person broke away, everyone would be swept up in the frenzy. If they wanted to preserve their conscience as human beings, all they had to do was stand firm in the square for two hours.
If even one person acts as a catalyst, it’s all over.
An unbreached dam stands firm. But even a single crack will let water seep through, and that crack will widen until the whole thing collapses. If even one person stepped forward and broke ranks...
Flash.
A woman beside the young man rose to her feet. Hair disheveled, she clutched her torn clothes and dashed toward the alleyway.
"Sh, she’s...!"
The crowd gasped. Her clothing suggested she was one of the Zabiyaba refugees from outside the walls who had drifted inside the castle. She seemed intent on stealing others’ property to establish a foothold for surviving within the walls.
"I, I don’t want to die!"
Another man sprang to his feet.
"I don’t want to touch other people’s stuff! But if I don’t take it, they’ll kill me! I’ll be raped and then beheaded! Aaaagh!!"
The man screamed as he fled the square. The orc had clearly said nothing about what would happen to those who simply stood still and didn’t take anything; to those who disobeyed the order.
Smirk.
He merely curled the corner of his lip and tilted his chin upward. He seemed to be looking down from above, as though watching the humans’ disgraceful spectacle for entertainment.
"...Fuck it, I came here to make a living, not to die!"
An adventurer in leather armor, stripped of his weapons, spat on the ground and stood up. Penniless, he clearly had no means of survival.
"Ah..."
The young man despaired. Those who had been living inside Spica Castle had homes and property that were unmistakably theirs. But the refugees from outside the walls, the adventurers captured before they could flee, and those inside the castle who had little to their name; they couldn’t help but be tempted by the opportunity that had fallen in their laps.
"""AAAAAHHHH!!"""
A frenzied roar erupted across the square. Men and women, young and old, everyone leapt to their feet and started sprinting toward the houses.
"Urgh, ack!"
The young man was swept up in the crowd and sucked into the alleyways. The legion, as if they’d been waiting for this, had clearly marked which houses had owners and which didn’t.
"There, X! The one painted with a red X!!!"
The young man racked his memory. The house with a red, slimy X smeared across the front gate had belonged to a lifelong bachelor who’d been close to his mother. The X on the door felt like a symbol of the man’s death.
Grrrr.
The ghoul standing guard at the gate eyed the crowd gathered at the entrance and opened the door. As if signaling ’you may now steal,’ the ghoul stepped aside, and those at the door rushed inside.
"Ah, aaagh!!"
The young man screamed and shoved through the crowd. Avoiding the houses marked with an X, he ran to his own home. Thankfully, his house bore no X, and a familiar woman flung the door open and stepped out. The young man ran to her and threw his arms around her.
"Mom!!"
"Move it!"
His mother’s rough hands shoved the young man inside the house. The woman had several empty bags slung across her back.
"M, Mom...?"
"You stay here and watch the house! Mom’s going to grab everything she can!"
"Are you crazy?! That’s a crime!"
"We’re living under the Demon King’s Army now; what crime?! This is all about survival! Just stay put!!"
The young man’s mother, looking frantic, started to head out, then turned back.
"All you have to do is close your eyes and sit still! Whether it’s the legion or whatever else, we have no choice if we’re going to live here! If the human alliance rescues us someday and investigates what happened today, you ’didn’t do a thing’! Got it?!"
"B, but!"
"Listen to me. Son."
His mother grabbed his face and growled.
"Think of it like nobles fighting over territory. If the Demon King’s Army wins against humanity, this place might just be where you make something of yourself."
"But..."
"Shut it! The moment the Demon King’s Army took this land, we were as good as dead! Be grateful they let us live! Damn it, what’s the worst that comes from sleeping with a monster?! Those orc bastards are surprisingly good in bed! If you don’t like it, just sit tight! I’ll handle everything out there!!"
"W, Mom!!"
The young man was thrown into turmoil. He didn’t have the strength to stop his mother, who had been an adventurer in her former life.
Bang!
His mother kicked the door open and ran outside. A legion soldier standing before an X-marked door opened it as if welcoming her in.
"Ah, ahh..."
The young man clutched his hair in despair. The frenzy spread like a plague, and while his rational mind told him this had to be stopped, he was powerless.
"What are you doing here?"
"Eek?"
A black, crow-like head suddenly appeared before his eyes. A crow creature in skin-tight black leather tilted its head curiously, peering at the young man from the doorway.
"You’re not stealing?"
"Oh, uh, well...?"
A sudden sense of deja vu struck the young man. Something felt off, though he couldn’t place it, and he studied the female monster before him more carefully. The voice of the crow creature, the Andras, was oddly familiar.
"The thing is..."
"I can pretty much guess. There’s no penalty for not stealing. You’re part of our legion either way. But why aren’t you stealing?"
"...Because the moment I steal someone else’s things, I can never leave the legion."
"Ohh."
The Andras giggled and approached the young man. Before he could even resist...
"Just as I thought, nice and sturdy. Seventeen, eighteen...? Ahahah, you could hold your own against the orcs."
"Eek?!"
