Chapter 223: Target: Old Rogue Cultivator

After obtaining the information he needed, Tang Yin’s next goal was to increase his cultivation. He wanted to reach the 6th stage of the Qi Transformation Realm before going into isolation to do a few things.

Tang Yin’s sixth Spirit Flame was already near completion. He only needed the Spirit Flame of one more Qi Transformation Realm cultivator to thoroughly complete it and reach the 6th stage.

There were a few Qi Transformation Realm cultivators in the memory of the middle-aged man and the youthful cultivator. But they were all part of some Demonic Sect or organization.

Normally, Tang Yin would not have any qualms about destroying a sect. However, he only needed to kill 1 Qi Transformation Realm cultivator. Not a group of them.

Destroying a sect would bring attention to him, whilst killing a rogue Qi Transformation Realm cultivator would most likely be neglected by everyone.

Tang Yin decided to spend a few days searching for a rogue Qi Transformation Realm cultivator. If he could not find any, he would have to resort to annihilating a Rank 3 Demonic Sect.

Tang Yin’s method of searching for a rogue Qi Transformation Realm cultivator was unorthodox but very efficient. He would Soul Plunder any and all cultivators he encountered before swiftly devouring them and leaving behind no traces.

Not only did his knowledge regarding the Demon Accretion Region increase, but his understanding of the Demonic Sects and organizations in the Region also increased hugely. He also formed impressions of the powerful cultivators in the Demon Accretion Region which he should be aware of.

His ruthless method of extracting information was successful in the end. He found a rogue Qi Transformation Realm cultivator in the memories of one of the cultivators he killed and devoured.

This rogue cultivator was quite low-key. Tang Yin would not have found out about him if he did not Soul Plunder and Devour his disciple.

The rogue cultivator was an 8th-stage Qi Transformation Realm cultivator who resided in a secluded mountain range which was overlooked by almost everyone.

He was also an old man who was nearing the end of his life and had thus taken in a disciple to pass on his legacy. Unfortunately, Tang Yin had devoured that only disciple.

Tang Yin did not care though, he would send the old man to meet his precious disciple soon.

The mountain range where the old rogue cultivator resided did not have a name. This just went to show how unnoticed and overlooked the mountain range was.

The mountain range was not far from Tang Yin at all. It would only take 2 days to arrive in the mountain range.

According to the old man’s disciple’s memory, the old man used to be a famous Demonic Cultivator, but for some reason, he was forced to go into hiding. As such, his name was slowly forgotten in the river of time.

Thinking about all of the information he had gathered about the old man from his disciple, Tang Yin frowned slightly. All of the information pointed towards the old rogue cultivator being extremely powerful and being able to fight cultivators above his cultivation.

However, this was only enough to make him frown. Even Chen Dao Xin was not able to kill him, a mere 8th-stage Qi Transformation Realm rogue cultivator would not be able to do much. At worst, the old man would possess a method to escape from his clutches.

Nevertheless, Tang Yin never let down his guard or underestimated his foe. He would fight with his full power to gain victory.

2 days flowed by quickly.

Tang Yin arrived at the mountain range where the old rogue cultivator resided. The mountain range was quite unremarkable. It did not have even an ounce of Qi within.

Using the Heaven Piercing Gaze, a smile appeared on Tang Yin’s face.

He saw an illusion Array Formation of the 6th Tier placed on a specific part of the mountain range.

From what he knew about Array Formations and his personal experience with them, he could tell that it was a single-purpose Array Formation made for illusions. Anyone below the Spirit Ascension Realm would be unable to see through it unless they possessed a special method like Tang Yin’s Heaven Piercing Gaze.

The Array Formation focused solely on illusion, its other aspects such as defence and attack were extremely weak and almost non-existent. Even a Spirit Vein Condensation Realm could break the Array Formation with little effort if they discovered it.

The illusion Array Formation was placed down before a cave entrance. Clearly, it was used to hide the cave abode of a cultivator.

This cultivator was obviously the old rogue cultivator Tang Yin was here to kill.

Tang Yin did not bother with any formalities, he charged straight towards the illusion Array Formation.

