Chapter 221: Chapter 49 - Great Progress in Skills_2

Although Ah Dai was immersed in his training, his remarkable perceptiveness borne of being at the sixth layer of ’Sheng Sheng Jue’ was evident. Viewing the stone hurled by Sheng Xie, Ah Dai acted neither out of haste nor anxiety. The white blade of energy, guided by his five fingers, shifted as if manipulated by unseen threads. With a flash of light, the stone was pulverized to dust before it was even five meters away from Ah Dai, and swiftly carried away by the mountain winds.

Sheng Xie’s jaw dropped, and his large eyes blinked rapidly, not quite believing what had just transpired. Seeing this, Ah Dai chuckled. This moment of mirth caused his control to falter slightly and, due to inertia, the energy blade suddenly slipped out of his hands. Startled, Ah Dai leapt up, chased after the blade which contained forty percent of his power. In his moment of dismay, a threadlike white energy shot out from his hand, quickly catching up with the small blade, wrapping around its hilt, and pulling it back it toward him forcefully.

Falling to the ground, Ah Dai looked at the energy thread in his hand and discovered, to his surprise, that it too was a form of solid-state energy. However, because the energy thread was extremely fine, the ten-foot length only consumed about ten percent of his power. One end of the energy thread had already been integrated into the handle of the energy blade. Ah Dai controlled the small blade to take flight again. With the guidance of the energy thread, he could now send the blade flying within a ten-meter radius around his body. Though it was more strenuous to control, the attack range expanded by more than twice due to the traction of the energy thread.

The Sword Saint of Tian Gang, who had emerged at some point, watched as Ah Dai excitedly wielded the transformative energy. He couldn’t help but smile, this child’s progress surpassed his wildest imagination! He had also seen Sheng Xie throw the stone earlier. Waving his hand, dozens of small stones rose from the ground and, under the watchful gaze of Sheng Xie, sped lightning-fast towards Ah Dai.

Engrossed in his practice, Ah Dai suddenly felt a powerful force approaching him. Rushing to parry, he swung the energy blade behind him. There was a muted thump, as a stone was reduced to ashes under the power of the energy blade. However, more stones were still flying towards him.

Startled, Ah Dai channelled all his energy into his True Qi, retreating whilst simultaneously defending against the onslaught of stones. As the white light flared brightly, the energy blade spun wildly, its hum punctuating the air. A majority of the stones vanished on contact with his attack. Still, three or four stones made contact with Ah Dai. Although the Sword Saint of Tian Gang had not put much force in his throw, and Ah Dai had the protection of his True Qi, the impact was still painful enough to make him cry out.

The Sword Saint of Tian Gang rebuked, "Your defensive net is too wide, your power too dispersed." Saying so, he launched another barrage of stones towards Ah Dai. Reeling in the energy thread upon receiving the Sword Saint’s advice, Ah Dai kept the energy blade within a three-meter radius in front of him. He withstood the pain coursing through his body, bracing himself for the next round of attack.

At that moment, something unexpected happened. Sheng Xie, who was seated at the side, suddenly rose, a golden light flashed in his eyes. Opening his dragon mouth, a gray mass of energy charged with a faint evil aura was emitted and drifted out. The stones in the air vanished silently upon coming into contact with the gray energy, effectively thwarting much of the Sword Saint’s second wave of attack. The remaining few stones were completely disintegrated under Ah Dai’s defence. The Sword Saint and Ah Dai both stood dumbstruck, their gazes shifting to Sheng Xie.

Sheng Xie sat back down, looking somewhat weary. It was clear that the release of gray energy had consumed a great deal of his strength. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

Ah Dai fell to the side of the Sword Saint of Tian Gang and asked in surprise, "Master, what did Xiao Xie just discharge?"

The Sword Saint forced a smile and said, "I was as clueless as you when it came to dragons. How would I know when you didn’t? You should ask it instead."

Ah Dai approached Sheng Xie, patting its big head, "Xiao Xie, what did you just spray out? It seemed to be powerful." Sheng Xie blinked its eyes, chirping unintelligibly, leaving Ah Dai utterly confused. Having failed to make its point, it seemed rather frustrated. With a gaping yawn, it aimed at the distant clouds and exhaled another gust of gray energy. The plume was much smaller than before, however, it still managed to vaporize a vast section of cloud cover. The rocks in its vicinity that came in contact with the energy instantly melted. Having spent its energy, Sheng Xie collapsed to the ground, panting and gradually closed his eyes.

This time the Sword Saint had a clear view, he felt the fluctuation of the energy and said in a serious tone, "The energy it discharged has a strong corrosive effect. It seems that it instantly corroded the stones earlier. Sheng Xie is still young, its corrosive dragon flame will become more potent as it grows. Be careful, Ah Dai, avoid coming into contact with this kind of energy. Otherwise, it may cause your body to dissolve as the stones did. But, you have Sheng Sheng Dou Qi to protect yourself. Unless Sheng Xie has more power than you, it won’t be able to harm you. Truly, the power of the dragon is terrifying. It’s only been seven days since it was born and it already has such great power. We can only guess at the surprises it will bring us when it matures. It seems to be tired, carry it back to the stone cave. And remember, when controlling Sheng Sheng Bian, your defense must be foolproof and your offense must be courageous and straightforward. Dominate your opponent with your momentum at the outset, and you will be invincible."
