Chapter 50: 50 | Thunder & Flames

Dexter slowly exhaled a breath of hot air. Then, his thoughts drifted toward the special rewards he had obtained from killing the assassins earlier. More specifically—their talents.

Two distinct talents had been forcefully extracted from the assassins’ bodies after their deaths by the system.

The first was: [C-Rank Talent: Thunder Manipulation]

The second was: [C-Rank Talent: Golden Flame Manipulation]

Both were pure, highly destructive offensive talents. They were true combat abilities.

Dexter couldn’t hide the bright excitement shining in his eyes.

Until now, almost every single talent he possessed had been purely supportive in nature. They were very useful abilities, certainly. But they did not help him kill his enemies quickly.

But these... these were true deadly talents.

With Thunder Manipulation and Golden Flame Manipulation added to his personal arsenal, Dexter estimated that his overall combat strength could easily rise by another entire major level.

Combined with the brutal, violent nature of his Ancient Flame Demon Bloodline, his full destructive power might even threaten Eleventh Stage or Twelfth Stage Superhuman Heroes.

The thought was completely exhilarating. Finally, he possessed heavy attack methods that were truly worthy of his growing strength.

After calming his wild excitement down slightly, Dexter shifted his attention toward his remaining system rewards. More specifically, the legendary Heavenly Treasures.

One after another, the magical names appeared floating in golden text before him.

* [Origin Sun Fruit]

* [Star Essence Serum]

* [Heavenly Marrow Cleansing Capsule]

* [Millennium Blood Ginseng]

* [Void Spirit Lotus]

Even Dexter couldn’t help inhaling sharply. His eyes went wide.

Each and every one of these rare treasures was worth an absolute fortune. Any single one of them would be more than enough to trigger a bloody gang war among ordinary heroes in the city.

Naturally, he wanted to give all of them directly to the girls.

However... doing so directly would create far too many dangerous questions. Where did he get them? How could an ordinary, newly awakened hero who lived in a rundown bungalow afford ancient treasures that even the most wealthy, powerful noble families struggled to obtain?

No. Handing them over directly would be far too suspicious.

Fortunately, he had another, much safer solution. Dexter smiled cleverly.

He was now a Great Grandmaster Foodsmith. If he carefully incorporated these powerful treasures into his daily medicinal meals and cooked them alongside the precious Diamond Rice, the extreme magical effects of the treasures would become much gentler, easier for their weak bodies to absorb, and far less suspicious. The girls would simply assume that his cooking skills were getting better and that the meals themselves were naturally extraordinary.

The more he thought about this cooking plan, the more excited he became. Tomorrow’s morning cooking session suddenly became something he was desperately looking forward to.

His eyes shifted toward his digital bank account balance.

30,000 Credits.

The money Rachel had promised him for the mission had already successfully arrived in his account. Originally, he had chosen to split his mission rewards evenly between pure money and monster Nexus cores. At the time, he strongly believed the Nexus monster cores would be incredibly useful for buying future cultivation resources.

But now... with his overpowered system by his side, basic cultivation resources were no longer something he desperately lacked. If anything, he almost regretted not taking all the reward in raw money instead.

Still, he quickly shrugged his shoulders. If he found the right underground black market channels later, those monsters Nexus core could likely be sold to other heroes for a much higher cash value than their standard official conversion rate. There was absolutely no need to rush to sell them.

His thoughts quickly shifted toward another, very practical matter. Beds.

The three girls were still sleeping squished together on the large, combined mattress in the main bedroom. Meanwhile, he himself still slept on a cheap, noisy air bed.

With this new money, he could finally purchase some proper, comfortable furniture for the house. He would buy three separate, soft beds for the girls, and one proper, sturdy bed for himself. It was a simple, comfortable, and normal plan. The thought of giving them a normal life made him smile slightly.

Fire and Lightning

Finally, Dexter turned his attention inward once more. He focused entirely on his powerful new bloodline.

A deep, crimson light flickered brightly within his pupils. He slowly, deliberately raised his left hand into the air.

Whoosh!

A thick, blood-red flame instantly appeared, hovering two inches above his palm. The room temperature immediately skyrocketed. The crimson fire danced silently in the dark shadows of the room, twisting and turning like a living, breathing creature.

This was his innate Flame Will. More accurately, this was the pure Flame Will of the Ancient Flame Demon Bloodline.

After evolving from Origin Grade up into Ancient Grade, the difference in the fire was simply overwhelming. The flames were much denser. Much hotter. And incredibly violent. Dexter estimated that these new flames were at least three times stronger than the weak flames he possessed before his bloodline evolved.

He stared deeply at the crimson fire quietly. Its dark color perfectly resembled liquid blood mixed heavily with boiling molten lava. It was beautiful, but incredibly deadly.

Then, Dexter lowered his left hand and raised his right hand.

Crackle!

Violent, bright blue lightning instantly exploded around his fingertips. Wild electric arcs danced across his open palm as the quiet air filled with the sharp, cracking sound of thunder.

[C-Rank Talent: Thunder Manipulation]

The blue lightning twisted and coiled rapidly around his right arm like a nest of living, glowing snakes. Dexter couldn’t hide the deep fascination shining in his eyes. He slowly pointed his index finger toward the bedroom wall.

Crack!

A thin streak of bright lightning shot forward through the air.

Boom!

A small, loud explosion echoed through the quiet room. A tiny, smoking hole appeared perfectly in the wall, while dark black soot spread in a circle around the impact point.

Dexter nodded his head in deep satisfaction. The destructive piercing power of the lightning was exactly what he had expected. Perhaps it was even greater.