His pants were yanked off. Suddenly exposed for all to see, the young man was pinned to the floor without a chance to fight back.
"Heheh, it’s pandemonium out there, so nobody will notice, right? Hey, if you really can’t bring yourself to steal anything, then steal this instead. It’ll earn you even more respect than taking someone’s property."
The Andras unfastened her belt and pulled off her black pants. The young man couldn’t tear his eyes from the Andras’s lower body. Beneath the pants, the monster was wearing something like white stockings.
"Heheheh. Hold on just a second."
The Andras slowly peeled off the stockings. What lay beneath was even paler than the stockings; flushed pink yet milky white, the sight made the back of the young man’s head tingle. The shape of those thighs unmistakably belonged to the one who had taken him the night before...
"Mmph?!"
Something was stuffed into the young man’s mouth. A rich, fruity scent filled his mouth, and his vision was sealed by white fabric. The Andras had used her own stockings to gag and blindfold the young man.
"Phew, no one will recognize me like this, right? Ah, that tickles my ears. Heheh, time to enjoy this human dick~"
A familiar voice. The young man closed his eyes, remembering the pleasure he’d felt the night before. He had no strength to resist.
Creak.
Two hours later.
By stealing a single pair of white stockings, the young man became a citizen of the legion.

The flames went out. I sat in the Baroness’s office chair, stroking the head of Lime, who knelt beneath the desk and was enthusiastically sucking me off.
"Lime. Do we really have to do it like this?"
"Mm, slurp. Yeah. Don’t you like it, Master?"
"No, it’s nice in its own way... hngh."
As a Slabdoll, Lime’s mouth was hotter and more elastic than any ordinary woman’s. Even her teeth weren’t hard, softened to just the right degree, so while it was structurally a mouth, it was really a hole that could freely change shape.
"Doing it with the Baroness’s face makes it even more of a turn-on. Hnn, Clian. Nifran. You two..."
"Yes?"
"What? You need us for something?"
The two Slamia had coiled their bodies around two fairly handsome men like rolled sushi and were milking them. With slime helmets covering their faces, the men couldn’t see or hear a thing happening in this room.
"Who are those guys?"
"We grabbed some of the ones who held out and wouldn’t steal. Hehe, good job, right?"
"We’re punishing people who disobeyed Master’s order!"
"Well, it’s not like I was actually going to kill anyone for not stealing, but..."
"Mm, Master. Disobeying orders must be met with strict punishment. Slurp."
Lime pulled her lips away to offer her counsel. She had a point; defying a direct order was clearly wrong.
"Eila, mobilize the soldiers right now to check every single house. The standard is individuals, not households. If anyone didn’t steal so much as a fork from someone else’s home, they’re going to the ranch."
"Understood. I’ll issue the order right away. Mmh."
...Beside Lime, Eila nodded along while sharing the task. The hot, unmistakably alive sensation of a human mouth, different from Lime’s yet just as eager, made me feel like I’d finish at any moment.
"Whew."
Having two noblewomen, one technically a Slabdoll, kneel beneath the office desk and service me was certainly a novel experience. Since I could barely move, the eagerness of these two as they worked on their own was admirable, and I stroked their heads.
"Once Clian and Nifran are done milking, we should get moving. If we were on a tight schedule, we should’ve left by now... Are you two done having your fun?"
"You’re leaving already?"
"It’s only been two hours."
"That’s exactly why I’m saying we need to go."
Clian and Nifran bit their lips with reluctance and squeezed their bodies tight. The two men shuddered as though they’d just climaxed. Clian and Nifran licked their lips and smiled with satisfaction.
"Ahh, that hit the spot."
"Master, how about building a prison in the basement here? We could grab humans who commit crimes and have our way with them. If you put us in charge as wardens..."
"Mating with monsters outside a dungeon doesn’t count as sowing, though."
"...It’s not always about laying eggs, you know."
Clian and Nifran puffed their cheeks in protest. They did have a fair point. Transporting every criminal in Raspica all the way to a distant dungeon to lay eggs and then sending them back was a bit much.
"Fine. Work with Lime to build a suitable prison. Minor offenders will be let off with a session with a monster in the Raspica underground. But serious criminals go to the dungeon. They lay eggs and get released, or depending on the case, they become ghouls."
"Mm, as Master wishes."
"I’ll adjust the sentencing to roughly match kingdom law."
Eila turned toward Lime. Lime cupped Eila’s face and kissed her, cleaning Eila’s mouth. The glistening pre-cum on her lips vanished without a trace.
"Then I’ll go deal with the barony’s knights..."
"Wait. Eila, there’s somewhere you need to come with me. Lime, Clian, Nifran. Merge back into Slaberus."
"Huh? Wh, where?"
The three slimes fused into one, reforming into Slaberus, and I climbed onto the saddle and tapped the front. Eila, flushing with embarrassment, assumed the same position as Lune.
"Hnnngh... Are you planning to ride through Ras Vegas like this?"
"No. We’re heading to Flauros’s dungeon."
"Huh?"
The training room, to be precise.
"Let’s go see Levis Ann."
