Chapter 338: Solitary Survivor
After sorting everything out and determining his plan for the immediate future, Tang Yin continued to do what he had been doing for the past 8+ years, devouring Space Principles.
Tang Yin did not descend any further into the Abyss Layer. Firstly, he could not. His strength had not increased at all after reaching the Peak-stage Principle Comprehension Realm. Everything had been dedicated to the Abyss Firmament.
Secondly, Tang Yin was already having a difficult time bearing the intense pressure of the Space Principles in his current location. Although the pain had been somewhat dulled due to the large amount of time he had to adapt to it, it was still overwhelming.
Not to mention, the density and pressure of the Space Principles were almost doubled due to the Space Principle Attraction Flag Set.
Tang Yin took a deep breath before commanding the Heaven Devouring Abyss to Devour all the Space Principles that came near his body, which were a colossal amount.
After devouring the Space Principles, Tang Yin felt a strong surge of power channel throughout his body. Just the first devourment of Space Principles had increased his cultivation base by a sizable chunk! However, it was only the beginning towards his journey to the Principle Manipulation realm.
After a couple of hours, Tang Yin noticed that the pressure of the Space Principles had decreased by a negligible amount. He was somewhat surprised but then understood what was happening.
’As my cultivation base increases, my resistance against the pressure of the Space Principles also somewhat increases.’ Tang Yin deduced in his mind.
However, there was not much to be excited over. Unless Tang Yin reached the Principle Manipulation Realm, his increased resistance to the pressure of the Space Principles was trivial.
As time continued to pass, Tang Yin languidly sensed his cultivation base inch closer towards the Principle Manipulation Realm.
If any other cultivator were to sense the speed at which Tang Yin’s cultivation base increased, their jaw would drop to the ground. At this rate, Tang Yin would reach the Principle Manipulation Realm in just over a year!
Like this, the monotony of devouring Space Principles continued for 2 months.
However, unlike before, Tang Yin was devouring Space Principles to increase his cultivation base. The benefits were much more apparent as Tang Yin could sense his cultivation base’s incremental increase with each devourment of Space Principles.
Tang Yin had taken a tiny break to check up on Xiao Fei. Surprisingly, she was sleeping. She was not evolving, but just sleeping.
’She must’ve decided to sleep out of boredom.’ He did not disturb her but left her to enjoy her sleep even if it was just artificial. After all, powerful beings did not need to sleep like mortals.
Tang Yin shook his head and returned back to cultivating.
However, after just the first devourment of Space Principles, Tang Yin’s eyes suddenly snapped open. A jolt of anxiety and terror surged within him, propelling him to his feet with fierce urgency.
’Shit, not enough time!’ Without any time to think, Tang Yin gritted his teeth.
As he rapidly shot up towards the initial levels of the Abyss Layer, surrounded by the opaque darkness, Tang Yin pointed his right index finger down towards the abyss-like void.
A black strand of hair tied around Tang Yin’s index finger swiftly untangled itself and left his finger. It shot down towards the deeper levels of the Abyss Layer with incredible speed.
Tang Yin had no time to lament over the loss of Tian Huang’s one-time full-powered attack. He unleashed a symphony of skills and techniques from his vast repertoire, harnessing every ounce of speed-enhancing power at his disposal. There was no hesitation as he pushed himself to the limits, leaving nothing in reserve.
Phantom Steps, Ethereal Slaughter Art, Starlight Veil, Abyssal Armour, Abyss Emperor Transformation, all of Tang Yin’s powerful Martial Skills and techniques were activated without hesitation.
Tang Yin sensed the Soul Energy within his Soul Sea being depleted at a rapid rate, however, he could not care less. He had to escape, otherwise, he would die!
BOOOOOM
BANG
BOOOOM
BOOOOOOOM
Deafening explosions, thunderous clashes, and earth-shaking booms reverberated relentlessly from the unfathomable depths of the Abyss Layer. The air crackled with an electric frenzy as if the very fabric of reality strained under the weight of the cataclysmic battles being waged within.
But it was far from a mere cacophony. The cosmic forces clashing at the profound depths of the Abyss Layer unleashed a maelstrom of raw power, sending shockwaves hurtling towards Tang Yin with relentless ferocity.
Even with the numerous active techniques at his disposal, Tang Yin coughed up numerous mouthfuls of blood, all of his techniques were broken and scattered!
The Phantom Steps abruptly ceased their elusive dance, leaving Tang Yin bereft of their elusive grace.
