Chapter 138: First Trial: Heaven Ascending Peak
The male figure’s gaze left Tang Yin and moved on to all of the cultivators, he then languidly announced, "I am Tian Huang. Whether you have entered the Tides of Chaos willingly or not, you shall undertake the trials I have created to see if you are fated to receive my inheritance."
"You cannot leave this place unless you have met a certain standard. Those who do not meet this standard will be turned into nourishment for my Tempest Palace."
"Any killing or conflict is prohibited, if any one of you decides to attack another, I will personally kill you."
"There are 5 trials you must undertake, if you fail any single one without meeting a certain standard, you will be killed and absorbed as sustenance for my Tempest Palace."
"Only humans are eligible to participate in the trials for my inheritance." When Tian Huang said this, he sent a faint glance to Tang Yin. Tang Yin instantly realised that this was the reason for the earlier profound look received from Tian Huang earlier. He let out a sigh of relief in his heart.
"When I disappear, the gates of the Tempest Palace will open. Enter the palace to undertake the trials." Once Tian Huang said his last string of words, he slowly scattered as golden light. The golden light flowed into the gates of the Tempest Palace. With a rumble, the palace gates slowly opened.
With endless shock and grimness, Tang Yin glared at the opening of the Tempest Palace. Never would he have thought that the Tides of Chaos led to the inheritance of a powerful being.
Every cultivator on the platform had neutral expressions whilst they harboured intricate feelings inside. Only the tall, brutish man was filled with excitement, he did not try to hide it.
It did not take long for the gates of the Tempest Palace to fully open, when it did so, all cultivators on the platform turned into arcs of various colours and flew towards the entrance.
The tall, brutish man was a Spirit Vein Condensation Realm cultivator, he could not fly. But he had another method at his disposal. He brought out a red shuttle from his storage ring, it was a flight Artifact.
The red shuttle grew larger in size until it grew to 15 feet large, the tall, brutish man jumped onto the shuttle and controlled it to move towards the entrance of the Tempest Palace.
Tang Yin looked at all of this and let out a wry smile, he did not have a method to fly without Xiao Fei.
When every cultivator entered the Tempest Palace, only Tang Yin and Xiao Fei were left on the platform. Xiao Fei transformed into her Demonic Beast form and flew Tang Yin to the Tempest Palace.
When Tang Yin reached the entrance, Xiao Fei turned into a black arc which flew into the Azure Luan Pouch. Tang Yin leapt into the Tempest Palace.
When Tang Yin entered the Tempest Palace, he looked at his surroundings in shock. The inside of the palace was not what he had expected at all. It could not even be considered the interior of a palace.
Tang Yin was situated before a colossal mountain. The mountain was so large that its end could not be seen. There were an innumerable number of steps on the mountain. Each step had a number on it, the numbers corresponded to its step.
Around Tang Yin were the other Qi Transformation Realm cultivators, Scattered Soul Daoist and the tall, brutish man. They were also looking at the mountain in shock, only Scattered Soul Daoist seemed calm.
Before anyone could snap out of their shock, a bright golden flare appeared in the air before the mountain and the cultivators. The golden flare condensed to create a youthful male, it was Tian Huang.
Tian Huang still had an aloof and indifferent expression, he gave everyone a cursory glance before stating, "This is the Heaven Ascending Peak, it is also where the first trial will take place. There are 1,000 steps on this mountain, each step is labelled with a number individually."
"With each step you take on the mountain, the pressure will increase slightly. Your cultivation bases are irrelevant to this trial, even you two have a chance at reaching the peak." Tian Huang looked at Tang Yin and the tall, brutish man when he uttered the last sentence.
"The first trial is to test your willpower. You can be considered to have passed the first trial once you have reached the 800th step. If you collapse before reaching the 600th step, you will be eliminated... permanently." Tian Huang especially put emphasis on the word ’permanently’. This placed an invisible pressure on everyone’s hearts.
"If you collapse in between the 600th step and the 800th step, then although you will have failed, I will allow you to keep your life and leave this place empty-handed. If any one of you manages to reach the 1000th step, then I shall grant you a serendipity."
"There is no time limit, you may begin." Tian Huang announced, then he sat down mid-air and looked at all of the cultivators as if they were just his toys and a source of entertainment.
