Chapter 404: You’re Lucky

Jackson had already anticipated that someone would shoot. He already possessed the information regarding the members of the blood reapers syndicate. And of course, some of them, who were not mutants, usually had guns on them.

For a meeting like this, it was supposed to be where they trusted each other, making it that nobody should carry a weapon.

Unfortunately, this was not the case. At least, they did not have much unity as the Santos family. For the blood reapers syndicate, all that mattered was benefit.

Because of this, some of them were worried that the mutants among them might take action against them. Even though there was a prohibition of mutants acting, especially within the capital, that did not imply that some of them did not act.

Of course, so far, those that had taken action, they had suffered consequences. It seemed that the government had a way of knowing if a mutant had taken action or not.

And after investigating for a while, it was not that difficult to be able to find who was behind it. Thereby, those people would and other being hunted, unless they had left the country.

But even if they had left the country, the governments all over the world currently did not want the exposure of mutants to happen. At least, for now, they still wanted it to be a secret.

Therefore, in case they heard that there was someone who had taken action in public, they would definitely cooperate with the other country in order to deal with that person.

And at the moment, Jackson had already prepared himself for someone to shoot at him. Thereby, despite his actions seeming casual, he was paying attention to the people around him.

By the time that the guy raised his gun, Jackson had already reacted. So, after the trigger was pulled, Jackson had already moved out of the way, and ended up grabbing the hand that was holding the gun.

Not showing mercy, Jackson twisted the hand, and the sound of bones cracking could be heard as the hand was directly broken.

Immediately after breaking the hand, Jackson tugged at the end with tremendous force, suddenly pulling the guy towards him.

But even before the guy could get close to Jackson, he was suddenly thrown towards the other side of the conference table.

The speed at which he was thrown, did not give the target the time to react. He just felt someone suddenly smashing into him.

This person, he was a mutant, with an ability that allowed his palms to be able to emit flames. Even though the flames that could be produced were not very powerful, but if someone was not careful, they could end up being set on fire.

The moment that the guy was smashed into by the guy that had been thrown at him, the two of them collapsed onto the ground.

The mutant felt extremely dizzy, and instinctively activated the ability that he had. He was using the same hands to try and push the body that was pressing him against the ground.

Of course, the consequence of that was the guy above him suddenly being set on flames. At first, the other guy did not react, not understanding what had happened.

But then, he began feeling the flames that were beginning to envelope his body. At that moment, he panicked. He tried to put out the fire by rolling on the ground, ignoring the pain of a broken hand, but that bit not work.

Instead, the flames continuously became bigger, indicating that these flames were not the ordinary type. At least, they were not that easy to be able to put out.

As for the guy who had just set another on fire, he had done the same to himself. Even though it was not done directly, when that guy was above him, some of the flames caught his clothes.

Hence, for a moment, two people could be seen screaming while rolling on the ground, trying to put out the flames that had already began cooking their skin.

Of course, while all of this was happening, nobody was really paying attention to them. Instead, Jackson took action, and one by one, he dealt with the others.

It seemed that in front of Jackson, there was no distinction between ordinary people and mutants. Some mutants were capable of attacking, but none of them managed to land a hit on him.

Amos had thought of escaping. But that idea was extinguished just a few moments after it had appeared. No matter where he ran to, Jackson would be able to get him.

The connections that Jackson had within that organization, it definitely could allow him to be able to get the information on someone like himself.

Additionally, he really was not willing to give up on the blood reapers syndicate. Hence, he thought, after Jackson was done, he would try to negotiate with him.

Even if they have to give half of all the assets possessed by the blood reapers syndicate, it would be worth it as long as he remained alive.

As for what had happened here, Amos understood that there would be consequences. Several mutants had acted, which was completely prohibited.

Even though they had not taken action outside, where they could be seen by the people outside, this was the capital after all. Even if it was secretive, it was not allowed.

Additionally, with all the mutants of the syndicate dying, it was clear that the strength of the syndicate would be greatly diminished. That would be especially after the other forces came to know about this.

Clearly, all those enemies that they had made, including the Santos family, they would all try to get a share of what remained of the blood reapers syndicate.

But even then, Amos was confident that he would be able to ensure that the syndicate survived, despite it not being at the same level as today.

A few minutes later, Jackson finally stopped. At this point, inside the conference room, it was just him and Amos who were alive.

The fire that had been started by one of the mutants had already burned the two of them to death. They caught fire quickly, and in just a few minutes, only bones were left behind.

If not for the fact that the floor was tiled and nothing flammable was there, the entire conference room would have already caught fire. And of course, the flames would have spread, and there was a possibility that this entire building would have been burned down.

Nonetheless, the conference room was currently filled with smoke. There was ventilation and some of the windows were open, but that was not enough to be able to disperse the smoke that had been brought about by the two burning bodies.

Additionally, outside the conference room, a group of people had already gathered. It was just that, none of them had the confidence to enter the conference room, especially after they had been told by Amos to stay away.

With everyone finally dealt with, Amos felt relieved. Since he had not been killed, it was clear that Jackson did not have the intention of killing him.

As for why that was the case, he could not tell. But at least, maybe he still had some use?

Jackson looked at Amos. Even though he had already vented some of his frustration by killing the other members of the syndicate, it was not enough.

Just looking at Amos, he really wanted to smash that head, to send him to the underworld. Unfortunately, he could not do that, as Michael had asked him to allow Amos to live.

"You are lucky, you have more hours or maybe days to live. But let me warn you, don’t even think about escaping. If you try to do that, you will only make your fate worse." Jackson stated.

Immediately after that, he began taking off the jacket that he was wearing, the same with his trousers, completely ignoring the confused Amos.

In just a moment, Jackson no longer had the same clothes that he had been wearing before.

Then, using one of the clothes that he had taken off, he tore a piece, before using it to cover his face, leaving only his eyes exposed.

After that, he began walking towards the door of the conference room. Clearly, he was leaving.

"What do you mean by what you have said? Are you trying to tell me that you will come to kill me later? How about we make a deal? I will give you half of the assets of the blood reapers syndicate, then you let me go?" Amos quickly spoke.

He could not understand what Jackson was implying with his words. But obviously, they were not good news,

Jackson might have plans of taking action against him later on, and despite fig his age, Amos was not tired of living. If not for the fact that currently, there were no methods that could be used to increase someone’s lifespan, he would have already gone for them.

Jackson totally ignored Amos, not bothering to say a word. Every time that he stood in front of his old man, he was reminded of what had happened because of the task that he had been given by him.

He was lucky that he had not died. This could be an opportunity, but it might as well be a source of disaster for him. Regardless of what happened next, he blamed Amos.

Amos did not have anything that he could do to stop Jackson. He was already lucky that Jackson did not directly kill him. But he felt anxious inside.

Just as he was wondering about what to do, a commotion came from the entrance, after the first one that was caused by Jackson’s exit.

Initially, Amos thought that Jackson was coming back. But when he looked over, his face went pale.
