Chapter 61: 61: Chieftain To Rescue
The impact instantly shattered the earth and sent rocks and broken vines flying everywhere.
Nyxara landed lightly atop a broken root pillar and immediately launched herself forward again without wasting even a second.
SWISH!
A bluish streak of light flashed through the darkness like a comet as she swung her sword directly toward the abomination’s neck.
CLANG!
A loud metallic sound echoed throughout the battlefield.
Nyxara’s eyes trembled slightly after the strike landed. Despite its rotten and disgusting appearance, the creature’s flesh was absurdly hard.
The abomination twisted its body unnaturally, and several giant arms burst out from its back before lunging toward her from different directions.
Nyxara immediately jumped backward while swinging her blade repeatedly.
SLASH! SLASH! SLASH!
Blue flashes exploded one after another as multiple arms were sliced apart and crashed heavily onto the ground with wet thuds.
But before she could even catch her breath, the severed arms began twitching violently.
Then they regenerated.
The torn flesh wriggled like living worms before reforming into new arms once again.
"What the hell is this disgusting thing..." Reigns muttered while watching the battle from afar with a pale face.
The four guards beside him also looked pale after witnessing the creature’s horrifying regenerative ability.
The abomination slowly opened the massive crack running across its face.
Then dozens of glowing eyes emerged from within the darkness.
SCREEEEEECH!
A terrifying scream erupted outward and violently shook the entire area.
The kneeling villagers trembled even harder as they continued worshipping the creature like complete fanatics.
Some even slammed their heads repeatedly onto the ground until blood appeared on their foreheads, as though they had completely lost their minds.
Nyxara frowned and covered one ear before rushing forward again.
The monster slammed all its giant arms downward at once.
BOOOOOOM!
The entire battlefield exploded apart.
Huge chunks of earth rose into the air while cracks rapidly spread across the village grounds.
Trees shattered while nearby wooden huts collapsed from the impact.
Nyxara burst out from the smoke cloud at incredible speed before appearing directly before the abomination.
Her sword glowed brightly with blue energy.
Then she swung downward with full force.
SLASH!
A massive wound finally ripped open across the monster’s chest, and thick black blood splattered everywhere like filthy tar.
The abomination screeched painfully and staggered backward while its giant body shook violently.
But in the very next moment, the wound began moving again.
The flesh wriggled violently before slowly regenerating once more.
Nyxara clicked her tongue, breathing slightly heavier than before. Even for her, fighting this thing was becoming troublesome.
Meanwhile, Reigns stared across the battlefield with a tense expression while gripping the scythe tightly in his hands.
’Damn it... This thing is way too hard to kill.’
Reigns briefly considered whether he should send Dryad but quickly shook his head. The tree soldier would probably be flattened in a single sweep.
As for Splash Shooter, they would be little more than annoying pests.
He then turned toward the guards with an ugly expression. The four of them just stood there without making a move.
"You all have been trapped here for ages. Now that you are finally freed, don’t tell me you plan to just sit there and watch?" Reigns snarled while pointing toward the battlefield.
The four guards exchanged nervous glances as the horrifying screams of the abomination echoed throughout the shattered village.
One of them finally stepped forward.
"Help... we need to help her."
"Sorry, we were just taken aback!" another muttered while grabbing his spear and standing up with a determined expression.
"I will help too..." a third quickly followed, clenching his weapon tightly in his grip.
"Wait!" a sudden scream interrupted them.
The group quickly turned toward the guard who had shouted.
"Boss... we should look for Boss. He’s Level 18. If it’s him, I am sure he would be quite helpful."
"Chief... But where the hell is Chief?" the fourth guard spoke nervously before looking toward Reigns.
"Don’t look at me like that. Even I don’t know."
As the group exchanged words, a sudden loud grumbling sound echoed across the battlefield.
GRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOO!
The group instinctively turned toward the massive Shattered Canopy.
High above the enormous broken trunk, Nyxara fought wildly against the horrifying abomination.
The giant creature’s countless twisted faces writhed nonstop across its massive body. Some cried, some laughed, and others screamed in agony while black liquid dripped from their mouths.
Nyxara flashed across the battlefield like blue lightning, dodging giant arms that smashed apart the vines and shattered branches around them.
SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!
Her sword slashed repeatedly as bursts of blue light exploded one after another, sending chunks of rotten flesh flying into the air.
But suddenly, the abomination twisted its upper body unnaturally.
One of the distorted faces hidden near its shoulder opened its mouth wide.
SCREEECH!
A giant fleshy tongue shot out instantly.
Nyxara’s eyes widened slightly as the attack came from her blind side. Before she could fully dodge, the horrifying face slammed directly into her like a battering ram.
BOOOOM!
Nyxara was blasted backward violently and crashed through several giant wooden branches of the Shattered Canopy.
CRAAASH!
Broken splinters of wood exploded everywhere as her body smashed heavily against the massive surface of the canopy.
The abomination let out a horrifying roar before lunging toward her once again.
Its enormous body crawled across the shattered canopy in a twisted, unnatural manner while countless arms dragged its massive frame forward.
Nyxara barely managed to push herself up before a giant fleshy hand slammed directly into her.
BANG!
The impact sent another violent shockwave across the battlefield.
Nyxara was smashed downward and crashed heavily into the giant canopy surface, leaving behind a massive crater surrounded by broken vines and shattered wood.
Dust and smoke rose everywhere.
The abomination immediately raised its huge fist high into the air.
The giant arm began swelling unnaturally as muscles twisted and bulged around it. Within moments, several screaming faces appeared across the arm itself.
SCREEEEEECH!
The horrifying fist descended toward Nyxara.
Reigns’ expression changed instantly as he prepared himself to throw the scythe imbued with Arcane Blast.
"NYXARA!"
But just before the massive fist could crush her, something huge slammed into the abomination from the side.
BOOOOOOM!
The gigantic creature was blasted sideways violently, as if struck by a speeding truck.
Its massive body crashed across the Shattered Canopy, tearing apart giant branches and vines along the way.
Then the abomination slammed heavily into the massive broken trunk of the Shattered Canopy itself.
CRAAAAASH!
The entire structure trembled violently from the impact while countless chunks of broken wood rained down from above.
