Chapter 44: Peak of the Spirit Channeling Realm
Tang Yin did not retreat, instead, he activated the Abyssal Sword and charged towards the almost lifeless rhino. The Metal-Armoured Rhino did not have any strength to charge towards Tang Yin, so it took a defensive position.
Tang Yin arrived beside the rhino in the blink of an eye, he swung his Abyssal Sword at the Metal-Armoured Rhinos’ neck. Clang, the sound of metal colliding resounded in the air. Tang Yin was swiftly pushed back, he had not managed to leave even a dent on the Metal-Armoured Rhino’s neck.
Tang Yin analysed the rhino’s body and found a few parts of its body not protected by its metal armour; these unprotected parts were the key to victory.
He rushed towards the Metal-Armoured Rhino once again, he did not attack it blindly but aimed for its unprotected joints. The rhino shifted its body to the side, but it was too slow. Tang Yin swept past its legs; blood gushed out of the joints. The Metal-Armoured Rhino fell to its knees.
Tang Yin did not stop, he turned back around and at the same speed attacked its joints once again. The Metal-Armoured Rhino completely collapsed, but it was not dead yet. Tang Yin walked beside the almost-dead rhino; the rhino had no strength left whatsoever.
Tang Yin’s eyes were as cold and merciless as ever, he lifted his Abyssal Sword and stabbed the Metal-Armoured Rhino’s eye, the sword went through its eye and into its brain. The Low-tier Rank 2 Metal-Armoured Rhino finally died, Tang Yin sat down cross-legged in the middle of the 6 dead bodies of the Demonic Beasts.
He activated his Heaven Devouring Abyss Martial Spirit and rapidly devoured all of them. With a clang, the Demonic Beast Core of the Metal-Armoured Rhino fell onto the ground.
Tang Yin walked up to it and picked it up before storing it away in his storage ring. Because he had devoured the blood, flesh, bones and Beast Souls of a Low-tier Rank 2 Demonic Beast and 5 High-tier Rank 1 Demonic Beasts, he felt his cultivation reach the peak of the 8th stage of the Spirit Channelling Realm. He only needed to devour one more Low-tier Rank 2 Demonic Beast to advance to the 9th stage.
Tang Yin did not go to another territory of a Rank 2 Demonic Beast, instead, he left the Inner Ring and went to the various territories of several High-tier Rank 1 Demonic Beasts. With Xiao Fei, he subdued them all and brought them into the Inner Ring.
He followed the map and eventually arrived at the territory of a Low-tier Rank 2 Devilish Hound. This time he had brought only 6 High-tier Rank 1 Demonic Beasts. With a chirp from Xiao Fei, the 6 beasts rushed towards the black Devilish Hound. The Devilish Hound had fire coming out of its mouth with every breath it took, its 4 paws were also lit on fire.
The fight lasted for 45 minutes before coming to an end, the Devilish Hound was strong even among Low-tier Rank 2 Demonic Beasts. It had taken down 4 High-tier Rank 1 Demonic Beasts and seriously injured the remaining 2. Tang Yin did not show any mercy, he executed the 2 seriously injured beasts.
On the floor laid 7 corpses, Tang Yin activated his Martial Spirit and rapidly absorbed everything except the Demonic Beast Core of the Devilish Hound.
A familiar bang resounded within Tang Yin’s body; he had broken through to the 9th stage of the Spirit Channelling Realm. Tang Yin was extremely excited, but he knew he could not break into the Physique Transformation Realm yet. He could only attempt a breakthrough once he reached the pinnacle of the 9th stage.
Tang Yin had changed his mind, his original plan was to reach the 9th stage of the Spirit Channelling Realm and return to Maple Leaf City. But the allure of the Physique Transformation Realm was too great, he wanted to reach the peak of the 9th stage as fast as possible and attempt a breakthrough.
A month passed by. For most people, it was a long time but for Tang Yin, it was as quick as blinking his eyes.
Over the past month, he had continuously subdued High-tier Rank 1 Demonic Beasts with Xiao Fei and devoured many Low-tier Rank 2 Demonic Beasts, he did not absorb any of the Demonic Beast Cores though but stored them away in his storage ring.
By now most of the High-tier Rank 1 Demonic Beasts at the depths of the Middle Ring had disappeared.
Some of the High-tier Rank 1 Demonic Beasts were guarding herbs or ores, they were also swiftly taken away by Tang Yin. During the past month, Tang Yin had devoured numerous High-tier Rank 1 Demonic Beasts after they died battling for him, he had lost count of the exact number. He had also devoured 8 Low-tier Rank 2 Demonic Beasts, he had finally reached the long-awaited peak of the 9th stage of the Spirit Channelling Realm. He could attempt to form a Qi Sea at any time.
But he did not do so immediately, he only had one chance, if he failed, he would die. He had to prepare first; this would require a trip to Maple Leaf City.
Tang Yin left the Demonic Beast Mountain accompanied by Xiao Fei. Xiao Fei had grown fearful of Tang Yin during the last month, his mercilessness towards his own allies was deeply engrained in her bones. When Tang Yin asked her to do anything, she would immediately comply with a look of flattery on her face. The prideful air she once possessed was gone like the wind.
