Chapter 44: Chapter 44 - Bloody Pool
"With your strength, I am sure someone good will hire you." Vincent retorted.
"I know. And I have done in the past." Daniel said, looking down at his sword. The blade was hot, due to the immense movement he made from the swings.
"But, the pay is quite low. I needed more money."
"Greed?" Vincent asked.
Daniel scoffed and then sighed a heavy breath. "Yeah. I can’t contain the greed that I carried in my mortal heart. That is why my sword is slow."
Vincent rolled his eyes. ’You call this sword?’
"So, you won’t allow me to capture Eric? You can leave this place and start a new life."
"I won’t allow that. And I won’t start a new life. This is the life I chose and I have to take the burden."
Vincent sighed and nodded.
"I don’t hate you, Daniel. I believe in the good things that people can do."
"I know. You are kind, Vincent. Every shot you fired, you always aimed at the place where you won’t kill me. But I can’t do it like you." Daniel said.
Vincent transformed his hands into the werewolf and controlled the impulse raging from him.
He then dashed forward, kicking off the dust beneath him.
Daniel took out his sword and thrust the sword forward.
Instinct overwhelmed Vincent’s body and warned him to dodge to the side. So he did, the sword gazed at his shoulder, splitting out the flesh in half.
Vincent swallowed the pain and pushed his legs. He collided his head to Daniel’s chest.
"Argh.." Daniel groaned in pain and pulled back his sword, and brought it downward.
The hot blade pierced through the back of Vincent, narrowly avoiding the spine. Vincent clenched his stomach and used the two free hands to grab the legs.
With his body weight, the two stumbled around, rolling on the dance floor. Despite the sword on his stomach, Vincent skillfully used his grabbing skill to choke Daniel’s throat using his legs.
The difference in physical stats was vast. Vincent clearly overpowered Daniel.
But Daniel moved, struggled and bit down the legs. A chunk of flesh was removed from Vincent’s leg.
"Ahh..!" Vincent screamed out in pain but he won’t let go.
The healing factor brought out the transformation that was working well. Normally, it would consume the user’s stamina but Vincent was full of it.
The cut on his shoulder was melding together quickly.
Blood slowly made a pool underneath the two men. They mostly came from Vincent. As the two men struggled to take control of their lives in the pool of the blood, the climax was near.
Daniel grabbed the knife from Vincent’s legs and chuckled with madness. He then drove the knife deep into the thigh and twisted it with force.
Unable to ignore the pain, Vincent let go of the chokehold and rolled around with the sword stuck on his chest.
They both separated and recovered from the injuries. Vincent pulled out the katana from his back and threw it away from it. With his immense strength, he launched the sword away from the dance floor all the way to the outside.
So, if Daniel chose to grab the katana, Vincent would just shoot him in the back.
Vincent checked the bleeding stomach and shrugged off the wound for now.
The healing factor was working nicely as intended.
Daniel grabbed his throat and coughed out. "How strong are you, man?"
"Not strong enough." Vincent answered back. Daniel had his knife. But he didn’t know the capability of Daniel with the small knife.
’Should I head back and shoot him with the gun?’ Vincent thought, his hand moving toward his waist band and reached at the empty pocket.
’Fuck. Where is the gun?’
Vincent searched and found it laying in front of him. The distance was about one step away from him but as soon as he moved, Daniel would follow and cut him.
’Don’t think.’ Vincent but his lips and moved his body.
He decided to trust the instinct in his body that was telling him that the victory would be achieved without the gun.
Daniel sensed the movement in the darkness and also came forward with the knife in his hand. He pushed the knife forward, trying to stab Vincent.
And it stabbed through the flesh. More specifically to Vincent’s hand.
He tried to pull out the knife but Vincent grabbed the knife with his injured hand, not wanting to let go.
The wrestling resumed once again. Daniel trying to take back the knife and Vincent trying to use his superior physical strength to pin down.
Neither of them were yielding away from the battle.
In the climax of the face off, a loud gun shot came forward.
Vincent closed his eyes and opened it. Blood squirted on his face as the pieces of brain matter decorating his face.
He felt the taste of iron in his mouth and the foul smell of brain juice assaulted his nose. Daniel’s head was blasted into pieces.
Vincent rolled to the side and crouched, throwing up the dinner he ate.
The man just died. Right in front of his face.
The man was just breathing, speaking. Full of life. Sure, he was the villain, trying to protect the scumbag of the earth but still.
Panic rushed into his head as he couldn’t warp around the fact that the man was dead.
A footsteps sounded toward his side. Slow and steady.
Vincent didn’t have to look up to see who the footsteps belonged to. It was Jason.
A hand grabbed his shoulder and Vincent flinched in pain.
"The wound on this side."
Jason let go immediately and looked down at the blood on his hand. "Sorry, rookie. But good job, holding your ground. Where is Eric?"
Vincent pointed toward the door of the room which Eric was staying in.
"Stay here and rest for now. You lost too much blood. The ambulance is coming as we speak. I will take care of the rest."
"Sure." Vincent forced a smile but his heart was heavy with death.
He saw Jason walk toward Eric and kick the door open.
Then, he heard some shouting. Mostly coming from Eric.
Vincent turned around and looked at the scene.
Jason grabbed Eric’s head and dragged him out to the front.
He kicked the fat man and punched to the chest.
"Bastard, I will kill you. I will fucking kill your family."
"Sure, go ahead." Jason muttered and kicked down the head.
Then, he took out the gun and aimed at Eric’s head in a cold hearted manner.
"I will give you mo.."
The brain exploded into pieces once again.
Jason smiled and touched the glasses.
"The mission is finished." Jason said.
"I am done as well. We need to bring a heavy car to grab Rhino."
"Sure."
"Any wounded?" Werewolf asked.
"Vincent." Jason said. "I think he is mostly shocked by the death."
"Can’t blame him, I am also in the same situation when I started becoming hero."
