Chapter 1964: Chapter 1964: Care and Feeding Rules (Part 5)

Chuzheng’s protest was not taken seriously by Shang Qi, who quickly had a name tag made and hung it around Chuzheng’s neck.

Chuzheng: "..."

Just you wait!

Not only that, Shang Qi also labeled all the items Chuzheng used that could be labeled.

Chuzheng felt the Good Person Card would die young.

Chuzheng had been at the manor for several days, and apart from that one day Shang Qi went out, he hadn’t left since.

Chuzheng didn’t have any electronic devices, and still hadn’t figured out what exactly Shang Qi’s identity was.

Chuzheng lay on the windowsill basking in the moonlight, vaguely hearing the sound of a piano drifting in.

The piano music was intermittent and its tune was unknown, making it uncomfortable to listen to.

Especially in the middle of the night, it felt even more eerie.

Chuzheng jumped down from the windowsill and headed out through the half-open door.

Outside, bodyguards Xiao Wu and Xiao Si were standing together, speaking in hushed tones.

"Keep an eye on Yue Ban, don’t let it go upstairs."

"I’ll go notify Doctor Du first."

"Check everywhere else, make sure there are no mistakes."

Chuzheng only understood part of it but had a sense that something might be wrong with the Good Person Card.

A Good Person Card that doesn’t have problems isn’t a Good Person Card.

Taking advantage of their distraction, Chuzheng quickly slipped away.

She moved silently and swiftly, the two bodyguards didn’t notice her at all.

Chuzheng quickly went upstairs, following the intermittent piano music to a room.

Chuzheng remembered this room was locked, and now the music was coming from inside.

So, Shang Qi might be inside...

Just then, a sharp note from the piano inside lingered like a death knell.

Bang—

A heavy object hit the ground with a dull thud, the piano music stopped, and the room fell into dead silence.

Chuzheng grabbed the door handle to open it, but it wouldn’t budge, it was locked from the inside.

Chuzheng immediately took out Yin Xian to unlock it from the inside.

The room was unlit, but the light from outside came in, barely enabling a view of the room’s layout.

In the middle stood a piano, its bench knocked over, with white curtains billowing in the wind.

Aside from that, the room was empty.

Shang Qi was not there.

He wasn’t in the room.

Chuzheng looked around and found no one, it was as if she had imagined it all.

Chuzheng checked the room and found nothing unusual, and then swiftly exited.

Bodyguard Xiao Si was standing in the hall below; when Chuzheng descended, Xiao Si noticed her: "Yue Ban, how did you get out?"

Damn it, Yue Ban!

"Xiao Si, come here." Someone called to Xiao Si.

Xiao Si glanced at Chuzheng and, caring little whether she understood or not, said, "Don’t run around."

Xiao Si quickly left with the person who’d called him.

Chuzheng: "..."

This damn body of mine.

Chuzheng pondered for a moment, then followed Xiao Si outside, but he was only answering a phone call and did nothing else.

The other bodyguards stood outside, checking their watches or gazing at the sky, seemingly doing nothing in particular.

-

An hour later.

Chuzheng saw Shang Qi enter from outside, covered with the night’s frost and looking pale and frail.

A young doctor followed him in.

The young doctor frowned and advised, "Shang Qi, you can’t keep going like this."

"I know what I’m doing."

Shang Qi replied coldly and sat on the sofa.

The young doctor sighed and opened his medical kit. As Chuzheng approached from the stairs, Shang Qi glanced at her and stopped the young doctor’s hand.

"What are you doing? Are you not even seeing the doctor now?" The young doctor’s face was full of incredulity as if asking, ’Do you think you’re untouchable?’

While the young doctor spoke, Chuzheng swiftly jumped onto the back of the sofa, looking down at Shang Qi.

Apart from looking pale, Shang Qi didn’t seem to have any other issues.

Chuzheng scrutinized him for two seconds; unable to speak, she could only look at him with a noble, aloof demeanor.

"Hey, whose cat is this?" The young doctor, now distracted by Chuzheng, exclaimed in surprise.

"Found it on the street." Shang Qi’s tone was unemotional.

"Why did you suddenly decide to get a cat?" The young doctor was evidently familiar with Shang Qi.

"..."

Shang Qi didn’t answer.

Even he didn’t know why he’d picked it up then.

When he saw the little creature from his car, drooping and forlorn at the street corner, his first thought was to take it home and care for it.

And that’s exactly what he did.

As it looked at him now, Shang Qi felt a bit uneasy. Those calm and deep blue eyes seemed to see through everything.

Shang Qi averted his gaze: "Let’s go to the study."

"Why go to the study? It’s not like there’s anyone else here." The young doctor was baffled.

Shang Qi was already moving, heading upstairs.

The young doctor rolled his eyes in exasperation and cursed, "You’re going to wear yourself out one day!"

Chuzheng jumped down to follow Shang Qi, but they moved so quickly that Chuzheng nearly got her nose bumped by the door.

Chuzheng: "..."

Damn it!

What is the Good Person Card up to without me?

Bully me just because I can’t talk!

Chuzheng pressed her ear to the door to listen but heard nothing.

Her eyes flicked around, and she quickly ran to the window, jumping out and climbing to the study’s window.

But unfortunately, the window was covered by curtains.

Chuzheng: "..."

-

Inside the study.

The young doctor finished his treatment, packing up his things, and reminded Shang Qi to get rest. Then he changed the subject: "That cat looks quite pretty. Did you really find it?" What stray cat looks like that?

"Uh-huh."

The young doctor raised a brow: "Where did you find it? I want to get one too."

Shang Qi told him an address. He really had found the cat, so there was nothing to hide.

"... So you’re planning to keep it?"

"Uh-huh." Shang Qi fastened his cufflinks, his eyes carrying an emotion the young doctor couldn’t decipher: "It’s very well-behaved."

Young doctor: "Alright, after all, there’s not much life here. A cat could be nice. What’s its name?"

"Yue Ban."

The young doctor clicked his tongue with a half-smile, then gave Shang Qi a few more pieces of advice before leaving with his medical kit.

As he walked downstairs, he caught sight of Chuzheng leaping in through the window, preparing to hop down from the sill.

The young doctor raised his brow, approaching directly, intending to pat Chuzheng’s head.

"Hey there, chubby, let me give you a pat."

Chuzheng: "..." Pervert! Who are you calling chubby! You’re the chubby one!

Chuzheng’s eyes turned fierce, glaring at the young doctor, who was taken aback; how could a cat’s eyes look so human?

It was said that cats were intuitive, and it seemed to be true.

The young doctor muttered, "Feisty little thing..." though he didn’t give up and still tried to touch Chuzheng.

Chuzheng swatted at him, leaving a scratch on the young doctor’s hand.

"Hiss..." The young doctor pointed at Chuzheng: "Why are you so fierce, little one? I wouldn’t hurt you!"

Chuzheng: "..." Who knows what you intend to do to such a cute little me! It’s one thing for the Good Person Card to pet me, but where does a random rooster like you get off thinking you can touch me too! Do I not deserve any respect!

"What are you doing?"

Shang Qi heard the commotion and came out of the study, just in time to see the young doctor pointing at Chuzheng.

Chuzheng immediately jumped off the window sill and bolted over to Shang Qi.

Shang Qi bent down to lift her up, and Chuzheng’s paws rested on his shoulders, like holding a child.

"Your cat’s got quite a temper." The young doctor showed his scratched hand in complaint: "Look, it scratched me?"

"It’s never scratched me," said Shang Qi.

The young doctor was momentarily speechless: was this a brag?
