Chapter 1966: Chapter 1966: Pet Care Rules (7)

Shang Qi didn’t want to argue with a child, so he ignored her.

Shang Shanyu was relentless, thinking she could outsmart Shang Qi, but he saw through her and she ended up getting hurt instead.

Then Father Shang arrived and saw this scene, smacking Shang Qi on the spot, accusing him of causing trouble for his sister, and asking why he couldn’t stay quietly on the mountain.

Afterwards, Shang Shanyu would always appear in front of Shang Qi, reminding him of how unwelcome, disliked, and even hated his presence was.

Soon after, because of Shang Shanyu’s injury, Shang Qi found it almost impossible to play the piano again.

Already teetering on the edge of losing control, Shang Qi completely darkened.

-

Now Shang Qi was about to attend the charity event where he had met Shang Shanyu, this time as the concluding guest.

The journey from the mountain to the city took some time, and by the time they arrived, celebrities were already starting to walk the red carpet.

Shang Qi rarely appeared like this, so his car drove directly through the reserved passage straight to the backstage.

"Teacher Shang." The person sent by the organizers to welcome him opened the car door in place of a bodyguard.

Shang Qi got out of the car holding Chuzheng, and the person was visibly surprised—why was he bringing a cat?

But, Teacher Shang was really good-looking!

The man had a cold and distant demeanor, like an immortal descending to the mortal realm, aloof yet dignified, carrying a beautiful cat whose fluffy white tail wrapped around his wrist—obedient and adorable.

What an immortal combination!

The staff was internally overwhelmed, almost couldn’t hold back a scream.

Fortunately, her professionalism pulled her back to reality, and her job was to arrange everything for Shang Qi, not daring to entertain any thoughts at this moment.

"Teacher Shang, this way please."

Chuzheng lay on Shang Qi’s shoulder, her furry head nuzzling against his neck. Shang Qi held Chuzheng, showing no expression but his actions were very affectionate.

The bodyguard carrying the box and the clothes in the dust cover quickly followed.

"Teacher Shang, this is your dressing room. There’s still plenty of time, you can change clothes, do your makeup, and then take a rest. If you need anything, just let me know."

Shang Qi nodded indifferently and turned to enter the dressing room, asking the person to leave.

Once the dressing room door closed, the bodyguard hung up his clothes without rushing him to change.

"There are many people here, you’re not allowed to run around." Shang Qi sat down with Chuzheng, his fingertip on her forehead: "Did you hear me?"

Chuzheng was just shy of rolling her eyes at him.

"Yue Ban?" Shang Qi placed Chuzheng on the table, leveling his gaze with hers: "I know you understand, nod your head."

I refuse! Just because you tell me to nod, I must?

Chuzheng turned her head to the side, her paw pressed against her own tail, beginning to play with it.

Shang Qi seemed to sigh helplessly, his finger hooked onto Chuzheng’s head, then rested on the tag around her neck, slowly sliding over the words Yue Ban, before gradually letting go.

Occasionally, noises echoed from the corridor outside, soon fading away.

Shang Qi sat to the side reading a book, the atmosphere in the dressing room was harmonious.

During this, a person from the event organizers came to confirm with Shang Qi and, seeing a cat beside Shang Qi, was somewhat surprised.

Most celebrities keep pets; some genuinely love them, while others might just be using them as part of their image to attract fans.

But how many people actually bring their pets to work settings?

"Teacher Shang’s cat is really cute, is this a Ragdoll cat?" Nonetheless, compliments were necessary.

"Yes." Shang Qi responded coolly.

The person coughed, helpfully reminding Shang Qi, "There are a lot of people backstage; Teacher Shang, keep an eye on this little guy."

Shang Qi slightly nodded: "I’ll keep an eye on it."

Seeing that Shang Qi wasn’t eager to talk further, the person wisely left the dressing room.

The event outside had started, Shang Qi had requested the organizers not place him outside, so he didn’t need to go out, only going on stage later.

Shang Qi set the book aside and got up to leave the dressing room.

Chuzheng immediately stood up, following Shang Qi.

Shang Qi halted, turning to look at her, his finger pointing in the air: "Yue Ban, wait here, I’ll be right back."

How could Chuzheng agree? If let out, how would she rescue him if something happened? By what means?

So for every step Shang Qi took, she mirrored it.

At the doorway, seeing her still following, Shang Qi frowned slightly.

The little one seemed particularly clingy today...

Shang Qi crouched down: "What’s wrong?"

Chuzheng also sat, silently looking at him.

"..."

"..."

The air felt inexplicably awkward.

Shang Qi pulled out his phone, his fingers gliding over the screen, Chuzheng unable to see what was on it.

But the bodyguard standing behind could see clearly.

They watched as Mr. Shang opened a search engine, typing ’why cats suddenly become clingy,’ and hit search.

Bodyguard: "..."

They pretended not to see anything.

Shang Qi earnestly examined the search results.

[Could be hungry; after all, cats only acknowledge you as their owner when you’re feeding them, otherwise, they are your owner.]

Shang Qi dismissed this answer, as meal times synced with his, so hunger wasn’t possible.

[Did you just get back from a trip? Perhaps it hasn’t seen you for a while, hence being clingy.]

Definitely not the case, dismissed.

[What’s wrong with being clingy? Mine sits aloof on the fridge every day, I can’t even touch it, driving me to self-isolation.]

Not useful, dismissed.

[Does it want a mate?]

Huh?

Shang Qi glanced at the little one sitting in front of him—surely...not?

The description continued, Shang Qi read further: [If it’s truly seeking a mate, consider spaying/neutering. Science-based pet care...]

Shang Qi immediately closed this page.

His slender fingers quickly skimmed through the page without finding anything useful.

Shang Qi put his phone away, saying: "I need to go to the restroom, you can’t follow me."

Chuzheng pretended not to understand.

Shang Qi had no choice but to leave it be and opened the dressing room door to exit.

Chuzheng followed beside him, stopping at the restroom door, Shang Qi looking down at her: "Wait here."

Seeing Chuzheng sit down, he gestured for the bodyguard to keep an eye on her, then entered the restroom.

"Wow! Such a pretty kitty!" Shang Qi had just gone inside when an excited voice burst forth.

Chuzheng’s view darkened, a young girl blocked her and reached out to touch her.

The bodyguard reacted swiftly, blocking the girl: "Sorry, you can’t touch."

The girl was startled, hesitating momentarily before pointing at Chuzheng with watery eyes, pleading: "I just find her cute, can’t I touch her?"

"No." The bodyguard coldly refused.

The girl clasped hands in appeal: "Just one touch, she’s really adorable!"

Still unmoved, the bodyguard said: "I’m sorry, you cannot."

The girl unhappily pouted, looking at Chuzheng with eyes full of reluctance.
