Chapter 796: 2 16 Wild Girl_2
All the magic power within Ah Dai had been exhausted during the earlier test, and before he had time to react, the Holy Light descended, totally enveloping him. An immense force pushed Ah Dai back towards the wall, saturating the area with a sudden burst of Sacred Aura, turning everything he was holding to ash. Intense pain shot through his body, but just as the situation had become extremely perilous, a faint blue light emanated from the Sword of Hades at his chest. It shielded his body, and its powerful Evil Aura barred the Holy Light from coming closer. Suddenly, the white jade ring on Ah Dai’s left index finger lit up, its luminescence flashing, and it began to wildly absorb the Holy Light. Ah Dai felt lighter and the Sword of Hades’ aura retracted back within the blade.
The young girl cried out in surprise. She was horrified to find that the dopey looking boy’s ring was wildly siphoning off her Magic Power. In an instant, all her already scarce Magic Power and the Holy Light she had summoned disappeared. Feeling weakened, she collapsed onto the ground, and her big round eyes stared blankly at Ah Dai.
The White Jade Ring returned to its normal state, and Ah Dai, not understanding what had happened, stood there dumbfounded.
Kigg also stood there, stunned. Intrigued, he studied Ah Dai a few times before using the last remnants of his Magic Power to apply a Water Spirit Energy Technique to the young girl.
With the help of the magic, her face gained a trace of color and she felt somewhat revitalized. She managed to stand up and, glaring at Ah Dai, walked up to him. Pointing her finger at his nose, she said, "I was taking the Mage examination. Why did you intervene? You will compensate for my Magic Power."
Although Ah Dai wasn’t injured, the initial impact had caused a dull ache in his back. He saw the young girl collapse, and he couldn’t understand why his ring absorbed her Magic Power. He felt apologetic and hurriedly said, "Sorry, miss, I, I didn’t mean to. How can I compensate you?"
The girl’s big eyes swiveled towards him, "Your ring absorbed my Magic Power, so you should give it to me as compensation."
Hearing that the girl wanted his ring, Ah Dai quickly hid his left hand behind his back. He couldn’t bear to give away the ring, which was a gift from the strange fish, and he stammered out, "No! This ring is very important to me. I can’t give it to you. Ask for something else."
The young girl stubbornly retorted, "No, I want that ring." She had been spoiled since childhood, loved and revered by everyone. No matter who they were, they showed her nothing but utmost respect. There was nothing she desired that she couldn’t obtain.
Kigg drew near them, trying to make peace, "Miss, I think you should let it go. If not for this young man’s ring absorbing the Holy Light, I am afraid he would be..."
The girl glared at him, "How dare you speak! You are to blame, who asked you to deflect my Holy Light? I am not even done settling scores with you, and you are pretending to be the good guy."
Internally, Kigg thought, "If I hadn’t deflected your Holy Light, we might have ended up completely sanctified by now." He didn’t dare to provoke this mysterious young girl and, feeling embarrassed, withdrew his comment. Thinking, "This simple-minded boy is in trouble," he decided to stay out of it, putting his safety first.
Looking at Kigg and then at the young girl, Ah Dai offered, "I truly can’t give you the ring, but... but I can give you some money." Agreeing to give money was Ah Dai’s limit. For him, a single gold coin was worth two hundred steamed buns! As he spoke, Ah Dai took out the pouch of money that Feng Ping had given him.
The girl huffed, "Who wants your stinking money? Fine, you don’t have to give me your ring, but you do need to fulfill one condition for me." She eyed the naïve boy in front of her, thinking, "If I don’t take advantage of him today, then my title as the Little Witch of the Church would be for naught."
Ah Dai breathed a sigh of relief. As long as she didn’t want his ring, he didn’t care about anything else. He hurriedly asked, "What condition do you want?"
Her large eyes twinkled with a cunning light; she looked at him and said, "I, Miss, am exploring the continent and am in need of an attendant. You seem capable enough. You have to serve me as an attendant for a year, then I will forgive you. This condition is rather generous, and following me is a blessing for you."
Without hesitation, Ah Dai declared, "No, I cannot agree to this condition." He had to return to Teacher Goris promptly, so how could he delay by staying with the young girl?
The young girl stared at Ah Dai for a long moment before her beautiful eyes reddened. Sniffing a few times, tears began to flow down her face. "You... you bully! You bully a girl, you are shameless... sob, sob..."
Seeing the girl crying bitterly, Ah Dai was startled and soon flustered. In his memory, only the departure of Teacher Goris and Uncle Owen’s death made him cry out in pain. Could it be, could it be that his absorption of the girl’s Magic Power truly upset her this much? "Ah! Miss, please stop crying. It’s my fault, all my fault, please stop crying first."
Ah Dai’s attempts to console her only made the girl cry harder. She was maybe just exhausted from crying but she conveniently sat on the ground, crying vigorously. Ah Dai, looking helplessly towards Kigg, was met with an "I can’t help here" gesture from Kigg, showing he had no way to handle this situation. This was not a problem that an esteemed Mage of the Guild could solve. If others saw a young girl crying like this in the Mage Guild itself, they would certainly question his professionalism. He wished she would leave as soon as possible, but he was helpless.
