Chapter 1933: Chapter 1933: Mirror World (10)
Today, such a sudden change made all three people present a bit shocked.
Father Cheng snorted, said nothing, and switched to looking at his phone instead of the newspaper.
"Brother..."
Qu An leaned towards Cheng Mu.
Cheng Mu glanced at him with disgust, warning, "Don’t talk to me."
"..."
Father Cheng looked up, just about to scold him for how he talked to his brother, when the woman quickly pressed his arm and shook her head at him.
-
Year 2019.
When Chuzheng returned after breakfast, Cheng Mu was already in the room, pacing back and forth with a somber expression.
——Not going to class yet?
Cheng Mu’s peripheral vision caught the mirror, and he immediately turned to face it.
"I’m not going; I have questions for you."
——Go to class.
Cheng Mu: "..."
Cheng Mu packed his books into his backpack, left the room, walked a distance, then turned back to lock the room.
The servants would never enter his room without his permission.
But ever since that cheap younger brother arrived, if he didn’t lock the door, the brother would definitely intrude.
-
In the next couple of days, Cheng Mu and Chuzheng communicated quite a lot and roughly figured out the mirror’s function and some rules.
For instance, to transfer items, both people must be in their rooms, and the item should be placed on the table.
The transfer time is fixed at 2 AM.
Cheng Mu also confirmed with Chuzheng that there was no connection between them apart from both having a mirror facing the bed; they had no idea why they could communicate.
Cheng Mu now dared not be undressed in his room, always dressing conservatively.
Chuzheng sighed, resting her face in her hands; even though Cheng Mu knew he couldn’t be seen after eleven, he never undressed in front of the mirror anymore.
Seeing his card through the mirror was so frustrating...
He couldn’t even touch it!!
——Aren’t you living at school yet?
"No." Cheng Mu answered the question from the mirror while writing equations.
He had indeed thought about living at school... but had only thought about it, not taking any action.
——Stay away from that brother of yours.
"You don’t like him either?" Cheng Mu spun his pen. "You haven’t met him, right?"
——He likes you.
The pen in Cheng Mu’s hand dropped onto the table, and his expression was shocked and terrified.
"What did you say?"
——He likes you; stay away from him.
"He’s... he’s a guy!"
——What’s wrong with being a guy?
Yes, what’s wrong with being a guy?
Nowadays, there are plenty of such people; everyone’s acceptance has grown compared to before. If you’re exceptionally handsome, you’d even be envied by many.
Did he feel that Qu An’s gaze was strange?
Cheng Mu picked up the pen after a while, bowed his head, and worked on another equation, only to find out he got it wrong.
Cheng Mu crossed it out, looked up at the mirror, and asked, "How do you know?" How could she know ten years apart that Qu An liked him.
——Investigated.
Chuzheng straightforwardly told him, not bothering to hide that she had thoroughly investigated everything about him.
"What am I like in the future?"
"There’s no you in the future."
Cheng Mu puzzled: "What do you mean?"
——I can’t find out where you are now.
Cheng Mu: "..."
Cheng Mu seemed unable to accept this answer and quietly worked through pages of problems without speaking.
"It’s eleven; I’m going to bed." Cheng Mu whispered, closed the book, and got up to leave the front of the mirror.
Chuzheng heard the sound of the shower, so she flipped through a textbook out of boredom.
Cheng Mu’s phone on the table rang, but he didn’t hear it and it hung up automatically, only to persistently ring again.
The bathroom door opened, and Chuzheng saw the boy walk over with wet hair to answer the call.
"I’m at home. Don’t remember, let’s talk tomorrow. No, that’s it."
Cheng Mu ended the call and looked up at his reflection in the mirror; his just-bathed skin had a rosy tint. He pursed his lips and put on his clothes.
Actually, he didn’t like this skin tone; too white... it made him look a bit effeminate.
Yet, he was born with this complexion; there was nothing he could do.
-
Once the room lights were turned off, Chuzheng couldn’t see anything and had to resume her own activities.
Early the next morning, Chuzheng found that the mirror was showing her own room. Did the Good Person Card leave so early today?
Cheng Mu not only had left early but had also not returned for two consecutive days.
After Cheng Mu finished the speech and stepped off the stage.
"Brother Mu, awesome! I’m sure this time you’ll get first place." A boy with a baseball cap approached, hooking his arm around Cheng Mu’s shoulder.
Cheng Mu used to be okay with such camaraderie among guys, but ever since knowing that the cheap brother harbored feelings for him, he felt a psychological shadow.
Cheng Mu pushed the boy with the baseball cap away. "Don’t touch."
"What’s the big deal; it’s not like you’re a virgin maiden." The boy with the baseball cap shrugged it off, trying to place his arm again on his brother’s shoulder.
Cheng Mu refused, and the two jostled with each other.
Just then, someone called him from behind.
"Cheng Mu."
Cheng Mu turned around; not far away, the class monitor was snapping a photo with a camera, capturing the moment.
Cheng Mu: "..."
The scene overlapped with one he had seen in a photograph before.
"What are you thinking about?" The boy with the baseball cap waved a hand in front of Cheng Mu: "All distracted; do you have a crush on our class monitor?"
"No."
"Brother Mu, don’t be shy. Our class monitor is the school flower, beautiful, a top student; you two are the Golden Boy and Jade Girl."
Cheng Mu cast a cold glance over, and the boy with the baseball cap quickly surrendered, raising his hands. "Okay, okay, no more talking about it. Hey, Brother Mu, don’t be mad; how about going out tonight?"
"Not going."
"Brother Mu, what’s up with you!!"
Cheng Mu strode off, returned to the classroom, and recalled that photograph. He got up and walked to the class monitor’s desk, gently knocking at the table’s surface.
The classroom quieted down a bit, and the class monitor looked at him nervously. "Cheng Mu? Is there something you need?"
Cheng Mu opened his mouth. "That photograph... forget it, never mind."
If he retrieved it now, it’d be changing the fact that the photograph stayed with the monitor.
Someone once said... it could affect the future.
The class monitor, however, was stirred with excitement because of Cheng Mu’s words; he actually allowed her to keep that photo!! Ahh!!!
The class monitor’s inward thrill went unnoticed by Cheng Mu. Once school was out, he headed home.
Yet, he found the other side seemed absent.
Cheng Mu waited until eleven at night, but still there was no activity from that side.
He wondered what had compelled him to rush back.
Feeling suffocated with frustration, Cheng Mu went to shower and sleep.
-
The weekend.
Cheng Mu played games, occasionally glancing at the mirror, which had remained silent for two days.
Did something happen to that person?
Due to his distracted gameplay, his team was wiped out, and he was kicked from the group.
Exasperated, he sat for a while and was about to leave with his clothes when his peripheral vision caught sight of writing on the mirror.
Cheng Mu paused, staring at the mirror.
——Help me with something.
Cheng Mu instinctively asked, "How can I help you?"
——You can.
