Chapter 1456: Chapter 155 Assassin’s Guild

Mie Feng tugged at Ah Dai’s collar and said, "Big brother, let’s go. Don’t waste your anger on these scoundrels." As she spoke, she shot Ah Dai a meaningful look and pulled him along into Sunset City.

As soon as they entered the city gates, Mie Feng complained, "Why are you so impulsive? Have you forgotten why you came here? Aren’t you afraid your identity will be exposed? Be more careful in the future."

Ah Dai cursed angrily, "Whenever I see these arrogant bullies relying on their power, I can’t control myself. It seems I still haven’t fully digested my malevolent aura! Over the past half year, I’ve killed too many people. The killing intent has grown too fierce." Having killed a regular soldier, he felt a twinge of guilt in his heart. Just then, he noticed Mie Feng lingering near the city gate, not following him inside. Curious and puzzled, he walked back to her. Her gaze was locked onto an inconspicuous spot on the city wall, where faint white marks formed what looked like a pattern. Ah Dai asked, "What are you looking at? Let’s go inside."

Mie Feng snapped out of her daze, her face twitching slightly and growing pale. Forcing herself to speak, she replied, "It’s nothing. Let’s go." With that, she finally entered Sunset City alongside Ah Dai.

Sunset City was indeed bustling; the streets were packed with people, and the loud calls of street vendors came in waves. Ah Dai pointed to a small inn not far ahead. "Mie Feng, let’s stay there." Mie Feng didn’t respond, keeping her head down as she walked ahead, seemingly oblivious to Ah Dai’s words. Ah Dai frowned; ever since she noticed those traces at the city gate, Mie Feng seemed depressed. Unable to hold back, he grabbed her by the shoulder and called, "Mie Feng, Mie Feng, did you hear me?"

Mie Feng came back to reality and murmured blankly, "Huh? What did you say? I didn’t catch that."

Ah Dai frowned and said, "What’s the matter with you? Didn’t you say we needed a place to stay? Let’s go to that small inn over there—it’s inconspicuous and a suitable spot."

Mie Feng nodded slightly, saying weakly, "Alright, let’s stay there." She then walked toward the inn first. Ah Dai didn’t understand why she was acting this way and shook his head before following her. The two rented two ordinary rooms in the inn. As soon as Ah Dai went into his room, Mie Feng stopped him, saying, "Ah Dai, rest here for now. I’ll take you to the Assassin’s Guild tonight. I need to go out for a bit now."

Ah Dai froze and asked, "We’ve arrived in the Empire of Sunset City, and you’re finally about to fulfill the promise you made to me. Where are you heading at a time like this?"

Mie Feng’s pale face twitched slightly as she said, "The marks on the gate you saw earlier were a sign from our Thieves’ Guild. Someone is trying to contact me—I need to see what’s going on. Don’t worry, I’ll be back before evening." Without waiting for Ah Dai’s reply, she turned and walked out. Those marks weren’t just a casual signal; they were the Thieves’ Guild’s highest emergency summons used only during critical events. Mie Feng realized something had changed within the guild, prompting her urgency to investigate.

Ah Dai watched Mie Feng’s retreating figure but didn’t stop her. He returned to his room alone. The time for revenge against Owen was drawing near. To ensure success, he had to be in peak condition. Removing his shoes, he lightly leaped onto the bed and began cultivating. Under the weight of his hatred, it took him a long time to achieve the state of forgetting both himself and the outside world.

Mie Feng indeed returned by evening, though her complexion remained pale, and a flicker of conflict shone in her eyes. Knocking on Ah Dai’s door, she tried to keep her expression steady and said, "Let’s go. I’ll take you to the Assassin’s Guild." Ah Dai looked at her and asked, "Did something happen with your Thieves’ Guild? Your face looks troubled."

Mie Feng shook her head and replied, "It’s an internal matter—it’s resolved now. Let’s go. I need to fulfill my promise to you."

Although Ah Dai felt uneasy about Mie Feng’s demeanor, his desire for vengeance consumed most of his thoughts, leaving him little room to ponder further. He gathered his belongings and followed Mie Feng out of the inn. The weather was bad that day; the sky was covered in heavy clouds. By nightfall, the obstructed moonlight cast a shroud of darkness across the land.

Mie Feng walked briskly, heading straight westward in Sunset City. Keeping up with her, Ah Dai transmitted his voice and asked, "Where exactly is the Assassin’s Guild? Can you tell me now?"

Mie Feng nodded and replied softly, "The Assassin’s Guild survives on the continent largely because of the Empire of Sunset City’s protection. Their headquarters is located within the estate of a prominent noble in the Empire. As for the relationship between the guild master and that noble, I’m not sure. I only know that even high-level thieves like me cannot infiltrate that estate. Be careful with everything. Tonight isn’t necessarily the time to act—gather information first, and don’t alert them prematurely."

Ah Dai nodded and said, "Don’t worry. I’ll be cautious. I won’t repeat what happened in Tai Ang City and allow myself to be surrounded again."

Mie Feng looked deeply at Ah Dai and said, "That’s for the best." Despite his eagerness for revenge, the vibrant nightlife of the Empire of Sunset City forced them to adopt an ordinary pace among the commoners. After walking for over an hour, Mie Feng finally stopped. Pointing ahead, she said, "There it is."
