Chapter 1460: Chapter 155 Assassin’s Guild_5

Landing softly on the ground, Ah Dai casually washed his face and opened the door to stand outside Mie Feng’s room next door. Using True Qi to control his voice, he spoke through the door, "Mie Feng, I’m ready."

The door opened, and Mie Feng walked out with an exhausted expression. Her pale, delicate face squeezed out a forced smile. "Ready? It’s still early. Let’s wait until the sky is completely dark before we leave. I’ll get you something to eat." As she turned to go, Ah Dai suddenly grabbed her shoulder. Mie Feng trembled all over as if startled, fear in her voice: "You, what are you doing?" It seemed this had already become one of Ah Dai’s habitual actions.

Ah Dai froze for a moment and said, "What’s wrong? Did something scare you? You’ve been guarding me all day, haven’t you? Thank you—without you, there’s no way I’d have this chance to get revenge so quickly." Mie Feng visibly relaxed, awkwardly replying, "What’s there to thank? We have an agreement, don’t we? I’m helping you for my own revenge. Go back to your room and wait—I won’t be long." With that, she turned and walked toward the inn’s lobby.

Watching Mie Feng’s retreating figure, Ah Dai sighed lightly. He wasn’t sure how he truly felt about her. In Mie Feng, he saw echoes of Ice’s presence, yet she was still markedly different from Ice in so many ways. Shaking off his scattered thoughts forcefully, Ah Dai reminded himself that what he should focus on now was revenge—how to kill. Matters of romance would never intertwine with his destiny. With a heavy heart, he returned to his room.

After a short while, Mie Feng returned holding a tray with two small dishes and a few steamed buns. Having not eaten all day, Ah Dai’s appetite was suddenly piqued at the sight of the fragrant food. He grabbed one of his favorite steamed buns and took a bite, mumbling indistinctly, "Thanks, Mie Feng. If I fail at tonight’s revenge, this might be my last supper."

Mie Feng’s body trembled as she set the tray down on the table. Looking down, she said, "Y-You shouldn’t say such things. Your martial arts skills are so strong—you’ll definitely be able to kill all those assassins. I... I’ll wait for you to come back." As she spoke, she handed a pair of chopsticks to Ah Dai. Her hands were trembling slightly, and the chopsticks slipped from her grasp, falling to the ground. Swift and alert, Ah Dai caught the chopsticks mid-air with one hand, smiling as he said, "Why are you more nervous than me? It’s not you facing revenge. I’ll protect myself and make sure I survive—our agreement hasn’t been fulfilled yet!" Speaking these words, he reached out with the chopsticks toward the food on the tray when Mie Feng suddenly let out a surprised gasp, her face draining of all color.

Ah Dai jumped in shock, halting his movements. With confusion, he asked, "What’s wrong with you today? You’re acting so strange. Are you feeling unwell?"

Mie Feng shook her head and replied, "I’m fine, just a little worried about you. I won’t disturb your meal anymore—I’ll step out now. You don’t need to inform me when you leave. I... I hope you return safely." With that, she dashed out of Ah Dai’s room. Watching her hurriedly retreating figure, Ah Dai couldn’t help but feel a peculiar sensation in his heart. He shook his head lightly, picked up a piece of food with his chopsticks, and placed it in his mouth.

Mie Feng ran back to her room, shutting the door tightly. She covered her face with her hands, silently crying. Tears streamed through the gaps in her fingers, soaking the front of her clothes.

After his satisfying meal, the sky had gradually darkened, and night descended upon the world. Ah Dai removed his outer garment, revealing the Giant Spirit Snake Armor beneath. He carefully placed the Dragon’s Blood within the armor, silently thinking to himself: If the situation becomes unfavorable tonight, I might have to summon Sheng Xie. After all, the Duke’s Mansion had so many assassins, not to mention the enigmatic master. Whether he could successfully avenge himself remained an open question. Tightening the leather bag around the Sword of Hades, Ah Dai opened the window and leapt out. Under the cover of the black Giant Spirit Snake Armor, unless someone deliberately scrutinized the surroundings, no one would spot him floating in the air. He glanced toward the window of Mie Feng’s room, exhaling a deep breath before propelling himself like lightning toward the Duke’s Mansion, driven by his True Qi. The moment of revenge had finally arrived.
