Chapter 63: Chapter 17 Holding Death as a Hostage_1
Xuan Yue stared at Ah Dai as he approached, and scolded, "What do you think you’re doing?"
Ah Dai shot her a piercing look, repressing the anger rising in his chest, and turned to the steamed bun shop owner saying, "I’m really sorry, this is for you. Please consider the buns I took earlier as bought." He took out a handful of gold coins from the monthly allowance he had just received and crammed them into the fat owner’s hand. The owner was stunned, and jumped in fright when he saw the handful of gold coins in his hand.
"Mr. Magician, a bun doesn’t cost that much. Please consider it as my gift to you." Ah Dai, now cloaked in a magic robe with Tian Gang Sword on his back, was still unrecognizable to the owner. Being a commoner, he wouldn’t dare offend a magician.
Ah Dai lifted his hood and said, "Uncle, it’s me. Please accept it."
The shop owner gasped in surprise, exclaiming "Ah! You, Ah Dai, when did you become a magician?"
Ah Dai scratched his head and said, "I’m just an ordinary magician. You go about your business, uncle. I have to go now." He bent down to pick up the steamed bun that Xuan Yue had dropped and left without looking back.
"Hey, hey." Xuan Yue called out twice, but Ah Dai acted as if he couldn’t hear her and vanished around a corner. Xuan Yue’s action of throwing away the steamed bun had deeply angered him.
Xuan Yue had lived a pampered life since childhood and was not used to being treated in such a manner. Angered, she hurried after Ah Dai. After Ah Dai had turned the corner, Xuan Yue blocked his path, "What’s your problem? Don’t forget, you promised to be my servant." When they were at the Mage Guild, the main reason Xuan Yue insisted on having Ah Dai as her servant was purely for her amusement. She felt the naive boy was easily fooled. As a noble, she never took Ah Dai seriously, viewing him like a commoner. But now, the commoner she looked down upon was ignoring her just because she had tossed away a steamed bun.
Ah Dai responded indifferently, "Do you need anything else? From now on, I won’t follow you anymore, nor will I be your servant."
Xuan Yue glared at Ah Dai furiously, "You’re going back on your words. You promised to be my servant. All because I threw away a lousy bun?"
Ah Dai gave her a cold look, brushed the dust off the bun, and said, "In my heart, a steamed bun is far more valuable than you."
Ah Dai’s words deeply wounded Xuan Yue’s pride and she yelled out angrily, "Are you asking for trouble?" With a wave of her magic wand, five small light bullets shot towards Ah Dai.
Ah Dai’s eyes sparkled as he emanated a white aura, blocking all five light bullets with his own power. Ah Dai stood his ground, and with his aura radiating, Xuan Yue was shocked and stumbled backward. Their magic power was greatly expended after leaving the Mage Guild not long ago, and had not yet recovered. In close proximity, a mage of a similar level definitely couldn’t defeat a samurai.
Xuan Yue was surprised to see the aura emanating from Ah Dai. The divine aura made Ah Dai look majestic, he no longer resembled the naive boy who she bullied in the Mage Guild, "You, you dare fight back! Don’t force me to ask my father to get rid of you."
Disgust crossed Ah Dai’s face, "Then you should run home to your father. What’s the point of clinging to me? Depending on parents isn’t very impressive. Let me say it again; as of now, I’m no longer your servant and I won’t be following you anymore." He took a step towards Xuan Yue, pushed her aside, and strode away without looking back.
Xuan Yue stood still in surprise. No one had ever treated her in such a way ever since she could remember. Her wounded pride didn’t let her accept defeat easily, she yelled out, "You, you stop right there."
Ah Dai paused, while still holding the steamed bun, and said without looking back, "Do you know how important this steamed bun is to me? Without it, I wouldn’t have survived this long. Without steamed buns, there would be no me today. In my heart, steamed buns are equivalent to my own life. But you, the lady of the Holy Church, have just insulted my life. We’re even now." Infuriated Ah Dai, surprisingly had a very clear mind, and was able to completely and precisely express his thoughts.
"You, well, if you leave, I will show you by killing myself." Xuan Yue knew she stood no chance against Ah Dai under the current circumstances, so she resorted to her last trick — throwing a tantrum.
Ah Dai froze for a moment, turned to look at Xuan Yue on the verge of tears, and said, "You’re the lady of the Holy Church, and your father is a senior priest. Why are you clinging onto me, an insignificant person? I’m not falling for your tricks. I refuse to believe someone of your noble status would harm yourself over a commoner like me. Goodbye, Miss Yue Yue."
Ah Dai’s cold demeanor enraged Xuan Yue, making her shudder. She stammered, "Fine, you don’t believe me, do you? If I die, it will be because of you." She tightly gripped her magic wand with both hands and abruptly thrust it towards her own stomach. The sharp, triangular tip of her wand glittered under the sun.
Ah Dai turned pale with shock. He did not expect Xuan Yue to be so resolute. Seeing her determination to risk her life, he mobilized all his internal aura. In a flash, Ah Dai reached her and grabbed her hands. But Xuan Yue seemed to have made up her mind and was some distance away from Ah Dai. By the time Ah Dai grabbed her hands, the tip of the magic wand had already plunged slightly into Xuan Yue’s stomach. She grunted, and her body slowly crumpled down.
