Chapter 58: Chapter 16: Brutal Girl_1
Ah Dai quickly agreed--after all, he had already passed the Magician’s test, so waiting a little longer wouldn’t make much of a difference.
Kigg turned to the girl and inquired with a smile, "Miss, if I’m not mistaken, you are from the Court, right?"
The girl was startled, asking, "How did you know?"
"Well, I am a grand magician after all," Kigg replied. "If I can’t recognize the Church’s highest blessing magic, the Holy Light Descendant, then I might be considered blind. May I ask if you’re the high priest’s daughter?"
The girl was surprised. She had not anticipated that her identity would be recognized here. Pouting, she said, "I came here to take a magic test, not to give you a background check. You’re the sub-guild leader, right? Hurry up and test me."
Kigg hid his distress. From the girl’s demeanor, he deduced she was no ordinary person. The Holy Light Descendant was a blessing magic cast by a Light Magician related by blood at the time of a child’s birth. It granted the child a Holy Physique, doubling the effectiveness of their light magic studies in the future. At the same time, it also served to dispel all evil. Therefore, it was clear that the girl’s elders were high-ranking priests in the Court. Only those with the power of a White Robe Priest or higher could use such magic. Despite magicians holding a high status on the mainland, they were no match for the court. Due to their faith, all divinely ordained personnel had strong ties to each other. He didn’t want to offend the girl and be pursued by the Court of Justice. He quickly appeased her with a smile, "Since you’re from the court, wouldn’t it be better to be a goddess? Why bother to be tested here? If your elders blame me later, I’m afraid I won’t be able to bear the responsibility!"
The girl snorts, waving her magic wand, "I don’t want to be a goddess. They spend their days either practicing or praying, it’s really a pain. Hurry up and test me, otherwise, I’ll tell my father to cut off all your funding."
After hearing the girl’s words, Kigg was alarmed. He realized the seriousness of the situation. The girl’s father must wield significant power in the court, as only they could control the Mage Guild.
The good impression the girl initially left on Ah Dai vanished during her exchange with Kigg. He had never seen such a wilful and obstinate girl before. Fearing being dragged into the dispute, Ah Dai quietly withdrew and stood aside, watching how Kigg would handle the situation.
After hesitating for a while, Kigg finally said, "Alright, if you insist on taking the test, I won’t stop you. But if your elders blame me later, it’s not my fault."
The girl impatiently replied, "Okay, okay, just start. How should I be tested?"
Kigg grimaced, wondering why both of today’s testers were unaware of the testing methods. He had no choice but to explain: "You just need to hit me with your strongest magic."
The girl snorted and said, "Alright, be careful then." Raising her magic wand, she chanted, "May the light dispel evil, the holy guide the lost, release the free elements in the air... Holy Light!" As she chanted the spell, a faint white light halo emitted from the magic wand. The entire back hall was filled with a strong sacred aura. The halo grew bigger, enclosing the girl entirely in an instant. The girl had a faint smile on her face, and lightly swung her magic wand, "Holy Light, heed my command, dispel the evil in the world." A half-meter diameter Holy Light suddenly blasted towards Kigg under the guidance of the magic wand.
Kigg inwardly sighted, wondering when he had become the evil one. The Holy Light cast by the girl was high-level Light Magic, which has enhancing effects over all magic systems except for Dark Magic. This kind of high-level magic could only be used by advanced Light Magicians who had undergone the baptism of the Red Robe Priest. Kigg didn’t have full confidence in withstanding it, especially as he couldn’t harm the girl in front of him. He reluctantly enhanced the Water’s Protection he had gathered when the girl was chanting her spell to its maximum level, using all his magic power to form water ripples and refract the Holy Light from her to the side. However, he forgot that besides him and the girl, Ah Dai was also present in the hall.
Ah Dai was already amazed by the girl’s dazzling magic. This Holy Light seemed much more powerful than his Meteor Fire. The girl looked much younger than him but her magic level was much higher. He couldn’t help but admire her. Little did he know that the girl was able to cast the Holy Light mainly because of her innate knack for Light Magic, and principally, due to the divine wand in her hand which could rival a Divine Artifact.
The Holy Light shot towards Kigg’s defense Water’s Protection causing it to ripple violently. As sweat poured down Kigg’s forehead, he just managed to refract the Holy Light before it hit him, inadvertently directing it towards Ah Dai.
