Chapter 392: Chapter 293: Assistant

When Feng Mountain appeared at the camp’s bridgehead again, his appearance was completely different from before.

He had on a new leather jacket and jeans. The outfit made him look sharp and put-together, with a distinctively handsome air about him.

Jenny had actually asked Tom to bring the outfit back from Fairbanks.

Normally, with Feng Mountain’s personality, he wouldn’t have been so particular about his clothes.

He’d wear the same set of clothes for a week, give them a simple wash at night, dry them by the fire, and then wear them for another week.

This cycle would repeat over and over. Even when his clothes were worn to rags, he probably wouldn’t think to get a new set.

This was especially true after he started living in the Crown Territory. He paid even less attention to his clothes, often just throwing on a beast-hide coat that he could practically wear forever.

In Feng Mountain’s eyes, clothes were just for blocking the wind and rain and keeping warm. He couldn’t care less about how they looked.

Unable to stand it any longer, Jenny had finally stepped in to take charge of Feng Mountain’s daily life.

The moment he changed into the new clothes, Feng Mountain’s rugged look was completely transformed.

Before, in his beast-hide coat, he had the image of a rugged outdoorsman, giving off a wild vibe.

But now, in the jacket and jeans, he exuded a fashionable, suave charm. His whole demeanor was different, and his every move had the air of a handsome gentleman.

Nash had also changed into regular clothes, but being used to beast hides, he rarely wore something so relatively formal.

He felt completely uncomfortable, constantly fidgeting with his clothes. One moment he was tugging at the hem of his shirt, the next he was pulling at his collar.

Just then, a few female employees passing by noticed Feng Mountain’s transformation. They were instantly captivated, stopping in their tracks to shower him with comments.

"Wow, Boss, you’re so charming."

"I never knew the boss was so handsome under that big coat."

"Boss, you’re more dashing than Leonardo! So captivating."

"Boss, can you give me a night of romance? I won’t make you take any responsibility."

The barrage of compliments made Feng Mountain a little embarrassed, and he scratched his head awkwardly.

Jenny, Erica, and the other leading ladies of the camp were walking over together when they saw Feng Mountain surrounded by the female employees.

Like mother hens protecting their chick, they immediately rushed forward to block the other women’s fiery, blatant stares.

Erica, who had a fiery personality to begin with, got worked up at once. With her hands on her hips and her chest heaving, she shouted at the female employees.

"That’s enough! Are you all a bunch of lovesick fools? What is wrong with you?"

But the women knew Erica didn’t mean any real harm, so they didn’t take her seriously. Instead, they decided to deliberately provoke her.

"Erica, the boss belongs to all of us. You can’t hog him for yourself. We have to share."

"Exactly! The boss isn’t married, so why can’t we ask him out? I want to sleep with the boss."

"Yeah, me too! Let’s all compete fairly. Whoever wins him over gets to keep him."

Hearing this, Erica completely lost it. Her face flushed beet red, and she trembled with rage as she pointed a finger at the woman who was teasing her.

"Bitch! Who said anything about sharing with you? Don’t you know, I’ve already—"

But before she could finish, Demi, her face pale with panic, clapped a hand over Erica’s mouth and dragged her to the back of the group.

Feng Mountain, however, thought he heard a hidden meaning in her words.

He couldn’t help but recall what happened a few days ago. ’I was deliberately gotten drunk, and then...’

’Aha! I’ve finally found the culprit.’

Just as he was about to press for more details, Yves walked over, also in a fresh set of clothes.

Seeing the situation, Jenny quickly cut in, "Feng, you all should get going. It’s a long trip to Texas. The sooner you leave, the sooner you’ll be back."

A suspicious look crossed Feng Mountain’s face. He looked at Jenny, his eyes full of doubt.

’Normally, Jenny doesn’t act like this when I’m about to leave on a long trip.’

’She’s usually so meticulous and thorough, nagging me to be careful and double-checking that I haven’t forgotten anything.’

’But today, she’s in such a hurry to get rid of me. It’s too strange.’

’Could it be...’

"Boss, I’m ready," Yves said, carrying a bulging backpack.

The interruption made it impossible for Feng Mountain to dwell on his questions, so he had to temporarily drop his plan to find the culprit.

Feng Mountain lifted his jacket to reveal the holster at his waist. He frowned and asked with some concern.

"Are the gun laws in Texas strict? Will I have a problem bringing this?"

Yves laughed, lifted the hem of his own shirt to reveal a similar holster, and said with a smile.

"Don’t worry. Texas has some of the most lenient gun laws. They allow residents with a license to carry to openly carry handguns, so bringing one won’t be an issue."

"That’s good. Let’s go!" Hearing this from Yves, Feng Mountain finally relaxed, feeling much more at ease.

Ever since coming to Alaska, he’d gotten used to carrying a gun. If he couldn’t bring one, he’d feel like something was missing.

Just then, Director Roland appeared, also carrying a backpack.

"Director, are you... planning to leave the Crown Territory?" Feng Mountain asked, completely bewildered.

Director Roland, on the other hand, looked perfectly at ease. A smile played on his lips. "I thought I’d tag along. It seems like an interesting experience, and it will be very meaningful for my screenwriting."

’You’re really shameless!’

’You’ve used the "screenwriting" excuse several times already.’

’You say that every time, but I’ve yet to see you write a single script.’

Feng Mountain was speechless.

If Frank hadn’t specifically asked him to look after the director before he left, Feng Mountain would have kicked him out long ago for his behavior—mooching for food, drinks, and entertainment in the Crown Territory.
