Chapter 153: Puppet

Each cultivator took a space of around 500 feet to itself. Only Scattered Soul Daoist took more than 1,000 feet. He was after all a Spirit Ascension Realm cultivator.

The area around the 30 feet large Array Formation at the centre of the Shadow Puppet Hall was empty.

Once everyone was in position, Tian Huang looked at the Array Formation, a golden light swirled in his eyes.

The Array Formation lit up, drawing everyone’s attention.

The next moment, white light flashed continuously, and multiple figures appeared from them. The figures were identical to humans except for the fact that their eyes and expression were devoid of life. They were human-shaped puppets.

The aura of the Qi Transformation Realm burst forth from their bodies. There was even a puppet exuding the aura of Early-stage Spirit Ascension Realm cultivation.

Once the puppets appeared, they each charged towards a cultivator with the same cultivation as them.

A 1st stage Qi Transformation Realm puppet headed in the direction of Tang Yin. There was a lifeless look in its human eyes, and it cut through the air in a dramatic fashion without any wings, it was levitating.

Likewise, Scattered Soul Daoist was faced with the Spirit Ascension Realm puppet. All the other cultivators wore bleak expressions as they got ready to face puppets with similar strength to themselves.

Tang Yin was relatively calm, he was confident in his strength. This trial was perfect to test the power of his physical body and cultivation.

As soon as the puppet arrived, it attacked without any delay. It did not cast any skills to attack. Instead, its hand warped, twisted and turned before taking the shape of a longsword.

The longsword attached to the arm of the puppet was dripping with a corrosive purple liquid.

’Poison...’ Tang Yin thought as he looked at the purple liquid dripping from the longsword. The drops of purple liquid that fell to the floor made sizzling sounds upon contact.

The puppet wielding the longsword swooped towards Tang Yin, it slashed forward without any mercy.

Tang Yin avoided the puppet, black lightning trailed behind him as he dodged the attack. He was using the first style of Lightning Movement, Black Zoom.

The puppet was relentless, it continued to chase after Tang Yin while baring the poisonous longsword.

Although Tang Yin was strong, the poison would still present a problem to his strong physical body.

After opening a large enough space between himself and the puppet, Tang Yin pointed at the puppet and cast a Martial Skill, ’Void Chains.’

The space around the puppet distorted, numerous black metallic chains appeared from the void to bind the puppet.

The puppet was not a living being. Therefore, the Void Chains could not absorb any of its vitality since there was nothing to Devour. It could only immobilize its opponent.

However, this was enough for Tang Yin. The Abyssal Sword took form in his hand, and he shot numerous black sword energies towards the immobilized puppet. The sword energies were all fuelled by the superior version of Abyss Qi. Therefore, its strength was several tens of times more powerful than before.

The sword energies were also much faster than before and radiated a devilish air which could strike fear into any being.

Within an instant, the multiple black sword energies shot from the Abyssal Sword collided with the puppet.

The sound of metal grating against metal rang out.

The puppet’s arm which was shaped in the form of a longsword was amputated. It fell to the ground. Its leg was also chopped off which descended to the ground.

There were multiple torn components on the puppet which were visible to the naked eye. It was similar to how a cultivator’s organs and inner flesh would be revealed after their skin was ripped open.

Nevertheless, the puppet was not dysfunctional yet. There was a blue orb at the centre of its chest which was shining with a bright light. This was its core and also the most important component in its body which would need to be destroyed to disable and stop the puppet from functioning.

The void chains could not restrict the puppet anymore, they swiftly shattered and disappeared back into the void.

The puppet once again charged towards Tang Yin, this time the puppet’s other arm turned into a longsword. However, it was not dripping with poison, it was instead engraved with a layer of runic symbols which coated the longsword in a sheet of Spirit Qi.

Even with Tang Yin’s physique, he would be gravely injured if he was stabbed with the longsword.
