Chapter 1370: Chapter 136 Going to the Elves_3

Yan Shi’s feelings were incredibly complex at this moment. He understood what Yan Fei had said, but deep down, he was avoiding the issue; he didn’t want to go to the Elf Clan at all! He was not like Ah Dai; Ah Dai had never held any romantic feelings for the Elf Princess Star, instead, he merely regarded her as a younger sister. But Yan Shi? More than a year had passed. Time had not weakened the emotions in his heart, and almost every night, he would dream of Zhuo Yun’s gentle smile. To suppress the longing in his heart, he practiced his skills tirelessly, attempting to distract himself with fatigue. However, all of these efforts were futile. How could a person’s heart change so easily? If he were to accompany Ah Dai and the others to the Elf Clan this time, it was very likely that he would see Zhuo Yun. How should he face her? And what if he couldn’t control his emotions? With all these complex feelings, he just wanted to run away.

"Clan Leader is right, big brother, let’s go with Ah Dai and the others. It’s been a year since we left the Elf Clan, and I wonder how the Elf Queen and the others are now," Yan Li remarked. How could he not be aware of the torment in his elder brother’s heart? Since leaving the Elf Clan, Yan Shi had not smiled at all. He reverted to the same state as after the death of his wife Yun Er. He was aware of Yan Shi’s concerns, but he did not want him to continue suffering. Hence, he decided to push the matter forward earnestly at this moment.

Yan Shi took a deep breath, knowing that he could no longer choose to run away, and reluctantly nodded his head heavily.

Ah Dai was unaware of Yan Shi’s inner thoughts. Seeing that he had agreed to travel together, Ah Dai was overjoyed, "Brother Yan Shi, our brothers can roam the continent together again. If there isn’t any major issue with the Elf Clan, let’s head to the Death Mountain Range afterwards. That’s where we were headed last time! With you and Brother Yan Li joining us, we will be even more confident."

Yan Shi gave Ah Dai a resigned glance and sighed, "Alright, I suppose I’ll risk my life to keep you company."

Yue Ji glanced at Yan Shi; she had not forgotten the time Yan Shi had slapped her all those years ago, and she said indifferently, "Since it’s still early, let’s set out now."

After bidding farewell to the Clan Leader of the Pu Yan Clan, Yan Fei, Ah Dai, Xuan Yue, and the group of seven set out on their journey to the Elf Clan. Although Xuan Yue was anxious, considering that Ah Dai had just recovered, she didn’t want to hurry him as they previously did on their way to the Pu Yan Clan. Instead, the group moved toward the Elf Clan territory at a normal pace.

Four days later, in the Elf Forest, Elf City.

Xuan Ye collapsed exhausted on the ground, retracting the hand that had been placed on the Elf Queen’s shoulder. The Elf Queen exhaled a breath of relief, having managed to withstand another attack from the enemy with the help of the Ancient Barrier of the Elf Clan.

That day, after more than two hundred people led by Xuan Ye escaped the Valley of Destruction, they exerted all their strength to flee towards the outskirts of the Tian Yuan Clan. Behind them, a few Kings of Heaven with minor injuries were closely pursuing them. Along the way, Xuan Ye and his group fought through multiple blockades set by the Dark Forces and unexpectedly found themselves within the territory of the Elf Clan—the Elf Forest.

The Elves naturally recognized Xuan Ye and immediately allowed them into the Barrier. At this point, from over a thousand of the Church’s people, only ninety-two remained, completely exhausted. After barely explaining the situation to the Elf Queen, Xuan Ye passed out. The Elf Queen made a quick decision, summoning all Elf Mages of the clan to push the Ancient Barrier of the Elf Forest to its maximum efficacy, barely repelling the assault of the Dark Forces. The first two days were somewhat manageable for them, as most of the remaining eleven Kings of Heaven were injured. However, after two days, just as Xuan Ye and his companions started to recover a little, they discovered that the entire Elf Forest was surrounded by tens of thousands of troops from more than ten Alien Races, led by the Kings of Heaven who had recovered their power. They launched repeated assaults on the Elf Forest. Now, those who had besieged them in the Valley of Destruction were merely the elite of the Dark Forces, and not their entire power. To annihilate Xuan Ye and his companions, races like Dwarves, Winged Ones, Half-Beasts, and others exerted their full clan effort to come and seal all the routes out of the Elf Forest. Furthermore, they launched wave after wave of fierce attacks. Although the Elf Clan was powerful, without the Ancient Barrier, they would have been powerless against so many races. Even so, due to the tremendous Magic Power expended, the stamina of the Elf Mages was nearly drained. All Xuan Ye could do now was meditate desperately every day, and then pour all his strength into assisting the Elf Queen in channeling Energy into the Barrier. Fortunately, on the second day of the Dark alien races’ assault, the Divine Light Rain caused by Ah Dai and Xuan Yue provided a significant help. While the Light Rain did not affect the Elves and the Church’s members, it caused considerable trouble for the Dark creatures crouching outside. Due to the dispersing Energy, the Light Rain wasn’t enough to eliminate the powerful Dark alien races, but after all, it contained Divine Energy. Under its cleansing effect, all Dark alien races, including the twelve Kings of Heaven, had their strength diminished to varying degrees. The subsequent attacks were therefore much weaker. It took them three days to recover from the shadow of the Divine Energy. Those three days also gave the Elf Clan and Xuan Ye’s group the chance to catch their breath, allowing them to hold on until now.
