Chapter 398: New Arrangements
After the incident involving Margaret and Rachel, the two ladies, Kate and Carol, were no longer in the mood to continue shopping.
For Kate, she wanted to go back and train. She had realized, there was quite a number of people that were eyeing Michael. If she was not careful, he might end up being snatched away from her.
Even though she believed in Michael, she understood that there was a need for her to put in the effort. Michael had already given her the support, by giving her an ability, now, she had to make sure that she reached the maximum potential of the ability that she had.
On the other hand, Carol also understood that it seemed that she would have to put in some effort as well. At the moment, with the support from Michael, she did not face much pressure at the company.
Most of the resources in the company were directed towards her, and even the two days off, despite causing some problems, the company was able to take it.
But what would happen if there was a time that those people were no longer intimidated by Michael? Or maybe, another force came in, and she could not handle them?
Carol understood that Michael had already helped her a lot. She was not the type that would continuously stick around someone, continuously asking for their assistance.
For some of the things that she could handle, she would definitely do it herself. As for those that were difficult to deal with, she would work hard and try to find methods of dealing with them.
Previously, when she was asking for Michael’s help to deal with the situation at the company, it was because she really had no any other way out. At least, ask compared to Julius, Michael was definitely much more reliable.
Initially, she had been wondering about how she was going to repay Michael. It was not just about the help that he had given her at the company, but also for the lessons that she was receiving from Adrian.
But as she came to know Michael better, she realized, there was literary nothing but she could offer Michael in return for his assistance.
Beauty? Michael had such a beautiful and protective girlfriend, who was obviously his age. Why would he care about her, who was older?
As for music, considering her skills, when compared to Michael’s level, she was no different from a middle schooler being compared to a professor.
In the end, Carol came to accept the situation. She could not help now, but maybe in the future, she might be of assistance. The only thing that she could help out with was maybe doing some advertisements?
Michael could easily spend money in order to be able to get some of the top stars to be ambassadors of his companies and their products.
But she believed, if she also reached a very high level of popularity, if Michael needed someone for something like that, she could do it for free. That money might not be much for Michael, but at least, she would feel that she had done something.
Michael on the other hand had no qualms on the two ladies deciding to go back. Carol had already decided that she was leaving the city, going back to the company.
As for Kate, she was intending to go back to Brenton city. But Michael stopped her, telling her that he could install a training chamber for her here in the capital.
The best thing about the system was the fact that, for something like the installation of the training chamber, Michael did not need to personally be there.
As long as it was an item that was purchased from the system store, it could be delivered anywhere that Michael wanted. For the installation, there was another requirement, that was, the place of the installation should be Michael’s property.
And of course, nobody was supposed to be present inside the place where the installation was going to happen. Otherwise, they would definitely be disintegrated into dust.
Therefore, on the way back to the mansion, Michael made a call through Onyx. He informed Andrew, the Butler, to clear out the basement of the mansion.
The mansion had two underground levels. They contained a large garage, a storage room, staff quarters, and a security center.
Obviously, the staff quarters, the security center and the storage room were on the 1st level, just below the first floor. Going lower, that was where the garage was.
Michael had not thought much about this when he instructed Andrew about clearing the basement. But when he thought about it, he changed his mind.
Therefore, he asked Andrew not to bother with that. It would take a lot of people to be able to clear out the basement. That was especially for the security center and the staff quarters.
Instead, Michael decided to purchase a villa that was located not far away from the mansion. He thought, the installation of the training chamber would definitely raise some questions.
Michael could obviously use some methods in order to be able to alter the memories of those that might have noticed something, but he preferred not to do that.
Therefore, he just used some 403 SP, to purchase the villa. It was quite coincidental, but that villa was yet to be occupied, with the previous owner having already vacated recently.
According to Onyx, the villa had already been purchased by someone else, but the new owner was yet to move in.
Of course, the system did not consider things such as if the other party wanted to sell or not. Even Michael did not understand how the system acquired some of these properties.
In any case, every time that he wanted to acquire anything, as long as it was available within the system store, with enough SP, Michael could acquire it.
It was kind of complicated, almost the same situation with Vanguard corporation. Michael was not sure if the system was using some kind of mind manipulation or memory alteration, but Dwayne, the founder of Vanguard corporation, had been dealt with the same way.
That guy, he was obviously unwilling to sell his shares to someone else. But somehow, after Michael completed the purchase, Dwayne contacted him.
Apparently, somehow, the guy had been convinced, with an agreement being reached that he would continue being the CEO of Vanguard corporation. While Michael would make all the major decisions regarding the future of the company, but Dwayne would also participate in the management.
It was quite a simple task for Michael to complete the purchase of the Villa, before spending 3,065 SP, to purchase yet another training chamber, which was directly installed in the villa, after Michael confirmed through Onyx that there really was nobody in the villa.
The villa was modest compared to the neighboring grand mansion purchased by Benson. But, it was still valued at approximately $40.3 million. Much of its value came from the land itself, as properties in the residential district were among the most expensive in the nation.
After they got back to the mansion, Michael informed Kate about the arrangement that he had made. He told her the location of the villa, and made arrangement so that she would get the access card of the villa.
The group was just entering the living room of the mansion when suddenly, someone got to Kate, before embracing her.
Kate had not noticed anyone approaching her. She only realized that there was someone that was embracing her when she felt something touching her.
Instinctively, she reacted, wanting to attack the person who had just held her. She could clearly feel that it was not Michael.
But before she could strike, she suddenly felt a sense of familiarity. This immediately left her dumbfounded as she gazed at the person that was embracing her.
"You... When did you arrive? And, can you stop acting sneakily like this? You know, I almost attacked you." Kate asked, a little exasperated.
She felt quite thankful that she had not immediately attacked. Otherwise, the consequences could have been unimaginable.
Letting go of Kate, Lina smiled mischievously as she asked, "Hey, how can you blame me? We agreed that I would stay with you for quite a while, while you show me around the city. Then what happened?
The moment you arrived, you went to surprise your boyfriend. After that, you went home to see your parents, and then completely forgot about me.
To make matters worse, you had the audacity to leave the city, leaving me alone!"
Kate could clearly feel the dissatisfaction in Lina’s voice. She was obviously not happy with the fact that she had been abandoned in Brenton city.
Kate was left embarrassed when he was reminded about this. With the way that her relationship with Michael had progressed, she had actually forgotten about Lina.
She was so much engrossed in getting stronger and spending time with Michael, that she forgot about the agreement that she had with Lina.
Even though it had already been revealed that Lina was someone that Michael had sent to protect her, a promise was still a promise. And clearly, Lina’s feelings were genuine.
"Ah..." This time, Kate was not really sure how she was supposed to respond. She turned to look at Michael, only to realize that Michael had somehow ’disappeared’.
As for Carol, she was just watching from the side, a small smile on her lips. Clearly, she was also finding the situation funny.
"I have a plan, I don’t know if you are willing to go through with it? But you should know, if you agree, you will have to be away from your sweetheart for a while." Seeing that Kate could not respond, Lina spoke.
