Chapter 425: Chapter 421: Unicorn Wild Boar
Tu Xiao’an didn’t stick around to watch because he had absolute confidence in his Three-headed Snake. Level isn’t everything.
Given the Three-headed Snake’s bloodline and combat prowess, only a Snake Species above Level 25 could stand a chance against it.
That Two-headed Black Flood Dragon was decent, but it couldn’t compare to Tu Xiao’an’s Three-headed Snake in the slightest.
They were still far from the central region of the Yaoling Mountain Range, but he could still sense the auras of Rank Two Spirit Monsters from time to time. However, they were still very, very far from the Azure Bamboo Forest that the Bull Demon King had mentioned.
At a normal pace, it would take at least ten days to get there.
Originally, Tu Xiao’an had planned to use his unconditional subjugation ability on one of the five great Demon Kings—the White Demon King. But now things were a bit awkward; he had already used it.
So now, if he were to face the White Demon King, he would have basically no chance. But this was also a challenge, one that forced Tu Xiao’an to first attain his own Dao.
Once he attained his Dao, he would have the courage to take on even a Demon King. Besides, it wasn’t as if he had to fight the White Demon King to the death. His goal was to save someone.
As he continued deeper, RUSTLING sounds came from the bushes from time to time. Tu Xiao’an didn’t care what Awakened Creatures were hiding inside. He casually sent a dozen bolts of Thunder crashing down. The creature’s aura vanished, and another sum of Evolutionary Energy was his.
During this time, Tu Xiao’an released his Azure Owl Golden Pupils, letting them find their own direction to explore. Though the Yaoling Mountain Range was fraught with danger, it was also an excellent training ground to hone one’s strength.
They all possessed bloodlines with the potential to soar to the heavens; the rest was up to their own efforts.
He believed their Levels would rise rapidly in the Yaoling Mountain Range.
Tu Xiao’an couldn’t protect them every step of the way. He also needed to improve his own strength, Devour creatures, and gain Evolutionary Energy.
He was looking for Rank Three Demon Spirits. Only by Devouring Rank Three Demon Spirits could he obtain large amounts of Evolutionary Energy. Tu Xiao’an had already made up his mind: unless he encountered a particularly remarkable Demon Spirit, he wouldn’t choose to subjugate it.
Attaining his Dao first was what mattered most.
As they walked, the Bull Demon King hummed a pleasant little tune at his side. Tu Xiao’an asked, "Are there any Rank Three Demon Spirits in this area?"
The Bull Demon King thought for a moment and said, "Master, I’ve been away from the Yaoling Mountain Range for a long time. However, many of the great mountains are ruled by a dominant Demon Spirit. About two hundred kilometers ahead, there’s a large mountain where a Demon Spirit that attained its Dao many years ago has established its own kingdom."
"What kind of Demon is it?" Tu Xiao’an’s eyes lit up.
The Bull Demon King answered immediately, "It’s an Ape. He leads the Monkey Race, and that entire mountain is crawling with monkeys. You could say it’s the single greatest power below the Demon Kings."
"But Master, that Ape is not to be trifled with. He has a terrible temper and is frighteningly strong," the Bull Demon King said awkwardly.
’The stronger it is, the more Evolutionary Energy I’ll get.’ Tu Xiao’an smiled. "How does he compare to you?"
"A tiny bit stronger than me," the Bull Demon King said, his eyes darting about.
"Just a tiny bit?"
"Haha... more or less, more or less." The Bull Demon King was being evasive, clearly not wanting to dwell on the issue. "Master, let me tell you a little rumor I heard. They say that eating that Ape’s brain can increase your lifespan by three hundred years."
Tu Xiao’an was taken aback. ’Damn... is this Tang Monk’s Flesh or something?’
’Eating an ape’s brain sounds a little gruesome, but to someone like me, it’s nothing special.’
"Also, the Monkey Race makes a type of Monkey Wine that’s famous far and wide. It’s practically divine nectar!" the Bull Demon King said, his eyes glinting with greed. "A single sip leaves an unforgettable aftertaste and can even increase your strength. Even Demon Kings have to pay a fortune for it. And it’s not something you can buy just because you have the money! Those damn monkeys treat the wine like a family heirloom and won’t even drink it themselves. They only show some respect and part with a little when a Demon King comes calling. Anyone else can just forget about it."