Tang Yin waved his arm and heaps of crimson fog surged towards the illusion Array Formation.

The illusion Array Formation naturally could not withstand the attack of a Tier 4 Martial Skill, it swiftly shattered. The illusion of the Array Formation was destroyed, and the entrance of a cave abode appeared from behind the illusion.

An alarmed, aged voice travelled forth from the cave, followed by an old man.

The old man had long white hair which was partially tied up into a small bun. His face was full of wrinkles and old age along with an ugly expression.

"Fellow Cultivator, who are you?" The old man spoke in a domineering tone. The faint aura of an 8th-stage Qi Transformation Realm cultivation base burst forth from the old man’s body. It was already quite surprising that he was not speaking in an angry voice despite Tang Yin having destroyed his illusion Array Formation.

Tang Yin did not respond. He controlled his refined Killing Intent to attack the old man.

A dark expression was present on the old man’s face, he could not recall offending anyone recently.

Nevertheless, he did not have any time to think as the crimson fog closed in on him. He lifted his hand and made a seal. "Water Barricade"

Water appeared out of thin before the old man, there was a large quantity of it. The water started to revolve and compress around the old man, protecting him from all angles.

The refined Killing Intent jabbed at the Water Barricade from all directions, unable to penetrate its thick quantity.

Tang Yin also made a hand seal with his right hand, the refined Killing Intent took the form of a spear with a sharp tip and focused all of its power in one area.

This move was effective as the Water Barricade was pierced through. However, the refined Killing Intent had used most of its power to break through and only a fraction of its power was left.

The old man effortlessly fended off the remaining refined Killing Intent.

Tang Yin remained calm though. He did not expect any results from his first attack.

Once the old man reappeared from his Water Barricade, a solemn expression appeared on his face. "Although I’m old, that doesn’t mean I have degraded. Hundred Water Replicas!"

With a ferocious bark, the old man raised his arms. A vortex of water appeared out of nowhere and drowned the surrounding radius of 100 feet. Numerous figures formed from water appeared from the vortex of water. There were a hundred of them. Each one had the strength of a Physique Transformation Realm cultivator.

Tang Yin waved his hands, "Void Chains."

Numerous metallic black chains appeared from the void. Each chain bound a water clone.

With Tang Yin’s current cultivation, his Void Chains were powerful enough to bind even peak Qi Transformation Realm cultivators, let alone mere water clones.

With the devouring abilities of the Void Chains, the water clone’s strength was sapped and absorbed by the Void Chains to strengthen themselves.

The hundreds of water clones turned to smoke and evaporated into thin air.

The now strengthened Void Chains dashed into the water vortex. There were hundreds of them, they instantly wrapped around the whole water vortex, rapidly sapping away at its strength and size.

Within a few moments, the water vortex was reduced to less than half of its original size.

An angry roar filled with disbelief came from the water vortex. "What kind of demonic skill is this?"

A blue arc shot out from the eye of the water vortex and flew into the air, it was revealed to be the old man.

A grave expression was on his face, but there was no panic or the intention to retreat in his heart. The old man brought out an item from his storage ring. Upon closer look, Tang Yin saw that it was... a corpse.

Or to be more accurate, it was a corpse which had been refined into a living dead puppet. The weak aura of the 1st stage Qi Transformation Realm was being emitted by the corpse puppet.

"Is this where your confidence lies?" Tang Yin spoke for the first time, his voice was filled with mockery and scorn.

A feeling of unease crept into the old man’s heart, but he ignored this feeling. He instead controlled the corpse puppet to charge towards Tang Yin.

The numerous Void Chains which had been strengthened once again by devouring the water vortex all shuffled. They sprung forward towards the corpse puppet from all directions, leaving it no space to dodge or retreat.

Within an instant, the Void Chains enveloped the corpse puppet. It was completely drowned under the Void Chains, not a single part of it was visible.

The old man still had a confident smile on his face. He gazed at the bundle of Void Chain with anticipation, Tang Yin was also the same. Both of them believed that their method of attack would be successful. However, one of them was bound to be disappointed as only one of them could come out triumphant.
