Chapter 302: Lunar Burial
Whilst Chen Piu was too busy dealing with the Void Splitting Slash, Tang Yin utilized the Heaven Deceiving Art to make himself appear as if he was seriously injured.
He did not want to expose his power. And by acting as if the Void Splitting Slash was his full-powered last-ditch effort to kill Chen Piu, he completely sold his story.
Without hesitation, Tang Yin turned around and ’fled’. He had already bought a couple of minutes for Elder Liang and Elder Zi. Battles between high-level cultivators usually transpired for less than a minute. A few minutes should have been sufficient for them to come up with a result.
Tang Yin had 2 plans based on the potential outcome of Elder Liang and Elder Zi’s battles.
If they managed to severely wound the black-cloaked people, he would help out in any way he could without revealing his true abilities.
However, if Elder Liang and Elder Zi were on the brink of death, then he would simply escape and abort the mission. Otherwise, not only would he have to reveal his full power and trump cards, but he would also make an enemy out of Xing Tao, a Law Domain Realm cultivator.
He would much rather use up his chance to fail a mission rather than make an enemy out of a Law Domain Realm cultivator at the moment. Making an enemy out of a Law Domain Realm cultivator would net him more losses than gains, it simply wasn’t worth it.
But for now, he needed to see how the situation had progressed.
Tang Yin’s current location wasn’t far from the Celestial Moon Chariot. Elder Liang and Elder Zi would need to use their full power to fight off the black-cloaked people. As such, they didn’t have the luxury to observe his battle with Chen Piu with their divine senses.
By ’anxiously’ fleeing as quickly as he could, he ’miraculously’ made it back to the Celestial Moon Chariot’s location in half a minute.
Chen Piu had tried to attack Tang Yin during the chase, but Tang Yin somehow managed to evade his attacks in his injured condition. Due to anger, before he even knew it, they were back in the Celestial Moon Chariot’s location.
His anger was gone with the wind, replaced by a cruel smile.
"Idiot. Of all the places to flee, you decided to go to the most dangerous place. Let’s see how you escape now!" Chen Piu shouted sinisterly.
"Really?" Tang Yin said with a snicker.
Chen Piu was confused for a moment. But once he scanned his gaze across the area, his expression darkened.
5 Spirit Ascension Realm cultivators were nowhere to be found, with only 1 remaining. And even then, he was missing 2 limbs and was on the brink of death.
4 of the Principle Comprehension Realm cultivators’ corroded corpses were on the ground, clearly brutally killed.
The other 2 Principle Comprehension Realm cultivators were still in fighting condition, but they had sustained injuries of various extents.
Of the 2 Early-stage Principle Manipulation Realm cultivators, only 1 remained. He wasn’t too badly injured.
As for the Late-stage Principle Manipulation Realm cultivator, he was seriously injured. It was only a matter of time before Elder Liang disposed of him.
Elder Zi was seriously injured, just barely able to hold back the 2 Principle Comprehension Realm cultivators and the Early-stage Principle Manipulation Realm cultivator from approaching the Celestial Moon Chariot.
Elder Liang was also quite injured, but not as much as the opposing Late-stage Principle Manipulation Realm cultivator. Overall, things seemed balanced without Chen Piu and Tang Yin’s presence.
As for the Celestial Moon Chariot, it was still in one piece. However, the Array Formation carved into it was already destroyed. It seemed that it had been attacked by the black-cloaked Principle Manipulation Realm cultivators multiple times.
Naturally, everyone had noticed Tang Yin and Chen Piu’s return. Elder Liang and Elder Zi’s expressions turned darker, whilst the black-cloaked people were almost cheering.
Tang Yin was ’seriously injured’, whilst Chen Piu was practically unharmed. There was not much Tang Yin could do in his condition. Whereas Chen Piu’s presence could easily change the tide of battle.
Realising this, Elder Zi’s eyes shone with resolution.
"No harm must befall Lady Yun! Die for this old man!!" Elder Zi yelled with ferociousness. His body swiftly exploded into a blood mist. The blood mist then condensed to form a blood moon.
"That’s his Blood Moon Sacrifice technique! Hurry and escape!" The Late-stage Principle Manipulation Realm cultivator shouted at the Early-stage Principle Manipulation Realm cultivator and the Principle Comprehension Realm cultivators.
Unfortunately, or fortunately, it was too late.
