Chapter 1932: Chapter 1932: Mirror World (9)
The electronic clock by the bed was sluggishly ticking away the time.
The young man paced around the room, sometimes sitting down to read a book, other times snacking, glancing occasionally at the mirror.
He wanted to see what would happen at 2 a.m.
The time was gradually approaching 2 a.m.
When the last second ticked away and the clock displayed 02:00, Cheng Mu saw a file folder appear on the table out of thin air.
Cheng Mu: "..."
The writing on the mirror could be explained by some high-tech methods he didn’t know, but how could he explain this object that suddenly appeared?
Cheng Mu instinctively felt around the inside and outside of the table.
He’s very familiar with this table; it couldn’t have any hidden mechanisms, so...
Cheng Mu tightened his grip, took a deep breath, and opened the file folder.
Inside the folder were newspapers and photos.
The newspaper was dated August 26, 2029. Cheng Mu skimmed through it quickly; the contents were completely unfamiliar, but some mentioned addresses or companies were known to him.
The newspaper could be faked, so it wasn’t very credible.
The photos contained various subjects: buildings, streets, pictures of TV broadcasts, and even... his current school, along with him and his classmates?
The school didn’t appear much changed, but his former class teacher in the photo looked significantly older.
Cheng Mu’s heart raced.
How was this possible...
He had never taken a photo with anyone before; where did this picture come from? And it looked somewhat aged...
——Good luck with the speech.
Cheng Mu stared at the words appearing in the mirror, momentarily frozen.
The background in the photo indeed showed a speech event, with a banner for the XX Speech Contest, which was scheduled for next week.
Cheng Mu swallowed hard, his thoughts momentarily chaotic.
The speech event was next week, and the banner hadn’t been brought back yet. How could there be such a photo?
"Where did the photo come from?"
——Your class president gave it to you.
"Class president?"
Cheng Mu was bewildered; how could he allow the class president to take photos and keep them with her?
After a while, Cheng Mu looked up, his dark eyes fixating on the mirror: "Can you... see me?"
——Yes.
Neat handwriting appeared.
Cheng Mu’s breath halted: "Can you also hear me speak?"
——Mm.
"..." If this were true, then everything he did in the room would have been seen?
Cheng Mu suddenly felt uncomfortable, as if prying eyes were watching him everywhere, scrutinizing and spying on him.
He quickly donned his jacket, zipped it up fully, covering his neck.
——There’s one more piece of newspaper in the file folder.
Cheng Mu immediately opened the folder, taking out the newspaper.
September 26, 2019.
He frowned at the date on the newspaper; it was... tomorrow’s newspaper?
——Check tomorrow to see if the newspaper matches this one.
-
Father Cheng answered the phone while descending the stairs, and a woman wearing an apron smiled as she went up to straighten his collar.
Father Cheng hung up: "Hasn’t Xiaoan gotten up yet?"
The woman turned back to the kitchen, bringing out breakfast: "He just got up."
"Uncle, good morning." Before the woman could finish, Qu An appeared at the stairs, backpack in hand.
"Good morning, Xiaoan." Father Cheng pulled out a chair and sat down: "Eat breakfast quickly; I’ll drop you off at school on my way."
"Mu Mu hasn’t gotten up yet; I’ll go check..."
"Why care about him? Looks like he doesn’t want to go to school anymore." Father Cheng’s previously mild expression instantly turned grim.
"Why are you being petty with the kids?" The woman shook her head, planning to go call someone upstairs.
Qu An handed his backpack to the woman, taking on the task: "Mom, I’ll go."
Just as Qu An was preparing to go upstairs, he heard footsteps approaching from behind, and then Cheng Mu dashed downstairs like a gust of wind.
Father Cheng was reading today’s newspaper, and Cheng Mu grabbed it and hurried back upstairs.
Father Cheng, whose newspaper was taken: "..."
Cheng Mu took the newspaper upstairs and compared it one by one with the previous one; the content on each page was exactly the same.
If a newspaper employee got hold of a pre-printed newspaper in advance, it wouldn’t be impossible.
But before he got the newspaper, one of the incidents reported hadn’t happened yet.
Therefore...
Cheng Mu shivered, reality forcing him to believe that someone from 2029 was communicating with him through this mirror.
After the shock, Cheng Mu stood dazed for a while before forcing himself to accept it.
He looked at the mirror: "Are you there?"
The mirror remained silent for a long time.
Not there?
-
2029.
Chuzheng woke up to see the young man pacing back and forth in the room, occasionally glancing at the mirror.
Chuzheng noticed that as long as Cheng Mu was in the room, the mirror would display something, but if he left for five minutes, the mirror would return to normal.
Chuzheng got out of bed and used lipstick to write on the mirror.
——Do you believe now?
The youth in the mirror moved exaggeratedly toward the mirror.
"What is going on here?"
——Don’t know.
Cheng Mu wanted to understand what was happening; Chuzheng was still figuring it out and could only tell him what she knew.
Everything had been verified, making it hard for Cheng Mu not to believe.
The mirror in his room could truly communicate with someone from the future.
"Why can you see me, but I can’t see you?" That was so unfair.
——Don’t know.
"Are you male or female?"
——Female.
Cheng Mu instinctively tightened his clothes: "You... how long have you been able to see me? Did you see anything you shouldn’t have?"
Damn!
Thinking back to being alone in the room before, whatever he did was clearly visible to her.
Cheng Mu tried hard to remember; it seemed like he hadn’t done anything too outrageous in the room during this time.
——Do you want me to see something I shouldn’t?
The young man stood silently, his expression somewhat unpleasant.
Chuzheng admired for a moment, then slowly wrote.
——I haven’t seen much yet nor anything inappropriate.
Chuzheng considered something——after 11 p.m., I can’t see.
Chuzheng clearly saw the young man breathe a sigh of relief.
Once the unimaginable is accepted, it becomes less shocking and turns into mere curiosity.
Cheng Mu distanced himself from the mirror: "How old are you?"
——Twenty-six.
Cheng Mu thought for a moment: "As you say, in your timeline it’s 2029, so in 2019, you should be sixteen."
——Mm.
"Do we live in the same city?"
——Mm.
"Where do you live?"
——I don’t advise you to find the 2019 version of me.
"Why?" Cheng Mu asked curiously.
——Because that’s not really me. Also, once you find the 2019 version of me, the future will change.
The future will change...
Whatever Cheng Mu was thinking about, he didn’t respond for a while.
Chuzheng erased everything written.
——Didn’t sleep well last night?
"..."
Who could sleep!
——Go have breakfast.
Cheng Mu left the room, and only after closing the door did he realize why he was being so obedient?
However, since he was already out, Cheng Mu went downstairs and sat down to have breakfast in front of three pairs of eyes.
Since the stepmother had entered the house, Cheng Mu had either taken food upstairs to eat alone or simply didn’t come down, having never sat at this table for a meal.
