Chapter 783: 2 13 Ming Word Nine Decisions_2
Owen gasped for breath, and Ah Dai quickly intensified his infusion of True Qi. Owen glanced at him, his blood-red eyes revealing a trace of sorrow.
"Uncle, rest for a while, don’t speak yet."
But Owen shook his head and said, "If I don’t speak now, there won’t be a chance. Once I finish, you must leave here immediately. I don’t expect you to remember every word I say, but you must listen attentively. This relates to your future. Apart from the four fixed task execution groups in the Assassin’s Guild, there is an even more mysterious group. The one who just intercepted us, with a silver skull on his chest, is from that group. They are known as the Elder Assassins. This means they are elder-level executioners, all over sixty, and retired assassins who have reached executioner level. The Guild provides for them until death, and despite their many years of experience as assassins and their exceptional skills, they still take on some special tasks. The status of these Elder Assassins is highly revered in the Guild. Only the head – ah, no! – the President of the Assassin’s Guild can command them. I am not sure about their numbers but there shouldn’t be many. Killing six today, I guess there are at most another six. That one with a golden skull embroidered on his chest is the Vice President of the Assassin’s Guild. You’ve seen his abilities. Without the Sword of Hades, I would stand no chance against him."
Ah Dai asked, "Uncle, is that Vice President your enemy then?"
Owen’s blood-red eyes widened in hatred and he spat out, "He’s just one of them; another one is the President of the Assassin’s Guild, also known as the head by all the assassins. I’ve been in the Guild for so many years, but I still don’t know his true identity. He destroyed my once peaceful life and ruined my entire existence." His body suddenly convulsed, shuddered continuously, and exuded immense hatred. After a while, Owen continued, "Speaking of this, I must tell you about my secret. Ah Dai, undo the front of my coat."
Ah Dai was taken aback but followed the order. He carefully untied Owen’s blood-stained coat to reveal a slit in his undergarment that was slightly bulging, as if something were hiding beneath.
Owen took a deep breath, a flash of white light swept across his face, and he carefully pressed on his back, causing a movement in the bulge. He delicately drew something out from the slit. It was a black leather bag, with a long strap running diagonally across it. The elongated bag was about five inches long and a black sword hilt protruded from it. The hilt was carved with intricate symbols, a black gemstone sat at the end, and a faint Evil Aura was constantly emanating from it.
Owen gazed infatuatedly at the exposed sword hilt and sighed, "This is the Sword of Hades, the weapon that made me famous on the continent." He grasped the hilt and pulled the Sword of Hades from the bag. A life-like bone dragon was engraved on the black sheath, but devoid of scales, only the skeletal frame was visible. Its teeth were bared and claws were out, looking eerily peculiar. Two gemstones at the eyes of the bone dragon glowed faintly blue. As the sword was drawn from the bag, its sheath still on, the Evil Aura surged. Despite being protected by the True Qi, Ah Dai still unconsciously shivered.
"This leather bag has been with me for almost forty years now. My nickname ’Hades’ also comes from this sword. The sword could be described as the most wicked and evil object in the world. It has granted me unparalleled strength, but also indirectly ruined my life. That year, I was 27 years old and had already become an expert after years of diligent Martial Arts training. Being young and reckless, I loved to go on adventures with a group of friends. We unexpectedly stumbled upon an Ancient Secret Treasury. Although it was fraught with danger, our interest was piqued. After nearly a month of effort, we finally entered the inner part of the Secret Treasury. Instead of the treasure we imagined, there was only a huge Sealed Demon Array; this Sword of Hades was hung within. I later understood that the purpose of the Sealed Demon Array was to seal the Evil Aura of the Sword of Hades. We tried many ways to break it but couldn’t. We lovers of adventures did not give up and after more than a month, we finally found the key to the Array. The moment we destroyed that, the colossal Evil Aura consumed the lives of my companions. I alone was spared due to my cultivation of the divine ’Sacred Aura’ technique from childhood. The Sword of Hades seemed to possess a Spiritual Energy and floated in front of me. The death of my companions deeply affected me. I wanted to put the Sword of Hades back into the Sealed Demon Array, but unfortunately, the array had been destroyed, making it impossible to restore. Just then, a voice echoed in the cave, a voice I can still clearly recall, left by a high-level Magic method of sound transmission. The voice claimed to be that of the fourth Pope, who had unintentionally discovered the Sword of Hades, only to narrowly escape being devoured by its tremendous Evil Power. He did not have enough power to destroy the sword and had to set up the Sealed Demon Array with several Red Bishops, to seal the Sword of Hades. He said, anyone who destroys this Sealed Demon Array would become a sinner; they must guard the Sword of Hades to prevent the spread of its evil. When the Pope first got the Sword of Hades, he also found two scrolls. One of them detailed the sword’s usage technique. The second scroll, not even the Pope could decipher. I estimated that by the time I found the Sword of Hades, it was at least a few thousand years old. You must know, the current Pope is the twenty-eighth generation."