Tu Xiao’an asked curiously, "You seem to know a lot about it. Have you had some before?"
"I’m not one to brag, but back when I served the White Demon King, I accomplished a minor deed for him. His Majesty was in a good mood and rewarded me with a cup."
"But I’ve savored the memory of that single cup my entire life."
The Bull Demon King grew more and more excited. "Master, you’re so monstrously powerful! Why don’t you go subjugate that Ape and make him your Battle Companion? Then all of their Monkey Wine would be ours!"
"So after all that talk, it turns out you’re just after their Monkey Wine," Tu Xiao’an said, shooting him a glare. ’This bull is quite the schemer.’
The Bull Demon King quickly added, "Master, that Ape King’s strength is truly incredible. I’m just worried you might not be able to handle him."
"Don’t try to goad me. I just want to know if that mountain is on our way."
"It is! It is! It’s damn well on our way!"
Tu Xiao’an thought for a moment. "Then we’ll check it out on the way."
"A brilliant decision, Master!" An image surfaced in the Bull Demon King’s mind: him being brutally beaten by an Ape many years ago.
After that, Tu Xiao’an and the Bull Demon King headed toward the mountain on foot, grinding monsters for experience along the way. His Evolutionary Energy had now surpassed the forty-thousand mark.
Although he hadn’t yet encountered any creatures of the Demon Spirit Level, he had already killed a good number of Spirit Monsters.
As they were walking, a rather majestic tree up ahead suddenly snapped and came crashing down toward Tu Xiao’an, completely out of the blue.
Tu Xiao’an didn’t move. The Bull Demon King was there to protect him. The demon king threw his Iron Fist at the falling tree, which instantly exploded and shattered.
Immediately, Tu Xiao’an spotted a massive wild boar next to the broken tree. It was three or four times larger than an ordinary pig, almost the size of an elephant. Interestingly, it had a sharp, jet-black horn on its head. The boar was also covered in thick hair, but this was no ordinary fur—it was like a coat of steel needles, sharp enough to pierce flesh.
It looked like the ultimate fighting machine among pigs—incredibly ferocious.
"Damn, so it was just a Unicorn Boar. Scared me for a second, I thought we were under attack," the Bull Demon King explained. "Master, this type of Unicorn Boar charges at large trees to make its horn sharper and tougher. It looks pointless, I know, but it wasn’t trying to attack us."
Tu Xiao’an grunted in understanding, then said nonchalantly, "So, does that count as destruction of vegetation?"
The Bull Demon King froze. ’What the hell kind of logic is that? How did his mind even go there?’
"Master, this Unicorn Boar is a Spirit Monster. Its meat is supposed to be delicious. Let me catch it for you for lunch."
Tu Xiao’an shook his head. "No need. I’ll do it myself."
’If the Bull Demon King kills it, I won’t get the Evolutionary Energy.’
"ROAR..."
The Unicorn Boar had now noticed the two figures standing before it. It let out a guttural roar, instantly on alert.
Tu Xiao’an grinned and gave the Unicorn Boar a little wave, a wicked smile spreading across his face.
The Unicorn Boar took this as a provocation and instantly flew into a rage. Tossing all caution to the wind, it lowered its sharp horn and charged ferociously at Tu Xiao’an.
The sight was more terrifying than a truck barreling straight for you.
’Sigh, a pig is still a pig. Even after becoming a Rank Two Spirit Monster, its intelligence hasn’t improved much.’
Tu Xiao’an’s eyes narrowed. A thick bolt of Thunder crashed directly onto the Unicorn Boar, blasting it into a stunned daze.
’Burn.’
With a wave of Tu Xiao’an’s hand, a ball of Flame instantly enveloped the Unicorn Boar, which began to burn in the Blazing Fire.
Suddenly, a miserable, bloodcurdling squeal echoed through the air.
"We’ll be having roast pork soon," Tu Xiao’an chuckled. ’Elemental Abilities are just so convenient.’
