Chapter 799: Chapter 2 16: Wilful Girl_5
Xuan Yue ran excitedly towards Ah Dai, asking, "What are you going to perform for me?"
Ah Dai gave her a glance, saying, "I’ll try to chop the wall, you should stand back, so you’re not hurt by the rebounding force."
An odd light flashed in Xuan Yue’s eyes as she said, "You care about other people too?" As she spoke, she stepped backwards.
In reality, Ah Dai wasn’t worried about her; he was worried about himself. He was afraid that if Xuan Yue got hurt again, she would blackmail him into being her follower for a few more years; a fate he dreaded.
Ah Dai held the Tian Gang Sword high above his head, the True Qi within his body activated naturally. A faint white light emitted a Sacred Aura. The light on Tian Gang Sword, matching his height, flickered as he took a sudden step forward and yelled. In a Splitting Chop style, he suddenly struck the wall.
"Don’t --" a shocked cry rang out, but it was too late for Ah Dai to stop. Suddenly, a giant hole, three meters in diameter, appeared on the broad wall of the inner hall.
Ah Dai and Kigg, who had just walked in with the Magic Card, were stunned. Ah Dai was surprised, whereas Kigg was upset; he had put a lot of effort into the Barrier on that wall, and now it was destroyed. How could he not be heartbroken?
"Wow, that’s amazing! I didn’t expect you to be so capable. From now on, you will be my follower and bodyguard.", exclaimed Xuan Yue as she grabbed Ah Dai’s hand and jumped around happily, completely ignoring the two men’s gloomy faces.
Ah Dai ignored Xuan Yue, turned to Kigg, and bowed respectfully, saying, "I’m really sorry, Great Magician Kigg. I didn’t know the Barrier was so fragile. I, I’m willing to compensate you."
Only then did Xuan Yue notice Kigg’s arrival. Annoyed, she said, "What compensation? It was me who asked him to perform his swordsmanship. If you want compensation, go to the church and look for my father. Just say that Xuan Yue messed up, and he will definitely compensate you."
Despairingly, Kigg said, "Forget it, forget it. Out with the old, in with the new. Here are your Magic Cards, take them and get out of here." If they didn’t leave, the entire Guild might fall into ruins at their hands.
Xuan Yue giggled, took the cards from Kigg, handed the red one to Ah Dai, and put the white one into her own pocket. Pulling Ah Dai’s arm, she said, "Let’s go have some fun."
Ah Dai wanted to say something to Kigg, but seeing the unpleasant look on Xuan Yue’s face, he had no choice but to follow her out of the Mage Guild.
Behind them, Kigg muttered, "Why am I so unlucky, sigh! My poor wall! Old Huang, go find all the magicians in the city, I need to fix the wall."
As Ah Dai and Yue Yue left the Mage Guild, she burst out in joy, "Ah! I’m a magician now." Her loud voice attracted the attention of passers-by. They saw the magic robes on Ah Dai and Xuan Yue and their eyes filled with envy and respect. On the continent, the scarcity of magicians underscored their value.
Xuan Yue moved closer to Ah Dai and gave his head a little tap with her delicate Magic Wand, "Dai Dai, my follower, where should we go to have fun?"
Ah Dai was clueless about the continent and asked, "Fun? You want me to follow you for fun?"
Xuan Yue naturally replied, "Of course! It’s not easy to get out for once, and of course, we want to have a good time. Eh, there seems to be a lot of people in there. What are they doing? They all carry weapons like you." She pointed to the Mercenary Guild nearby and asked curiously.
"That’s the Mercenary Guild. It’s where many mercenaries take on tasks.", Ah Dai explained.
Xuan Yue’s eyes lit up, "Then let’s go check it out. There must be something fun."
As she spoke, she grabbed Ah Dai’s hand, and rushed towards the Mercenary Guild.
Xuan Yue’s soft hand felt strange in the rough palm of Ah Dai, a peculiar sensation spreading over his body. But Xuan Yue’s words gave Ah Dai a jolt; he didn’t care about the feel of her soft hand and quickly stopped, saying, "No, no, let’s not go." He had just left the Mercenary Guild not long ago and didn’t want to get caught up with the people there. And if Feng Ping saw him going there with a young girl, who knew what his reaction would be.
Xuan Yue just was an innocent young girl; when Ah Dai stopped, her body jerked forward and she bumped into Ah Dai. "Ouch" she cried out in pain.
"What are you doing? You hurt me so much!"
Ah Dai quickly apologized, "Yue Yue, let’s not go there. I, I have something else to do."
Xuan Yue huffed, "You have things to do? I have things to do too! Don’t forget, you’re my follower now. You have to listen to me. If I say go east, you must go east. Let’s go, I want to go to the Mercenary Guild. I have heard Red Charming Clan is a gathering place for mercenaries, this is a good chance to see. I love adventures the most."
Ah Dai made a bitter face, "Yue Yue, you go first. I have something to deal with, I’ll find you later."
Xuan Yue’s big eyes blinked at Ah Dai, and she asked doubtfully, "Are you trying to run away? Remember, you already promised me to be my follower for a year. If you run away, don’t blame me for not being nice." She threatened by waving her Magic Wand.
Ah Dai had witnessed Xuan Yue’s magic before, and he quickly explained, "No, I won’t run away. I owe the steamed bun shop owner some money. I need to pay him first."
Xuan Yue agreed, "Okay then, I’ll go with you. After you have paid the money, we’ll go to the Mercenary Guild." She had finally found such an innocent follower, and she wouldn’t let Ah Dai run away.
Ah Dai wanted to say something else, but seeing Xuan Yue’s Magic Wand start to glow, he had no choice but to comply. Their appearances stood out on the streets; after all, in this not so big city, magicians were rare.
After a while, Ah Dai led Xuan Yue to the steamed bun shop. As it was nearing noon, the shop was booming with business. The plump owner was busy, the steaming hot buns wafting with a savory aroma filled the air.
Xuan Yue sniffed the air and said to Ah Dai, "The buns smell so good! I want to try one too. Ah Dai, buy one for me."
"Oh." Ah Dai stepped forward and joined the queue to buy the buns. He could wait but Xuan Yue couldn’t. She walked over, took a bun, and bit into it. After chewing it for a while, she frowned and said, "It’s quite ordinary, nothing special." With a flick of her hand, she threw the rest of the bun on the ground under the bewildered gaze of the owner.
Ah Dai saw everything and was filled with discomfort. He walked up to Xuan Yue swiftly.