The refined Killing Intent, once embodied by the Ethereal Slaughter Art, receded like a recaptured beast, retreating back into the depths of his being.
The majestic Starlight Veil, once a celestial shield, fragmented into countless shimmering fragments, scattering into the ether and dissipating into nothingness.
The formidable Abyssal Armor, once an impenetrable bastion, shattered into a million irrevocable pieces, its once mighty form forever sundered.
And alas, the potent might of the Abyss Emperor Transformation faltered, broken and inaccessible, its ethereal power beyond Tang Yin’s grasp.
Everything had fallen apart from mere shockwaves!
’This is Peak-stage Law Domain Realm strength! What is that thing, why is it trying to kill me?!’ Tang Yin’s thoughts screamed at him but to no avail.
His body was rapidly breaking down into a fountain of blood, flesh and bones. If it weren’t for Passive Regeneration and the power of Tang Yin’s body, his body would have been obliterated by now.
ROOOOAAARRRR
In a sudden eruption, a dragon’s devastating roar pierced the air. Its sheer might was earth-shattering, capable of reducing even the mightiest cultivators to their very limits. The force behind the roar was overwhelming, pushing the boundaries of comprehension and instilling a bone-chilling sense of awe.
Beyond a mere roar, akin to the preceding shockwaves, Tang Yin sensed an indomitable force surging towards him from the depths of that roar.
’Is this it? Am I really going to die?’ Tang Yin’s eyes turned somewhat blurry with imminent death approaching him.
By now, he had already figured out what that thing trying to kill him was.
According to the jade token given to him by Qian Zhong before he entered the Hectic Chasm Holy Land, every native creature within the Hectic Chasm Holy Land had been wiped out by the Twin Snake Clan, except for a solitary survivor.
The reason why the Twin Snake Clan were unable to wipe out this one creature was simply because it was too powerful. It was a Peak-tier Rank 8 Abyss Dragon! In other words, it was equivalent to a Peak-stage Law Domain Realm cultivator.
But even then, it would be too difficult for a Peak-stage Law Domain Realm cultivator to attempt to slaughter the Abyss Dragon. According to some rumours, it was only half a step away from reaching Rank 9.
It would require the Patriarch of the Twin Snake Clan to personally kill the Abyss Dragon! The Patriarch of the Twin Snake Clan was a Law Creation Realm expert, and also one of the 10 Sovereigns of the Bright Yang Continent.
But there were many problems with this.
Firstly, the battle between the Abyss Dragon and one of the 10 Sovereigns would flatten the Hectic Chasm Holy Land, rendering it a wasteland. It would lose all of its value. What was the point of everything then?
Secondly, a battle between the Abyss Dragon and one of the 10 Sovereigns was enough to destroy several Regions. The loss would be too much just to slaughter a single Demonic Beast.
Thirdly, the Twin Snake Clan Patriarch was one of the 10 Sovereigns of the Bright Yang Continent. He couldn’t just waltz into the Hectic Chasm Holy Land to kill the Abyss Dragon. There were certain procedures that had to take place first.
Lastly, the Twin Snake Clan Patriarch was not interested in killing the Abyss Dragon. Who could possibly force a Law Creation Realm powerhouse to take action?
However, the Twin Snake Clan couldn’t just let the Abyss Dragon have free reign over the Hectic Chasm Holy Land. Otherwise, all of the cultivators sent into the Hectic Chasm Holy Land to cultivate would be killed by it.
Thus, after a long while of negotiation, the Abyss Dragon and the Twin Snake Clan put aside their hatred for one another and came to an agreement.
The Twin Snake Clan would allow the Abyss Dragon to remain in the Hectic Chasm Holy Land and let it do whatever it pleased, but there were 2 conditions to this.
The first condition was that the Abyss Dragon would not be able to leave the Abyss Layer. The second condition was that the Abyss Dragon was not allowed to harm or kill any members of the Twin Snake Clan.
The Abyss Dragon agreed to this, however, it also had a few requirements of its own. It explicitly stated that the Twin Snake Clan were not allowed to disturb it without an extremely good reason. They also weren’t allowed to monitor it or send any powerful cultivators into the Abyss Layer.
There were a few more terms and conditions between the Twin Snake Clan and the Abyss Dragon, but the public only knew the main ones.
Without reassurance from the Twin Snake Clan, who would dare to enter the Hectic Chasm Holy Land when it was inhabited by a Peak-tier Rank 8 Demonic Beast?