The blood moon shone with a demonic light, it rapidly expanded to encompass the Early-stage Principle Manipulation Realm cultivator, the 2 Principle Comprehension Realm cultivators and even the sole Spirit Ascension Realm cultivator. None of them were quick enough to escape the blood moon’s clutches.
Screams of fear and terror resounded from the blood moon. After a few seconds, the screams faded, leaving only deathly silence behind. The blood moon then dissolved and faded out of existence.
"Fuck!" The black-cloaked Late-stage Principle Manipulation Realm cultivator cursed.
Elder Liang’s eyes shone with madness. He took the opportunity provided by Elder Zi’s sacrifice to deal even more damage to the opponents.
"Lunar Burial!" Elder Liang raised his arm, and a crystalline white half-moon manifested above his head.
The black-cloaked Late-stage Principle Manipulation Realm cultivator and Chen Piu’s expressions both changed drastically.
"Quick, stop him!" The Late-stage Principle Manipulation Realm cultivator shouted with terror.
Chen Piu completely ignored Tang Yin, he rushed towards the black-cloaked Late-stage Principle Manipulation Realm cultivator’s aid.
However, Tang Yin did not ignore him. ’Soul Dart.’
He condensed an extremely small Soul Dart with his divine sense and sent it towards Chen Piu. Its speed was astonishing, Chen Piu had no choice but to use all his attention to block the Soul Dart as it was too quick.
In the time Chen Piu used to block the Soul Dart, Elder Liang’s Lunar Burial had already commenced.
Numerous white crystalline beams of light shout out of the half-moon above Elder Liang’s head. They moved at a speed quicker than lightning.
The black-cloaked Late-stage Principle Manipulation Realm cultivator tried to conjure up as many layers of defence as he could in a panic. He used 2 Martial Skills and two Tier 4 Artifacts. However, he knew that this was not enough, he had heard of the infamous Lunar Burial.
2 crystalline white beams of light shot into one of the Tier 4 Artifacts, decimating it in the process.
Another 3 crystalline white beams of light shot out from the half moon above Elder Liang’s head, swiftly shooting into the other Tier 4 Artifact. Likewise, the Artifact was completely corroded and destroyed.
Before the black-cloaked Late-stage Principle Manipulation Realm cultivator could even react, 10 crystalline white beams of light directly shot into his erected Martial Skills. The 2 Martial Skills were instantly obliterated.
2 of the white beams of light still had some power remaining, they continued past the scattering Martial Skills, piercing into the black-cloaked cultivator’s head and abdomen respectively. The black-cloaked Late-stage Principle Manipulation Realm cultivator had died!
Elder Liang’s body had atrophied to a terrifying degree. It was not an understatement to say that he was just a skeleton with barely any traces of flesh left. But the light in his eyes did not dimmish, it only intensified.
He glared at Chen Piu, ready to attack.
Chen Piu was scared out of his wits. Not only had he heard of the terrifying Lunar Burial before, but he had also just witnessed it kill his partner. He knew how much Xu Yun’s family doted on her. He did not believe for a second that Elder Liang would not sacrifice his life to kill him.
Chen Piu rushed towards Elder Liang as if he did not care about his life. However, in the next instance, he took a 360 turn and fled. It was just a bluff.
Tang Yin and Elder Liang observed Chen Piu run for his life with their divine senses. Their goal was to get to the Thousand Blossom Pavilion, not chase after Xing Tao’s subordinates. Besides, neither of them was in a condition to do so.
Once Tang Yin and Elder Liang determined that Chen Piu had truly fled without any intention of returning, they heaved collective sighs of relief.
Elder Liang immediately lost consciousness, plummeting from the sky.
The Celestial Moon Chariot’s door opened before Xu Yun dashed out to grab Elder Liang’s unconscious body. As a Spirit Ascension Realm cultivator, she could fly.
"Uncle! Please don’t die!" Her eyes became watery. "You lowly servant, come here, do something!" She turned her attention to Tang Yin and spoke with a commanding voice.
Tang Yin ignored Xu Yun’s order and approached Elder Liang’s body. After observing his body with his divine sense, he determined that Elder Liang was still alive.
He was not in any danger yet. He had simply sacrificed too much of his blood essence to cast Lunar Burial. With enough time, he could recover.
But time was a luxury they did not have, they needed to cross 4 more Regions before arriving at the Thousand Blossom Pavilion. Not to mention, they needed to guard against Demonic Beasts and the possible return of Chen Piu.
