Chapter 868: Chapter 31: Elves’ Catastrophe_2
The male elf furrowed his brows, appearing somewhat hesitant. After a long pause, he said, "If you prove to the queen that you truly are friends of our Elf Clan, I, Ya Yuan of the Elf Clan, will certainly apologize to you formally. Ruo Ma, proceed." As he called out, the female mage from the back of the elf troop flew out, continually chanting spells in the elf language. A green glow flickered around her, and the spell-chanting lasted for a good while, as long as the time it takes to drink a cup of tea. When the green glow completely enveloped her, she waved her magic wand, and a green light struck a big tree nearby. The tree, under the magic’s influence, began to grow wildly, and several vines emerged from the ground and crawled towards Ah Dai and the others.
Xuan Yue watched the vines as thick as a finger in surprise and exclaimed, "Wow, is this the Magic of Nature of the Elf Clan? It’s truly marvelous!"
The vines quickly reached the group, climbing up from their feet and soon wrapped around everyone’s upper bodies. Ah Dai tried to free himself slightly and felt the vines were very tough; even using his full strength might not be enough to break free. Ruo Ma, the female elf, after completely entangling the group’s upper bodies with the vines, stopped chanting her spell and nodded tiredly at Ya Yuan.
Ya Yuan said, "Alright, now we can go. Follow us." With that, he led the elves and slowly flew into the forest.
Being bound by the upper body naturally was uncomfortable, and Yan Li complained, "It’s been a long time since we visited the Elf Clan, and I didn’t expect to be wrapped up like a zongzi as soon as we arrived."
Yan Shi gave him a glare and said, "You better say less. Once we get to the Elf Queen, she will give us justice." After saying that, he walked forward.
Xuan Yue didn’t mind being bound by the vines because she knew that if something happened, her Phoenix’s Blood would surely resolve these vines.
The path in the Elf Forest was extremely rugged, almost with no flat ground, and everyone followed the elves into the deeper parts of the forest, moving one step deep and one shallow. Tall trees covered most of the sunlight, bringing bursts of coolness into their bodies, breathing in the fresh air gave everyone a refreshing feeling of exhilaration.
Yan Li, somewhat intoxicated, said, "The air here is really nice, even better than in our Pu Yan tribe. Yan Shi, brother, wasn’t our last visit over a decade ago?"
In this paradise filled with the fragrance of flowers and chirping of birds, Yan Shi’s spirits seemed to brighten a bit. He nodded slightly and said, "Yes! Elf Forest is definitely one of the most beautiful places on the continent. If Yun Er were still alive, how wonderful that would be. She would have been delighted to see all this." Remembering his tragically deceased wife, Yan Shi’s heart ached, and he fell silent.
Out of everyone, Xuan Yue was the only one who knew no martial arts. After walking for a while, her legs were terribly sore. Since she couldn’t use her hands to maintain balance and the road was uneven, she inadvertently tripped and fell. Ah Dai jumped down, quickly crouching beside her, but his hands were tied, and he couldn’t help her up.
Xuan Yue, who had never suffered such hardships, immediately burst into tears. Hearing her crying, everyone stopped, and Yue Ji approached Xuan Yue, saying, "Yue Yue, how are you?"
Xuan Yue sobbed, "They of the Elf Clan are too bullying. I’m just a girl and I don’t know martial arts. How am I supposed to walk? I won’t walk anymore, woo woo."
Ya Yuan flew over, reached out to help Xuan Yue, but she scolded, "Don’t touch me. Annoying." Ya Yuan paused; it was then he clearly saw that among the group of outsiders was such an angelic-looking young lady. Speaking of looks, even within the Elf Clan, Xuan Yue’s beauty was definitely top-notch. Ya Yuan said, "You look like you must be a human magician. Well, I see you really have no ill intent, so let’s release your binds, how about that?"
Xuan Yue’s crying eased as she said with tear-stained cheeks, "That’s more like it. Hurry and release me."
Ya Yuan called over Ruo Ma, and the vines around Xuan Yue were removed. Xuan Yue sat up and moved her body around. Her little hand had scraped during the fall, causing sharp pain that made her tears flow again. She softly chanted Light Healing Magic, and under the glow of a white light, her small wound healed instantly.
Ruo Ma floated down next to Xuan Yue and said, "Little sister, constantly using magic to heal wounds is not good, you know. It can decrease your body’s immune system, and such a small injury would best be left to heal on its own."
Xuan Yue pouted her lips and said, "But, but it hurts so much! You don’t look much older than me, don’t call me little sister, please. There’s nothing I hate more than people saying I’m little."
Ruo Ma giggled, "Not older than you? You’re mistaken then. We of the Elf Clan typically live up to four or five hundred years. I am almost a hundred years old this year. Although I’m not considered old in our clan, I am much older than you, aren’t I?"
Xuan Yue gasped and pointed at Ruo Ma, exclaiming, "You’re almost a hundred years old?"
Ruo Ma nodded happily, "Yes! Just two years shy of a hundred. Once I reach a hundred, I will be considered a great elf."
Xuan Yue, momentarily forgetting the pain from her fall, grabbed Ruo Ma’s arm affectionately and said, "Sister, sister, please teach me how to still look as beautiful as you when I’m a hundred." Elves are a kin that loves perfection, and hearing Xuan Yue’s genuine question made Ruo Ma laugh, "Little sister, it’s a matter of bloodline; there’s no special trick to it!"
