Chapter 227: Elaine’s Prowess-2

Uriel’s foot raised, stamping heavily into the chest of his foe, crushing the bones of the alien’s chest, causing it to cave in the air and sending its sorry frame flying.

Giving his foe no chance of reprieve, he reached for his spear from his back. Crackling currents jumped from his tight grip, channeling into the rod and gathering at the blade as he sent it flying.

Bzzzzt!

With a speed that surely crossed the boundary of sound, the spear tore through the air, leaving a trail of a small crackling vacuum tunnel in its wake.

The spear tore through the Treant’s frame before its back could even make contact with the earth, plunging down its chest and skewering it to the ground.

A burst of current tore through the Treant’s innards. The poor soul wanted to harness the energy of the earth to redirect the charge.

But its very energy nodes were violently shredded.

The Treant struggled as it tried to grab the spear, only for a far more deadly current to burn both limbs black.

"No—" it managed to let out a short, pathetic squeal before the charge reached its head. Its wide eyes filled with fear, burnt into crisps by the deadly voltage, leaving behind two smoking holes.

Its brain long fried, the Origin Gate simmered, swallowing its frame. Lingering items and treasures spilled as the body vanished with a bright milky-gold burst of light.

Uriel squinted from the light. Glancing at his spoils, he felt neither excitement nor disappointment.

His stats were in the five hundreds on average, making him a mid-stage Awakened. And as a Monarch-grade figure, even if his foe was at the advanced stage, as long as they were two grades below him, victory was no suspense.

He didn’t even give the poor creature the time to use its class. Though he was curious, he didn’t mind the easy kill.

Packing his spoils, he made note of a few essence crystals and quite a lot of items. He chuckled to himself, a rare smile gracing his lips. "Rich."

As stated, once one died in the Origin Realm, all items acquired during that session would be dropped upon demise.

And that was precisely what Uriel had just gained—not loot drops.

Stuffing them all into his inventory, he felt a cold wind wash over him.

His head turned to the direction of Elaine’s presence, and without wasting time, riding current, he zipped into the distance.

Not that far—Elaine was merely a block away—so within split seconds he was upon a building, getting a clear view of her battle.

His gaze narrowed as he felt the chilling presence of his friend’s foe. Compared to the weakling he had just faced, Uriel could tell this enemy was on a whole other level.

’She must be at the peak stage of Awakened rank,’ he thought, feeling wary.

And also, he squinted. How come Elaine was facing five figures?

He felt the urge to lend Elaine a hand, but seeing how composed she was, he figured she would be able to handle it.

In fact, she didn’t give off any form of unsteady essence flares he expected from someone drunk.

Unknown to Uriel, being forced to utilize her essence to the max had forced the Star Dew Nectar residing in her system to be processed into a raw invigorating force.

Elaine felt her cells suddenly tingle with life, the short pang of exhaustion she had felt fading in an instant, replaced with a raging tide of fresh recovered energy.

Her lips curled into a smile as she glanced at her foe, who seemed to be burning with a massive flow of verdant energy, screaming in rancor.

Feeling the raging current of energy, Elaine could tell immediately there was no way she would be winning a 5 v 1.

Well... it was a good thing her foe wasn’t the only one who didn’t like to play fair.

Elaine’s eyes pulsed with an unnatural glow as a crown of Prussian blue encircled her hair.

Her armor glowed a darker shade of blue, almost as though tinted with darkness. For the first time in her existence, Elaine channeled her class: Dread of Winter.

Her staff cracked and peeled in shards as a darker, more sinister scepter revealed itself into her grasp.

Unlike one would think, though her class was an upgraded path of the necromancer path, it was unlike her gene skill which let her raise the dead.

No, this was fundamentally different but almost similar. It allowed her to summon frost demons from the Ninth Floor of the Abyss—the Frozen Hell!

Now she had two class skills: one called Frost Wraith Summon, and the other called Cryo Chains.

Meanwhile, while Elaine was undergoing this palpable change, her foe turned her way.

All five constructs, akin to tree-men sculpted from both wood and emerald, their eyes burned red with fury as Shaine’s consciousness brewed within.

The earth cracked beneath their feet. All five attempted to launch themselves forward, but Elaine caught sight of this and acted.

Her staff thrummed with a thick Prussian glow. She whipped it out, casting a class skill...

Shaine suddenly felt a huge dip in might, her essence dwindling as cold, heavy binds appeared around all five frames, coiling them with a cold prickling chill.

Cryo Bind! A restriction/debuff skill.

Sliding backwards through the ice, Elaine’s gaze flashed cold as a sheet of ice crept across the literal intangible folds of space.

Bearing no regard for exhaustion, she poured her essence into the second class skill in a frenzy... Frost Wraith Summon.

A skill that allowed her to summon Frost Wraiths in numbers that depended on the amount of essence units expended.

With 20 units for one, Elaine burnt a hundred without blinking...

Shaine sensed the danger, and she struggled to get out of the freezing binds that locked her in place. Her essence raged with the cold waves. Slowly gaining movement, she hurried to push to escape.

But at that very second, the sheets of ice cracked and slowly crumbled into cold crystal flakes as a silhouette from within extended a pristine white claw, grabbing the head of one of the five constructs.

If Shaine could make expressions, she would have burst into a scowl as she cursed, "Shit!"
