Chapter 144: The Rejected Chick
Felix gazed at the beautiful myriads of branches below the crown of the gargantuan tree.
He was silent for a while, fully admiring the breath-taking view in front of him.
He finally replied, "If this is not Yggdrasil, then what is it?"
Mei gazed what he was looking at and said with a tone tinge with disappointment, "Just an imitation. A failure. Yggdrasil is a world tree, can they claim this is a world tree?"
Felix couldn’t answer. Mei’s words were reasonable. He also couldn’t help but wonder what Yggdrasil was like.
Mei said, "There are hundreds of phoenix’s nests below. But the closer the nest to us, the higher their potential. This has been proven many times, so I suggest you observe on that nest and try see if among them fits you."
There were six chicks in the large nest. They already developed soft ember-like feathers. They were scattered around the nest, with three of them engaging in a conversation.
Felix scrutinized each of them and heard Guide said:
[Each of them possessed a legendary bloodline. You can choose among them, Host.]
Felix was stunned. He turned towards Mei and asked, "What bloodlines they possessed?"
Mei stared at the chicks and instantly replied, "An epic rank bloodline. However, not one beast tamer was successful in cultivating them, though. As for the monarchs, Walter Miller was known to possess a roc with fire energy instead.
As for the purity of their bloodline, it was undoubtedly pure, just that, the beast tamer often holds them back. Their mother was the same case, she only reached Unique Rank, becoming a phoenix already. She has the potential to reach the Epic rank, but her master was currently searching for the evolutionary materials.
Really, unfortunate. I truly wish to see a real phoenix before I die."
Felix was surprised. He had not expected for Mei to possess deep admiration towards phoenixes.
Felix glanced at one of the chicks and observed their behavior, whether it suit his preferences.
At the same time, he replied, "I’ll let you see soon."
Mei’s eyes sparkled. She trembled in excitements as she gazed at Felix.
Felix had proven his promise when he was in the dojo before. At first, everyone believed it was absurd and impossible for him to reach Top 1 in a mere two months, but he had proven them wrong.
Now that Felix had again claimed to raise a real phoenix—one that surpassed the Epic rank, there was a possibility to happen in the future.

Felix continued to observe the six chicks. That was then he noticed one chick that had been outcasted by the other chicks.
He didn’t notice at the beginning because that one chick seemed to be isolated. But he started to notice it felt lonely instead and dejected.
It tried to cling to others but when it was rejected, it hung its head low and glued itself to the wall of the nest. When it had strength and beginning to feel hopeful, it tried to socialize with others again, but was rejected.
Felix felt it was a pity. The chick was really clingy and sweet.
He was already fond of it.
He turned towards Mei and asked, "I have one that I want to take now."
Mei suddenly curled her lips and said in a mischievous tone, "Then, take it."
Felix was taken aback. He glanced at the nest again and the distance between the nest and his position was akin to a ten-story building.
He said, "I can take it but will its mother allow me?"
"Is the mother present, though?"
As soon as he heard so, Felix didn’t hesitate to bend his knees and jumped towards the nest.
Mei was taken aback. She immediately had her hawks to follow Felix but not save him from the fall.
She was serious about what she had said. If Felix wanted a beast pet, to prove he was a beast tamer, he must tame and obtain it.
The result of his evaluation process earlier already proved he was compatible to pretty much every beast with fire energy.
However, to obtain a beast pet wasn’t easy. The Beast Rearing Department would simply cultivate beasts, not to treat them like a slave.
Mei was honestly surprised and awestruck by Felix’s decisive response. She watched as Felix dived into the nest and landed beautifully.
As soon as the chicks perceived the tremor, they instantly glanced at Felix and scurried away from him.
Most of them were even rolling to the floor out of panic.
The chick that Felix had laid his eyes into gazed at him with eyes filled with terror. It was even more horrified when Felix gazed at it.
Yet, for some strange reason, it simmered down. Felix’s gentle gaze lessened its anxiety.
Felix beamed a smile as he began to walk towards it. At the same time, he circulated his fire energy outward more, causing his aura to exude a gentle attractive energy.
The chicks, who scurried away and stumbled on the ground, perceived the warm aura radiating from him and were immediately attracted.
They hurried towards him, but Felix had already arrived in front of the chick he had laid his eyes into.
Staring up close, the chick was already big and fluffy. Felix scrutinized and understood that the chick was a girl.
He didn’t mind about the gender of the chick since he had taken a liking into it, he’d definitely welcomed her into the family.
Just as he thought so, he felt the warmthness of other chicks clinging into him.
He snorted and said, "I’ve already decided to take her. She was the one who didn’t run away when I appeared."
The chick, for some strange reason, understood what the human was saying. She felt gratified but at the same time, dumbfounded.
She thought. I didn’t run, but I couldn’t.
Indeed, since she was already at the corner of the nest, there was no chance for her to run away from him as soon as he appeared...
