Chapter 1968: Chapter 1968: Guidelines for Raising (9)

The air pressure in the car was low. Chuzheng used her paws to pat at Shang Qi.

Shang Qi felt that soft and tender sensation in his palm, snapped back a little, and met those deep, tranquil sapphire eyes.

For some reason, Shang Qi suddenly felt that this little thing was worried about him.

Maybe it was because there had been too much coldness around him. With this little bit of warmth added in, he could automatically interpret from it what he needed.

He raised his hand and stroked down Chuzheng’s back. "I’m fine."

When he first saw her, that voice in his heart had told him to bring her back. Looking at it now, that was the best decision he’d ever made.

Shang Qi said he was fine, and when they got back he also acted normal, eating together with Chuzheng.

But right after they finished eating, the moment Chuzheng zoned out, Shang Qi disappeared.

Then Chuzheng heard that same broken, repressed sound of the piano from last time, drifting out of the music room again.

The bodyguards heard the noise and all tensed up, some grabbing their phones to make calls. Overall it was anything but normal.

"There’s a car coming up!" Xiao Si suddenly said, "It’s a Shang family car."

The hall fell into a bizarre silence for a few seconds, leaving only that piano sound like a prelude from Hell.

Xiao Si broke the silence. "What do we do?"

The Boss made a snap decision. "Go stop the car and say sir has already turned in for the night."

As long as they didn’t come close, they wouldn’t hear the piano, and naturally wouldn’t be able to tell whether Shang Qi had really gone to sleep or not.

Three bodyguards immediately went out to block the car.

Xiao Si saw Chuzheng standing by the stairs and hurried over. "Yue Ban, I’ll take you back to your room."

Chuzheng avoided Xiao Si. Xiao Si scratched his head, remembering that this Little Cat didn’t allow anyone but sir to touch her.

Xiao Si tried to negotiate with Chuzheng, coaxing her back to her room.

Those deep, tranquil blue cat eyes glanced down at him with disdain, not giving him the time of day.

Xiao Si felt that although Chuzheng was smart, she wasn’t at the point of becoming a spirit. In the end she was still just a cat. With no way to deal with her, Xiao Si had no choice but to give up on sending her back to her room for now.

Right at this moment, sounds came from outside.

Hearing the commotion, Xiao Si’s brow twitched. So they hadn’t stopped them...

Sure enough, in the next second the entryway doors were shoved open hard and a middle‑aged man radiating fury strode in from outside.

The man was in a suit and leather shoes, imposing in presence, in his early forties. Even at his age his features were still handsome, enough to tell he’d been a looker when he was young.

Shang Yucheng came in with a cold snort. "Shang Qi, you sure have some nerve, daring to block even me! Where is he?!"

"Mr. Shang, there’s no need to work yourself up like this." A mild voice sounded from behind. "Rage harms the body. Mr. Shang, take care of your health."

As soon as Chuzheng heard that voice, a wave of nausea rose in her chest.

A young man walked in at an unhurried pace, handsome in appearance, lips curved in a faint smile. His whole person radiated gentleness, no sharp edges anywhere, making people unconsciously trust him. This was—He Jin.

The bastard who tricked the original host into dying with her eyes open.

He Jin was verbally advising Shang Yucheng, but his gaze fell on Chuzheng, the arc of his lips slowly lifting—Found you.

Chuzheng read those three words clearly in his eyes.

But Chuzheng was not intimidated. She very impolitely met his gaze head‑on.

Chuzheng’s reaction didn’t match what He Jin had expected, and a thin thread of doubt rose in his heart.

She actually wasn’t afraid of him anymore.

It seemed that while she’d been outside, some things he didn’t know about had happened.

"Mr. He." Shang Yucheng really did calm down after He Jin’s advice, and even made a gesture of invitation. "Please, come in."

He Jin followed Shang Yucheng into the hall.

