"What?" Khalifa exclaimed and immediately prepared to go.

"Wait," Sigmund said, heading towards his cabinet. Chris’ jaw was clenched and wanted to punch him for delaying Khalifa, but he stopped himself.

He only walked out of the room and waited, afraid he’d delay the departure even more if he snapped from stress.

Sigmund rummaged for another moment and he came out with a large crystal as big as her to palms together. "It’s an amalgamation of about a hundred crystals," he said.

"I also removed the impurities, making it a pure piece. I have studied its structure and it is stable enough, but there is a synergy of elements that could make its absorption faster than usual."

Khalifa blinked and looked at him, smiling. "Thank you," she said and put it in her space right in front of him.

Sigmund flinched, staring at the space where the crystal was just at, but otherwise didn’t say anything. Khalifa smiled, turning away to go out and join Chris.

Chris heaved out the breath he was holding at the sight of her, immediately moving forward.

"Forgive me," he said and immediately carried her up so he could run to the clinic. He couldn’t drag a heavily pregnant woman around, could he?

Khalifa: "..."

Khalifa arrived at the clinic and a few of her men had gotten the news and rushed over. When she was put down, Khalifa was immediately surrounded by Cauis and Kaize, who were the ones on the island at that time.

"Khalifa is pregnant as well! Can she even use her powers properly?" Cauis asked, holding her hand, stopping her from entering the room.

She sighed and patted his hand.

Khalifa was now in her second trimester and her pregnancy had stabilized. This allowed everything else to do so as well, except perhaps her powers—which was markedly a bit weaker than usual, though she assumed it had to do with the children gestating inside of her.

"I’ll be fine. I know my body best," she said, looking at Chris who was very much about to explode.

The men looked at her for a few moments, no doubt thinking of how to convince her. But Khalifa had always been headstrong and they knew they could only delay the inevitable.

They sighed and gave way, hoping for the best.

Khalifa hurriedly entered the room, to see that the nurse and the midwife were trying to stop the bleeding.

And it was bad.

Khalifa’s eyes widened, realizing that Claire’s status was even more serious than she thought!

The only reason the two women weren’t yelling for help was because there was no one who could help them—no one except for Khalifa!

Khalifa didn’t waste another second and used her ability. She waved her hand, stopping the bleeding directly, and then immediately began to heal, reinvigorating the girl’s organs to adjust to the loss of blood.

Khalifa then tried to handle her bone marrow and her heart, but she flinched when she realized her ability was weakened to a lower level than she thought.

It was like suddenly walking with weights. The energy consumption was also much higher.

She looked at the women. "Get me some crystals," she said, and the two women immediately ran out.

Now alone with Claire, she took out Sigmund’s crystal in her hand, absorbing it as she would a normal crystal.

Whoosh!

Her eyes widened at the flash of energy, feeling her power filled up. The crystal was absorbed fast—extremely fast, and it felt like she could absorb the so-called hundred crystals at the speed of absorbing one!

Her eyes widened. Sigmund really overdid himself!

This was a game changer!!

Soon, the two women arrived and placed the crystals on her foot. Khalifa woke up Claire with her ability—enticing adrenaline and the like. As Khalifa continued to heal her, to repair her wounds, the natural delivery resumed.

Claire screamed loudly as she tried to push the baby out. It was a horrifying scream and Chris outside lost his strength and was kneeling on the ground.

Seeing him like this, there was no doubt that he was blaming himself for Claire’s suffering.

The men around couldn’t help but feel heavy as well. In a few months, it would be Khalifa’s turn.

If it was before, they would not worry as much, but they knew how her power wasn’t as reliable as it was.

She couldn’t recover as well now. What if things get dangerous?

Kylo and Hugo arrived around this time. They went home after a long day of work at the Port Base, with Kylo training the forces and Hugo perfecting the weapons factory there.

How shocked they were to hear Claire was giving birth and Khalifa had to do emergency treatments!

They wanted to beat up whoever pushed her but then they saw the atmosphere.

Then they heard of Claire’s piercing cries and immediately thought the same dark thoughts as the others.

If anything happened to Khalifa—

No, their minds refused to continue that line of thought!

The men’s mind was just blank as they listened to the woman’s cry, trying not to imagine how it’d be like when it was Khalifa’s turn.

Kylo sighed, looking at everyone else. "We can only do our best to prepare and trust Khalifa is strong enough.

"We will make sure of it."

It took about another hour, but the sound of a baby crying soon resounded, making everyone feel relieved.

The nurse and midwife’s knees buckled in nervousness—Chris’ murderous aura earlier didn’t help—and it was Khalifa who wrapped the baby in clean cloth.

It was a handsome little boy. He had that bloody wrinkly face that all babies had—everyone studied in preparation—but she still found him to be an incredibly beautiful creature.

She looked at Claire, who was a little teary from the pain. Khalifa smiled and walked closer, sitting at the edge of the bed as she put the baby closer to his mother.

"My baby…" Claire mumbled, weakly extending her arms as she took her baby. She looked at Khalifa, rounded eyes teary with gratitude. "Thank you, so much."

Khalifa smiled, looking warmly at the child.

"It is my honor to help you, not just as a friend," she said. "This baby might be the very first newborn after all this happened."

Khalifa smiled. "Do you see, Claire? He is like a ray of hope to humanity."
