Chapter 119: Chessboard of Fate

The aroma of a home-cooked meal filled Madame Tang’s modest kitchen as she prepared dinner for her two sons. Tang Ziyi and Tang Junjie, sitting in the cozy living room, engaged in a heartwarming conversation.

Tang Junjie, curious, asked, "So, how does it feel living in a grand villa?"

Tang Ziyi smiled, "The place is beautiful, brother. I still think you and Mom should have come along."

Tang Junjie shook his head, "No, we shouldn’t misuse someone’s kindness, brother."

Tang Ziyi sighed, "Well, Brother Chen is always busy since he found his mother. Me and Sister Mei are always at the office, and when we get home, Brother Chen is usually not there. It gets boring."

Tang Junjie nodded, "I’m glad Li Chen found his mother. I’m sure he also wants to spend more time with her."

Tang Ziyi agreed, "Yeah, you’re right. So, brother, now that you can walk very well, what are your plans?"

Tang Junjie shared some recent developments with his brother as they continued their conversation in the cozy living room.

"A few days ago, I met one of the brothers I used to work with at the construction site. They mentioned finding a good lawyer who can take our case to court," Tang Junjie explained.

Tang Ziyi, with a concerned expression, asked, "You’re planning to seek compensation from DreamScape Properties?"

Tang Junjie nodded resolutely, "Yes. Mom and I can use the money for a better house."

Tang Ziyi cautioned, "You know, dealing with rich people can be really dangerous."

Tang Junjie’s eyes reflected determination as he responded, "I was in a wheelchair for a full year, and they never cared about us. They made the incident look like our fault. It’s time we fight for our rights."

Madame Tang, concerned for her sons, joined the conversation after hearing their plans. She pleaded with Ziyi, "Ziyi, please talk to your brother. What they are planning is very dangerous."

Tang Junjie reassured his mother, "Mom, the lawyer is very good. He can get us good settlements."

Madame Tang voiced her worry, "I’m concerned about how that brother you mentioned found this lawyer."

Tang Junjie explained, "The lawyer read about the incident and made contact with him since he was the one who was a supervisor at that time."

Ziyi, also apprehensive, questioned, "But how will you pay him since none of you have jobs, and some have low-paying jobs?"

Tang Junjie responded confidently, "We will be meeting him tomorrow morning, and I will ask all the questions when I see him."

Madame Tang expressed her concerns once again, "I just don’t want you to put your life at risk, son."

Tang Junjie reassured his mother, "Don’t worry, Mom. I will be careful." The decision had been made, and Tang Junjie was determined to navigate the challenges that lay ahead for the sake of justice and a better future for their family.

Madame Tang, with the help of Tang Ziyi, set up the table, and the whole family gathered for a pleasant dinner. Laughter and conversation filled the air as they enjoyed each other’s company. After the meal, they retired to their respective bedrooms.

Tang Ziyi, having opted to spend the night, wanted to catch up with his brother Tang Junjie. The bonds of family and the shared determination to face the challenges ahead strengthened their resolve and unity. As they settled in for the night, the Tang family hoped for a better future, despite the uncertainties that lay on the horizon.

Meanwhile, at Shanghai Airport, two private planes touched down, arriving two hours apart. The first plane carried Jeeves and his master, Zhu Fengrui. Zhu Fengrui, dressed in simple attire, walked to the car Jeeves had arranged.

Despite his eye-catching appearance, women swiftly looked away upon noting his unassuming clothing. Jeeves playfully remarked, "Keeping a low profile like this won’t help you find a wife, young master."

Zhu Fengrui replied, "Well, that means those women are not in it for love but only for material things, and I don’t need a woman like that in my life." Jeeves smiled, saying, "You are indeed wise, like your grandfather." The driver initiated the engine, and the car set off towards Moonlit Mirage Hotel.

On another jet, Li Yanyan and Ding Chengxi departed with solemn expressions. As they reached the waiting area, Ding Chengxi spoke, "Ma’am, I have arranged a car for us. It’s already waiting at the exit." Li Yanyan nodded, "Sure, get the bags. Let’s go."

Li Yanyan took out her phone and called Sun Lixia. After a few rings, Sun Lixia’s voice came through, "Evening, sister-in-law."

"I am here," Li Yanyan replied. Sun Lixia’s calm demeanor echoed, "I will send you the address to my villa."

"Okay," Li Yanyan acknowledged before ending the call. She then followed Ding Chengxi to the exit, the air around her commanding attention. Everyone passing by couldn’t help but steal a glance at the woman who seemed to carry an air of authority and mystery.

As the car smoothly navigated the streets towards Sun Lixia’s villa in Pinnacle Estate, Li Yanyan’s phone rang, shattering the quiet ambiance. The voice on the other end, respectful yet efficient, reported, "Ma’am, the plan is already in motion."

"Good," Li Yanyan replied, her tone cool and collected. "Make sure you make them lose almost everything."

The man on the phone chuckled, "You know me, ma’am. This is child’s play."

"Good. Don’t disappoint me," Li Yanyan commanded, and the call was abruptly terminated. Ding Chengxi stole a glance at Li Yanyan from the rearview mirror. Seated in the back, she exuded an air of quiet confidence. He knew that whoever she had just spoken about was in for a turbulent ride. Ding Chengxi silently wished that people would stop provoking her. Li Yanyan was like a python, coiled and patient. Once provoked, she would strike without mercy, consuming everything in her path.

Li Yanyan closed her eyes, a veil of contemplation descending upon her features. In that moment of reflection, the weight of her decisions bore down on her. The plan she set in motion was a calculated dance with power and consequences. Her mind, a realm of strategic maneuvers, sifted through the possibilities that awaited them.

The rhythmic hum of the car and the muted sounds of the city outside created a backdrop to her thoughts. She pondered the impending chaos she was about to unleash, considering each move like a master chess player predicting the cascading effects on the board.

Ding Chengxi, attuned to his boss’s silent intensity, navigated the vehicle with precision. He sensed the storm Li Yanyan carried within, an unstoppable force ready to reshape the lives of those who dared to cross her path. As the car glided through the city’s labyrinthine roads, Li Yanyan’s mind became a tapestry of calculated risks and strategic gambits, and in the stillness of that moment, the fate of others hung in the balance of her contemplation.
