Chapter 982: Chapter 54 Demon Summoning_3

The central Black Robed Magician sneered and lifted his withered right hand, beckoning emptily and mumbling a few spells. A bizarre event took place—the assassin who had killed himself on the ground suddenly stood up, his face still bearing the expression of the moment he died. With arms outstretched, he lunged at Ah Dai.

Ah Dai was taken aback and burst out amidst the enormous pressure, yelling, "Tian Luo’s Net!" The Yellow Energy Sword in his hand and the solid battle aura that had resisted the soul-corroding dark fog were abruptly retracted. His hands rapidly traced lines of yellow light in the air, creating strands of solid-state energy that floated out with the life-affirming technique, weaving a large net in the sky that he cast over the assassin and the black fog. The sight of such bizarre skill prompted a swift retreat from the group of assassins, and one slower to retreat was enveloped by the light net—his body instantly disintegrated into countless tiny pieces of flesh, disappearing before he could even make a sound. The assassin resurrected into a zombie by the Black Robed Magician met the same fate, utterly torn to shreds. The black fog that had just matched Ah Dai’s life-affirming battle aura melted away like snow before fire when it touched the solid energy of Tian Luo’s Net. The Sword Saint of the Tian Gang was right—the solid battle aura formed by the life-affirming transformation was indeed the nemesis of any magic. Ah Dai didn’t have time to feel disgusted; the light net continued at undiminished speed, heading straight for the five magicians at the door.

This move, Tian Luo’s Net, was one of the three life-saving techniques the Sword Saint of the Tian Gang taught Ah Dai. With Ah Dai’s current level of skill, he could only unleash thirty percent of its power; otherwise, not a single assassin would have escaped.

The leading Black Robed Magician let out an astonished cry, pulled out a black bead from his bosom, made a strange hand gesture, and shouted, "Seal!" The black bead emitted a sinister red glow, shattered with a crisp sound, and a wisp of dark red fog drifted out, wailing eerily as it collided with the nearby light net. Amid sizzling sounds, the light net’s glow gradually dimmed, and the red fog also vanished. Ah Dai felt a violent shake in the energy he had released. His whole body warmed, and he suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood, alarming him into quickly withdrawing the remaining energy of Tian Luo’s Net. This all-out effort had consumed nearly half of his strength.

The Black Robed Magician seemed to have become enraged, muttered something under his breath, and his four companions continuously unleashed large swarms of black energy bullets at Ah Dai and the other mages, keeping them occupied. The assassins did not rush over again but silently stood behind the five Black Robed Magicians. The leading Black Robed Magician sliced the air in front of him, creating a black rift in space from which he withdrew a magic wand. This wand appeared very strange—it could even be described as terrifying. Entirely ghastly white, its shaft was made from a long bone, and atop the wand was a skull head of a human, its eye sockets flickering with an eerie green light. Unknown to Ah Dai, this wand was quite renowned in the Dark Forces, known as the Netherworld Staff.

Handling the barrage of black magical energy bullets was extremely difficult for the group. Although most of these mages were of high rank, their innate magical attributes were inferior to Dark Magic, so neutralizing each Dark Magic Bullet cost them considerable magical power. Only Ah Dai, with his life-affirming transformation, found fending them off somewhat easier. The magic level of those four Black Robed Magicians seemed very profound, and there was no indication of the magic energy bullets ceasing amidst their low incantations.

Having used Tian Luo’s Net, Ah Dai’s internal energy was rapidly depleted, and the glow of his silver body within his Dantian had dulled. He conjured small yellow energy shields in each hand to ward off the Black Energy Bullet attacks. To protect the mages behind him, he bore over seventy percent of the onslaught, leaving him no opportunity to stop the lead Black Robed Magician.

Just then, two angry roars came from outside the door. Seven or eight assassins met the call, as Yan Shi and Yan Li had noticed what was happening and rushed over. Although their strength was not weak, they could not break through the numerous assassins straight away and kept fighting through the crowd of assassins with their weapons, each imbued with immense battle aura. The assassins could not take them down in a short time, leading to a stalemate.

The lead Black Robed Magician, as if oblivious to what was happening, slowly raised the Netherworld Wand in his hand and chanted in a deep voice, "Spirits slumbering in the darkness! I summon you in the name of the demon Distar—congregate your immense resentment, descend into this world under my direction, and devour the life before you." With the completion of the spell, a three-meter-diameter black magic hexagram appeared on the ground before him. The Mage Guild was suddenly filled with chilling, mournful howls constantly emanating from the black hexagram. As the hexagram burst into light, a black skeleton climbed out, wielding a bone knife, step by step advancing toward Ah Dai and the others. The black hexagram showed no sign of stopping, as vile Dark Zombies and gigantic Undead Warriors, one after another, climbed out.
