Chapter 423: Chapter 90: Reunion with Xuan Yue_4
Ah Dai lay on the ground gasping heavily. The massive silhouette of Sheng Xie in front of him brought an unprecedented sense of security. Suddenly, he realized that he wasn’t alone, for he still had Sheng Xie! The Silver Body in his Dantian had already lost its splendor. Despite constantly revolving, his True Qi couldn’t bear such greedy consumption, leaving less than 40% energy left. No matter how he kept gathering it, he wouldn’t be able to recover rapidly. Ah Dai understood that in no circumstance could he defeat these eight men, he couldn’t kill them, not even with Sheng Xie’s help in his peak state. His strength was still simply too weak! The Assassin’s Guild wasn’t as easy to defeat as he had imagined. Supported by his Xuan Iron Bow, Ah Dai struggled back to his feet. The bow was so heavy that, in his state of greatly diminished strength, it felt like an unbearable burden. He knew that he was not only lacking in strength but was also severely injured and could no longer release the arrow of True Qi transformation. Helplessly, he had no choice but to recall it back into the Dragon’s Blood. He moved from Sheng Xie’s side and looked at the eight men from the guild who were still putting up a fierce struggle.
Sheng Xie continued to breathe out Dragon Breath, the gray gas corroding the energy shield put up by the guild men. Ah Dai’s heart tightened. He vaguely felt something was wrong. With the capabilities of guild’s members, they wouldn’t be so easily trapped. He turned to look at Sheng Xie, who was growing weary from continuously spewing Dragon Breath. The massive yet familiar figure filled Ah Dai’s heart with warmth. Just as he was about to gather some energy to help Sheng Xie, something unexpected happened.
Guild member 1 understood that if they continued like this, the gray gas would inevitably break through their energy shield, causing unspeakable damage once it touches the body. To fulfill his goal of killing Ah Dai, he decided to exhaust his energy to keep him trapped there. While maintaining the energy shield, he said in low voice, "Give it all you’ve got and fragment the universe to kill." The eight members synchronized and pushed their energy to the limit. They took off, rocketing into the sky amidst their defense shield.
Seeing his enemy’s unexpected action, the Dragon Breath spewed from Sheng Xie’s mouth slowed. The black energy shield disappeared and the pressure suddenly grew, even the powerful Sheng Xie couldn’t help but reveal a hint of fear. He spread his wings to shield Ah Dai, gathering his Dragon Power. The seven golden horns on his back began to glow as a sacred aura enveloped his entire body. Streams of golden energy gushed from the six smaller horns, congregating towards the largest one on his forehead. Watching Sheng Xie protect him, Ah Dai’s heart trembled. He vowed to himself that he would rather die than let Sheng Xie be harmed.
Ah Dai was trying to summon the Bone Dragon to help Sheng Xie when Sheng Xie stopped him. Although Ah Dai didn’t understand why, he respected Sheng Xie’s decision.
Sheng Xie stopped Ah Dai from summoning the Bone Dragon because he discovered in Dragon’s Blood that the Bone Dragon had somehow fused with something and become exceptionally strong, out of his control. The Bone Dragon was captured by him to help Ah Dai, but if it couldn’t be controlled with energy, he feared that Bone Dragon could turn against Ah Dai. It would be better to risk his life to protect Ah Dai than to face such a precarious situation. They couldn’t afford any more disadvantages at this point.
Ah Dai gathered the remaining True Qi, waiting for the final fight. Each second allowed him to gather more energy, so he didn’t plan to attack first.
The men from the Assassins Guild hovering in the air suddenly came to a standstill. They stood upright, raising their Narrow Swords high in unison. The lead guild member was at the forefront. His black fighting spirit surged upwards, creating massive energy waves. The fighting spirit in the air gradually condensed into a huge energy blade and the assassins poured their complete strength into it. Their eyes glowed in anticipation. Lagging behind, the first man called out loudly, "Extinguish—!" and the remaining assassins followed, "World—one—Slash—Burst—Heaven—Ground—".
The chilling phrase echoed in the air and the eight men shouted in unison, "Kill—!"
The massive black energy blade, guided by their collective strike, hurtled through the sky from above. It slashed towards Ah Dai and Sheng Xie like a cataclysmic force. In the face of the descending energy blade, Sheng Xie released his full strength. A roar of the dragon was heard, and a massive pillar of golden light shot up into the sky, racing towards the energy blade. Amid the loud rumble, it barely halted the descent of the energy blade. The intense energy shredded every bit of vegetation within a hundred meters’ radius. The black and golden energy lingered in the air, with the black energy taking the upper hand, slowly descending. The smell of death loomed closer and closer to Ah Dai and Sheng Xie. Unbeknownst to Ah Dai and Sheng Xie, Sheng Xie’s energy was not enough to block the most powerful attack of the guild members. But because this attack usually called for the strength of nine, with one man missing, naturally the power was greatly reduced. Not to mention, the energy of the eight was lessened significantly due to injury, hence Sheng Xie barely managed to block it.
Ah Dai could feel Sheng Xie’s body twitching subtly. Even Sheng Xie was gradually no match for the immense pressure. Grey scales began to bleed, his golden eyes dulled. His entire power was draining away. Although the massive black energy does seem to be weakening, Ah Dai clearly understood the first one to perish would definitely be Sheng Xie. Even the scales on its body couldn’t withstand such a powerful energy attack.
