Chapter 411: Chapter 411: You Can All Stay

The members of the monitoring squad looked down the street and saw a dense, seemingly endless horde of zombies.

With their view obstructed by buildings, they couldn’t determine the total number of zombies, but based on what they could see alone, they estimated the number already exceeded five or six thousand.

Including the ones obscured by buildings, the total number of zombies could easily surpass ten thousand, perhaps even more.

Without a doubt, this was a zombie horde.

Even though only one person on the monitoring squad had personally experienced the threat of a zombie horde, the others, no matter how green they were, knew just how terrifying it could be.

"How did a zombie horde just suddenly form out of nowhere?" one of them said in shock.

"Is this really the time to be worrying about that? We need to get back and report this immediately," another person urged.

"Wait, look!" a sharp-eyed squad member suddenly exclaimed, pointing into the distance. "Isn’t that a figure at the front of the horde?"

At his reminder, the others all turned to look.

And sure enough, they saw it: a lone figure at the very front of the horde.

The figure would sometimes run ahead of the horde, and at other times, fall back into it, getting swarmed by countless zombies. Yet, he always managed to break free with ease.

And all the while, he used a long spear to run through the bodies of one zombie after another, making them bleed profusely.

But because these zombies had immense Life Force, a pierced torso wasn’t a fatal blow like a headshot. It had little effect other than to drive them into an even greater frenzy.

Meanwhile, the blood they shed constantly lured the rest of the horde forward.

"He... he must be Lin Xinghai."

"My God! He intentionally started a zombie horde. He’s a madman. An absolute madman."

"Let’s go! We have to get back and report this!" After witnessing this, the squad members, who were no fools, immediately understood the situation.

As he continued to lure the zombie horde forward, Lin Xinghai looked up at the few figures flying away in the distance. ’Looks like I’ve been discovered,’ he thought. ’But it’s too late.’

Lin Xinghai mentally calculated the distance. He was only about 2.5 kilometers away from Yan Feijie’s group.

According to Lin Xinghai’s plan, as long as he could approach within three kilometers undetected, he was confident he could trap them in the horde’s embrace.

His figure flashed as he dove back into the horde, punching bloody holes into the dozen or so High Level Zombies that had just caught up and were still uninjured.

As they went into a frenzy, Lin Xinghai’s figure flickered, and in an instant, he was out of the horde and picking up speed.

Until now, he had been deliberately controlling his Speed while luring the horde. After all, the Ordinary and Intermediate Zombies simply couldn’t keep up with the High Level ones.

That was why he would occasionally let himself get bogged down in the horde, allowing the High Level Zombies to swarm him in order to control their pace.

But now that he’d been spotted, he couldn’t afford to continue at a leisurely pace. Otherwise, by the time he led the zombie army to the target, they would have vanished without a trace.

Now, he had to lead the High Level Zombies ahead to pin them down and slow their escape.

The moment Lin Xinghai accelerated, the High Level Zombies—already attacked multiple times and goaded into a furious rage—all charged forward wildly.

The once-dense zombie horde gradually stretched out into a long, snaking line. As the High Level Zombies sped up, the gap between them and the rest of the horde only grew wider.

Lin Xinghai wasn’t worried about the main zombie army keeping up, though.

Because as long as he kept the High Level Zombies at the front bleeding, the ones behind would naturally follow the "trail of blood."

Of course, Lin Xinghai knew that this alone wouldn’t be enough.

The Speed of a High Level Zombie was, in fact, not much different from that of the candidates who had broken all Three Genetic Locks.

If he wanted to ensure they were caught by the horde, he would have to go ahead personally and slow them down.

Soon, Lin Xinghai went full throttle, disappearing from the zombies’ sight in the blink of an eye.

However, the High Level Zombies continued their mad pursuit. Every hundred meters or so along the road ahead, a fresh, bloody zombie corpse lay waiting, luring them onward.

In this way, Lin Xinghai used zombie corpses to keep the High Level Zombies at the vanguard of the horde moving forward.

The blood streaming from these High Level Zombies, in turn, would continuously draw the massive horde following behind.

Although this method—constantly killing zombies to "pave the way"—was a bit of a hassle, moving at full Speed was still much faster than personally leading the horde.

...

Meanwhile, after discovering that Lin Xinghai had triggered the zombie horde, the monitoring squad immediately flew back at top speed.

When they returned to the main group’s gathering point, they found it was already crowded with people, all of them looking tense.

It was to be expected. In the time it took them to fly there and back, the zombie horde had rapidly closed in. The High Level Zombies charging at the vanguard were now less than two kilometers away.

Even from this distance, the sound of the zombies’ roars was growing louder and louder.
