Chapter 788: 2 14 Hades has left_3
Ah Dai crouched on the ground, sobbing uncontrollably. As he cried, he filled a small porcelain container with the scant amount of blue ash on the ground using a little shovel. After sealing the container, Ah Dai carefully placed it in his pack, resolutely turned around, shouldered two bundles, and ran out the door. The three desiccated bodies still lay where they had fallen. Ah Dai took one last deep look at the home where he had lived for five years, gritted his teeth, then cast another Flame Spell. A plethora of blue flames were set upon the roof under Ah Dai’s command. In an instant, the courtyard had turned into a sea of fire. Prodding the three bodies with his toes, Ah Dai launched them into the inferno. Filled with intense hatred and sorrow, he ran towards the distance.
At home, Xi Er was sulking. Ah Dai’s blatant refusal had left him, the mayor, feeling humiliated. After all, his Si Fei was more than enough for that idiot! He had never heard of Ah Dai having a fiancée before. He had no idea what Owen was thinking, not settling such a good match. Now, Si Fei was still crying nonstop in her room, adding to his annoyance.
Thud, thud, thud, the aggressive sound of knocking interrupted his thoughts. Irritated, Xi Er yelled, "Who is it? Knocking so urgently on death’s door!"
"Dad, it’s me. Hurry, open the door, something terrible has happened!" It was the voice of Xi Zhong.
Xi Er was startled and quickly opened the front door. Xi Zhong, breathless and with an anxious look on his face, urged, "Dad, you need to go and take a look. Something terrible has happened."
Xi Er, frowning, retorted, "Why are you making such a fuss? What disaster could have possibly occurred in our small town?"
Xi Zhong hastily replied, "It’s Uncle Owen. For some reason, his house has suddenly caught a huge fire. Me and the second and third brothers saw it on our way back from fishing, they have already gone to call for townsfolk to help put out the fire."
Xi Er gasped in surprise and exclaimed, "What did you say, Owen’s house has caught fire? Quickly, we should go and take a look."
By the time they arrived at Owen’s house, the fire had reached its final stages. In this seaside town, the sea breeze never ceased and coupled with Ah Dai’s highly skillful Flame Spell, the house was already reduced to charred ruins and billowing smoke climbed to the sky.
Xi Er stared blankly at the scene in front of him, pulled his second son Si Fa who was firefighting over, and asked, "Where are the people? Where are your Uncle Owen and Ah Dai? Have they come out?"
Somberly, Si Fa shook his head and replied, "We haven’t seen them. Dad, with the fire this intense, if they were inside...I’m afraid they didn’t stand much of a chance."
As Xi Er and his family mourned for Owen and Ah Dai, several pairs of cold eyes observed them from amongst the crowd.
"Vice President, we have already gone in and had a look. Except for a few of our dead brothers turned into charred bones, we did not find any bodies of the ’Nether King’ or that child you mentioned."
The tea-kettled tone was filled with hatred, "It frustrates me to death. Who would have thought that the ’Nether King’ would have such a strong life energy, even after being poisoned by the unique holy water he could still perform the Hades Sword Technique. If we knew, we would have brought you all here in the first place. The ’Nether King’ could be dead, but the child who was with him must still be alive. Hurry, go and search for him, even if it’s a corpse, bring it back to me. The Hades Sword cannot fall into anyone else’s hands."
"Yes, Vice President." A number of figures slowly disappeared into the crowd as the fire in the courtyard gradually subsided.
......
"Ah——" Ah Dai stood atop a wooden stake, desperately cutting through one wave after another that rushed towards him. Owen had already split the stake in half about half a year ago, asking Ah Dai to stand atop it and withstand the impact of tidal Swells as a way of practicing his stance. Wave after wave split apart by the Tian Gang Sword in Ah Dai’s hand, Ah Dai’s body was already soaked by the seawater. He was continuously venting, but the sorrow in his heart just wouldn’t fade.
Boom, a large wave knocked the exhausted Ah Dai into the sea. Ah Dai didn’t fight against the current, instead allowing wave after wave to wash over his body and the resentment in his heart.
"Why? Why did you have to kill Owen? Why——" Ah Dai bellowed with sorrow towards the sky. But apart from the roaring of turbulent waves, no one answered his question.
Ten days later, Ah Dai had gradually emerged from the grief of Owen’s passing. Owen’s death had greatly shocked him, a hint of resentment conquering the dull look on his face. After finishing a piece of dry food, Ah Dai strapped the pack and Tian Gang Sword on his body, touched the Hades Sword on his chest, left the reef group, figured out the direction, and walked towards the Red Charming Clan’s territory in the west. Owen’s last words were impressed deep within Ah Dai’s foolish brain. Those were Uncle’s final instructions, and he had to fulfill them no matter what.
What Ah Dai didn’t know was the lifesaving admonition Owen gave just before his death. Assassins from the Assassins’ Guild, looking for him, would only leave the day before when they failed to find him.
It’s already been three days, and Ah Dai finally reached the border of the Red Charming Clan, but all the dry food he had brought from home was finished. Having not consumed a single drop of water all day, his lips were slightly cracked and his mind seemed to be in a trance as he entered the city before him.
On the streets, people dressed in mercenary uniforms could be seen everywhere. Owen had once described the costumes of various professions to him, he knew that the Red Charming Clan was the birthplace of the Mercenary Guild. Here, countless mercenaries and mercenary corps gathered. His objective was to find the Mage Guild, and then he would have money to buy food.