Shang Qi’s bodyguards wanted to block them but didn’t dare. These were Shang family members, and Shang Qi’s attitude toward them was very strange; they didn’t dare make decisions on their own.

"Where’s Shang Qi?"

Shang Yucheng barked out.

"Tell him to get down here!"

Bodyguards: "..."

Only then did everyone realize that at some point the piano had gone silent, and the entire house was eerily quiet.

Shang Yucheng had stormed in full of anger, and at first hadn’t felt how empty the house was. Now that it suddenly turned quiet, he finally sensed that chill in the air.

"Sir..."

Xiao Si called toward the staircase.

Shang Qi stood on the stairs with his arms folded, gaze indifferent as he looked down.

The man’s face didn’t look too good. The hair at his forehead was slightly damp, and the corners of his eyes were a bit red, as if he’d just washed his face.

"Shang Qi, get your ass down here." The moment Shang Yucheng saw Shang Qi, his temper flared up again.

Shang Qi came down the stairs as told. As he passed by Chuzheng, he even bent down and reached out to stroke her. "Go upstairs first."

Chuzheng turned her head to look at He Jin and didn’t move.

He Jin obviously had some inhuman tricks. She couldn’t just leave her Good Person Card here.

You guard your own card!

"Be good."

Chuzheng shook her head.

"Shang Qi!" Being ignored, Shang Yucheng shouted furiously, "What kind of attitude is that? Just now you even had your people block me. This place belongs to the Shang family—what right do you have to block your old man?!"

Shang Qi couldn’t do anything about Chuzheng. He let go of her, straightened up. "Mr. Shang, I never wanted to live here. You’re the one who insisted I stay."

After he came of age he’d wanted to move out, but Shang Yucheng had refused to let him.

He didn’t want to cause trouble, especially any trouble involving the Shang family, and even less did he want to get into it with Shang Yucheng over something like this.

Shang Yucheng: "..."

Shang Yucheng’s face shifted through several shades and finally darkened. "I’m not here to talk to you about that. Did you see Shanyu today? What did you do to her?"

Chuzheng’s ears twitched. That Shang Shanyu had an incident?

She’d already made sure Shang Qi didn’t interact too much with Shang Shanyu. How did something still happen? With that fall Shang Shanyu took back then, at most it should’ve hurt for a bit...

Shang Qi’s voice was cool. "I saw her. I didn’t do anything."

"If you didn’t do anything then how did Shanyu end up that badly hurt? She’s your younger sister—how could you treat her like that?"

Shang Qi’s hanging hand clenched tight. "I said, I didn’t do anything to her." For Shang Shanyu, he’d actually rush over in the middle of the night to interrogate him... what an honor.

"The last person Shanyu saw was you. Who else could it be but you?"

"She was perfectly fine when I left."

"I didn’t!"

"It’s all because of you, you disaster star. If you hadn’t shown up in front of Shanyu, how would she have gotten hurt? Whenever you appear, people around you have accidents. Shang Qi, how long are you going to keep harming us?!"

Shang Qi’s face turned pale. The hand hanging by his side clenched so tight the veins on the back of it stood out.

Shang Qi suddenly raised his head and met Shang Yucheng’s furious eyes. His thin lips parted, his tone edged with a bitter sarcasm. "Mr. Shang, why didn’t you just strangle me to death back then?"

Shang Yucheng: "!!"

The next second, Shang Yucheng grabbed something from beside him and hurled it at Shang Qi. "You bastard!"

Shang Qi didn’t dodge or flinch. It was about to hit him when Chuzheng suddenly leaped up and pounced at him.

Shang Qi was briefly startled and had no choice but to reach out and catch Chuzheng, dodging the object flying at him at the same time.

Crash—

The glass hit the railing behind them and shattered all over the floor.

Holding Chuzheng in his arms, Shang Qi’s face was white as he lowered his head to scold her. "What did you jump over for?"

Chuzheng: "..."

What, I was supposed to just watch you get smashed? I don’t think the Bastard would allow that!
