Chapter 1485: Chapter 161: Meeting the Maid Again_3

Quietly landing in a rock garden within the courtyard, Ah Dai used the surrounding terrain to conceal himself, carefully observing his surroundings. Beside the rock garden stood a small bamboo grove, where nothing unusual seemed to stir. The gentle breeze set the bamboo leaves rustling, and under the glow of the bright moon, fragmented shadows of trees danced on the ground. Ah Dai stepped into the bamboo grove, not knowing where to begin his search. He could only grope his way to the grove’s edge and peer toward the rooms within the Governor’s Mansion.

Most of the buildings were shrouded in silence, with only a few showing faint lights. Seizing the moment when a team of patrolling soldiers passed by, Ah Dai leapt lightly onto the rooftop of one of the rooms and pressed himself flat without making a single sound. Taking a deep breath, he activated the Golden Body inside him, directing its energy toward his head, enhancing his hearing. A cacophony of noises instantly became clear and distinct in his ears. Sifting through the sounds, Ah Dai’s attention was caught by voices emanating from a room on the east side. It was a conversation between a man and a woman, or rather, playful banter. The man’s voice was heard saying, "Rong Rong, your skin is so smooth! It feels amazing to touch."

The woman let out a soft hum, her breathing growing slightly rapid, and said teasingly, "Stop it! Don’t touch me there! Hmph, how do I compare to that fake little sister of yours?"

The man chuckled apologetically and said, "Of course, you’re far superior. How could a lowly nobody like her even compare to a distinguished lady like you? Don’t bring her up while we’re together, alright?"

"Hmph, don’t try to brush it off with me. Let me tell you, if you don’t get her out of the Governor’s Mansion, I won’t marry you. You’d better take care of it."

"No, no, Rong Rong, don’t be like this. She’s, after all, the god-granddaughter adopted by my grandmother. By name, she’s also my sister, and now that she’s sick, it would seem too merciless to throw her out, wouldn’t it?"

The young woman sneered, "Don’t pretend to be so kindhearted with me. Haven’t you done worse things before? Yet you hesitate to kick her out? When I remember how cruel you were when you hit her, it honestly scares me to think of the same happening to me. I don’t care; you must drive her out by tomorrow morning. As for your grandparents, I’ll handle them. With the relationship my grandfather has with them, they’ll have to give me some face."

"Alright, alright, alright, my little grandmother. I’ll kick her out first thing tomorrow morning, okay? Rest assured, I’ll treat you well in the future. Come now, I can’t wait any longer."

A young woman’s moans echoed, mixing with the sounds of bodies entangling and fabric tearing. Ah Dai’s ears burned, and his heart raced at the intimate sounds. The voices, especially the man’s, seemed exceedingly familiar to him, as though he had heard them somewhere before. Frowning, Ah Dai quietly moved to the eaves of the room where the sounds came from, glancing around to ensure no one had noticed him. Driven by curiosity, he carefully removed a roof tile to peek inside. Inside, a man and a woman, their pale bodies entwined like rolling sheep, writhed on the large bed. It was a scene Ah Dai had never witnessed before, and his heart pounded abruptly as he quickly turned his head away. Suddenly, as if struck by realization, he turned back to look again. To his astonishment, he found that he actually recognized the couple locked in passionate embrace. The man was none other than the white-clad youth he had encountered in Duru City, and the woman was Rong Rong, the granddaughter of the Governor of Mica Province, Fagle. Ah Dai’s thoughts raced with disbelief: How were they together? That white-clad youth... wasn’t his name Tiro? And what about the girl who had been with him before? Weren’t they a couple?

An idea flashed through his mind. Connecting it to their earlier conversation, Ah Dai suddenly understood that the person they were planning to drive out was most likely the girl who had been with Tiro before and had even once given charity to him. But why was Tiro here in the Governor’s Mansion of Mica Province? Did he have some connection to this place? A sense of foreboding rose in Ah Dai’s heart, as though he was on the verge of realizing something but dared not fully accept it.

As Tiro and Rong Rong continued their fervent entanglement in the room, Ah Dai suddenly heard another sound from elsewhere in the Governor’s Mansion—a sorrowful cry, "Miss, Miss, wake up!"

Startled, the sound resonated deeply within Ah Dai, pulling at his heartstrings. Almost instinctively, he darted toward the source of the voice. The voice came from a small, secluded room located in one of the mansion’s corners—so out of the way that no patrolling soldiers had noticed it. Ah Dai landed lightly on the rooftop, hooked his toes onto the eaves, and let his body dangle down to peer into the room. Inside, a young girl dressed in a pink long dress, her hair tied in twin braids, was sobbing mournfully onto the bed. From the side, her features could be considered delicate. Ah Dai turned his gaze to the bed and instantly froze. Lying there was the very girl who had been with Tiro in Mica Province before. However, her complexion was deathly pale, utterly devoid of the vitality she once had. Seeing her condition, Ah Dai felt as though a heavy stone was pressing against his chest, suffocating him. With a gentle press of his toes on the eaves, he floated through the window and landed lightly behind the pink-clad girl.

The girl in pink was so consumed with grief that she had not noticed anyone behind her and continued to cry in sorrow. Ah Dai looked at the face of the lifeless Tifya on the bed, and a dull ache spread in his heart. From Tifya’s faint, shallow breaths, Ah Dai could feel clearly that she was on the verge of death, her life hanging by a mere thread. "What happened to her?"
