Chapter 37: "We shall give it our all young lord..."
"That the smell of breakfast..."
Leo said, giving the young woman a hard glare.
Everyone else had played a role throughout the night while she slept like a baby.
"Hmmm...!"
The young woman grunted as she ignored Leo’s look and went to releive her self in the bushes.
"We need a latrine..."
Leo took note of this, adding it to things that had to be done before setting camp.
After breakfast,he sat everyone down to plan the days work,only the little boy was exempted,as Leo had instructed him to rest.
"We do not have enough stones to complete that..."
Leo said as he pointed at the foundation of his house.
"But we have enough stones to lay down a foundation for an inn..."
The three leaned closer as they saw Leo unroll a square cut piece of hide. On his right hand was a wet piece of charcoal.
"This is a sketch of what the clearing looks like..."
Leo said as he drew a square on the cut piece of hide. Though the system sweep had covered a diameter of two hundred and fifty feet, giving his territory a circular shape,Leo had decided on picking out a square shape perimeter for the territory.
The square dimensions were two hundred and thirty feet by two hundred and thirty feet. He further divided the square into four equal squares,before drawing a circle,forty-six feet in diameter,at the center, cutting a portion from each of the four squares.
"This will be the general layout of the camp..."
Leo said as he pointed at the sketch.
"This region..."
He pointed at the centre circle.
"Will not just act as the central region,but it is where my house will be located, covering a radius of twenty feet..."
"The space between this small circle and the big circle will act as a buffer and a link amongst all the other sectors..."
Leo explained,as he pointed between the two circles,the distance between them was six feet.
"The roads will be six feet wide..."
"Three feet will be deducted from each of these four sections..."
"There will only be two gates,the main gate at the southern wall,and the northern gate that will lead to the territory farms..."
Leo pointed at the location of the two gates,each located at the end of the road.
"There will be a guards tower here and here..."
The two points that Leo pointed out were at the end middle of the east wall and the west wall,where the eastern and western road ended.
"This sector..."
Leo pointed at the bottom left region of the sketch.
"Will house the garrison, training grounds, territory workshops,a well,a small communal park and a communal latrine..."
"This region..."
Leo pointed at the bottom right sector.
"Will house the open air market at the center,a couple of inns, a tavern, shops,an auction house, communal park, communal latrines,a communal well and workshops..."
Leo planned on building a small workshop for the main professions. There would be a smithy,a carpentry,a tailor shop and a jewelry shop. As for the tannery,since a lot of space is needed for the processing and drying of the hides,he will have one built in the farmlands.
"As for this region..."
Leo pointed at the top right sector.
"Will be the residential sector,with cabins, a communal latrine,a communal well and a communal park..."
"The space between two cabins will be three feet while that between two rows of cabins will be six feet..."
"The communal latrine will come here,the park at the centre and the well here..."
Leo marked the three points, before moving to the top left region.
"This sector will house the warehouse,the granaries,a school, the administration hall,a school,a luxurious inn,a communal park,a communal latrine,a communal well and a couple of private courtyards..."
The more Leo explained,the more the three were awed,and they could not help but sneek curious looks at their young lord. At the moment,the current young lord was not a twelve year old lad but had the aura of an experienced strategic planner and executer. It felt like the person seated across them was some old dude.
"But most of the building is for later..."
Leo said.
The three unconsciously heaved in relive. Listening to the young lord plan out the camps layout had them tensed. They each wondered wether they had what it took to bring the young lord’s dream to life.
The work alone would take them months,if not years.
As for the resources available,these were not enough for such a massive project.
"Today,let us focus on what we can achieve..."
Leo said.
"The stones available are enough to lay a foundation of the first inn..."
Leo said as he pointed at the bottom right corner and marked a section of it with a small rectangul. He further divided the rectangle into four sections,all with different dimensions.
"The inn will measure twenty feet by fifteen feet..."
"This line. cuts the inn into two sections of twenty feet by seven and a half feet..."
Leo pointed at the line dividing the big rectangle into two equal rectangles.
"This section will cover the kitchen and this will cover the reception while this will be where the in-house washrooms will be located..."
Leo said as he pointed at each section.
"The kitchen will cover a twelve feet by seven and a half feet space,the reception will cover the remaining space here..."
"The washrooms at the back will take up a four feet by seven and a half feet space..."
Leo explained as he put down the wet piece of charcoal. The tips of his fingers had already darkened.
"Hu will teach you how to make ash paste,and it will be your task to gather as much dry grass as you can find..."
Leo said to the young woman,who just nodded.
""As for you two,it will be your job to ensure that the foundation is done in two days time..."
