Chapter 514: Chapter 279: Earning Respect (Part 3)

"Fire all your bullets! Don’t worry about hitting it or not; I need you to fire so it can’t escape in any direction!"

The order left everyone stunned. This was completely against the usual hunting practice. This... this was a military tactic!

"Are you crazy?" Buck was the first to object on the radio. "That’s our ammo! Shooting at empty ground? Do you want us to run out of bullets and then get torn apart by the wolf pack?"

"Buck has a point, Lin," another veteran hunter agreed, "We need to save bullets for when they count."

Lin Yu’an’s voice turned ice-cold and serious, "Listen! That wolf’s cunning is beyond your imagination!"

"It’s using those two wolves for diversion, disrupting our rhythm, trying to make us move faster or spread out, and now who knows how many wolves are holding the high ground."

"The wolf pack is extremely cunning, waiting for us to enter their trap. We must catch them off-guard with our strongest firepower!"

"I saw it with my own eyes, there’s definitely a wolf in that bush, maybe even the leader! Taking the initiative is our absolute advantage!"

His words struck everyone’s hearts like a heavy hammer. They all instinctively looked at Stan, waiting for his decision.

Stan looked at Lin Yu’an’s determined profile, then glanced at the lurking dangers around. He clenched his teeth, "Everyone, follow Lin’s lead! Trust him this time! Get ready, everyone!"

Though Buck’s face was filled with reluctance, he still raised his gun, aiming at the empty hillside.

"Ready..." Lin Yu’an took a deep breath, locking his crosshairs on the barely noticeable shadow gap in the pile of fallen logs.

"Three."

"Two."

"One."

"Bang!"

A .300 Winchester Magnum bullet, carrying unmatched energy, tore through the air, traversing two hundred meters, and precisely buried itself in that shadow gap!

"Now! Open fire!" Stan shouted fiercely.

"Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!"

A dozen hunting rifles roared deafeningly at the same time! Countless bullets, like a torrential downpour, covered that small hill completely!

Wood chips, snow, and earth were flung into the air by the powerful firepower, dancing wildly!

Amid the bullet storm, a heart-wrenching howl of pain and unwillingness echoed from behind the pile of fallen logs!

"Got it! There was something there!" Jack exclaimed in delight.

Soon after, a gigantic wolf that was incredibly large burst out from its hiding place!

Its left foreleg had been broken by Lin Yu’an’s first shot, and it had been hit by several stray bullets, staining the snow with blood!

Yet it still dragged its crippled body, trying to flee into the depths of the forest.

But it was too late.

Lin Yu’an calmly worked the bolt, ejecting the scorching shell, and chambered a second bullet.

He quietly watched the once king of the wild struggle amidst the bullet shower, his gaze showing no pity.

"Bang!"

The second gunshot.

The massive alpha wolf’s body suddenly stiffened mid-run, as if frozen by a spell. A perfect circular blood hole appeared on its skull.

The enormous body crashed down, staining the pure white snow bright red.

With the alpha wolf dead, the howls of approaching wolves in the forest turned into cries of fear and confusion, then faded away.

The battle was over.

The forest once again returned to silence, except for the heavy scent of gunpowder smoke and the hunters’ heavy breathing.

Everyone looked at the man who remained standing quietly with mixed admiration and fear, slowly lowering his hunting rifle.

Bill’s team arrived late, and seeing the alpha wolf’s corpse and the chaotic battlefield, they were dumbfounded.

Buck slowly rose from behind cover, walked over to Lin Yu’an with an expression of complex emotions.

He stood beside Lin Yu’an, looking at his calm and undisturbed face.

After a long silence, he took out a flat metal flask from his pocket, unscrewed the cap, and handed it over.

"Have a sip." His voice was hoarse.

Lin Yu’an did not refuse, taking the flask and tilting his head for a large gulp. The spicy whiskey went down his throat like fire.

He returned the flask to Buck.

Buck took a sip too, before squeezing out a sentence from between his teeth, "Lin... what did you used to do?"

Lin Yu’an just smiled upon hearing this, not answering.

He turned around, looking towards Wiseman Town, knowing that this wilderness hunt was over.

And the relationship between him and these rebellious hunters was completely reshaped in the midst of this battle.
