Chapter 141: The Bloodbornes

The atmosphere remained silent for a few more seconds, both the Bloodborne and humans uncertain how to react...

The Bloodborne were about a dozen or so, and from the aura radiating from their frames, they were all definitely Awakened.

Seth’s gaze narrowed. He was sure there were more, but why had only this few appeared?

The earth quaked and groaned... as a blinding wave of crimson burned from the distance.

"HOW DARE YOU!!!" The voice rode the wind, echoing with such intensity that the eardrums of the weaker cult members ruptured, blood streaming from their ears.

Seth’s gaze slowly turned toward the direction of the heart-palpitating aura.

Behind him, the other Bloodborne finally reacted, a shuddering might oozing from their frames.

"Oi, he’s not alone, you know!" Flames of blue ignited in a blinding wave as Brandon streaked through the air, appearing right behind Seth, facing the other Bloodborne.

This was a chance for the group to feel out how strong these other races could be, and they’d be damned if they missed it!

Suddenly blinding currents surged, revealing a figure with cold grey eyes.

And from another angle, a colossal shadow cast as a figure slowly enlarged in height, crimson glyphs pulsing across his skin.

Seth included, all four radiated auras on par with or even fiercer than the Bloodborne.

A streak tore through the horizon, and the one named Kaiden appeared, on the side of his face a burning imprint of a palm.

"You..." he pointed at Seth, "who do you serve!"

In his eyes, the only way a human could get so strong was through the help of another race.

’Definitely had to be those mutts,’ he hissed internally, his eyes flashing cold.

Seth’s head tilted. "Me? Well, I serve myself!"

Kaiden’s gaze became even more frigid, his aura tearing through space. "Whatever. Once I rip your head off your shoulders, your master will come knocking!"

His figure flashed, a blood sword congealing in his hands. He sliced through the wind, aiming for Seth’s neck!

Seth’s eyes were cold and unmoved. His lips moved. "Equip!"

Clang!

Sparks ignited, but the blade was deflected, sending Kaiden reeling...

"You’re not the only one with badass armor, you know." Seth’s voice echoed from the grim gothic visor.

The great sword in his grasp was already moving, his will tearing through the wind, and his figure flashed.

The skin of the Bloodborne prickled with danger as a sinister aura shed from Seth’s frame...

Hands still numb, Kaiden mobilized his sword to parry, but the moment both weapons met, his crumbled.

Kaiden’s eyes bulged wide! That was one of the greatest items of their race, crafted by the greatest bloodsmith. But before Seth’s sword, it might as well have been made of porcelain.

The other Bloodborne, seeing this, couldn’t just stand by and watch their leader get thrashed!

Their frames ignited, and they moved, the other three humans stepping in to impede them.

But fortunately, the Bloodborne had the numerical advantage. No matter how the three tried, they couldn’t obstruct them all.

So three figures blitzed unimpeded toward Seth, eyes cold, blood lights flashing around them, weapons congealing from nothing.

A spear, a bladed whip, and a mace — all three converged around Seth, their auras flaring, weapons arcing through the wind.

For a moment, it almost seemed as though Seth was overwhelmed. From all sides their auras stacked, overshadowing his. By every sense and logic, he was outnumbered, and his foes were stronger...

Royal purple sparked. The armor on Seth’s body rattled, the essence of the world converged.

It didn’t matter if they merged the blood world or whatever into this region. The fact remained that this was still earth.

And Seth? He was the world’s Saint!

Bang!

A towering royal purple sheen tore through the skies, weapon resonance revving with full splendor.

Essence caved around him, funneling into his very being. His sword moved, his body in tandem.

And in that split second, a circular arc drew...

"Huh?" Eyes bulging, the three Bloodborne suddenly found their strength failing them. They looked down, and a blood-red line drew straight through their abdomens.

Spurt!

Blood bloomed, and both halves fell from the sky...

"Puny human, die!!!" Kaiden was back, but he looked nothing like before.

At least previously they bore human similarities, but now none of those features remained.

His skin had crusted into grey scales, his eyes tearing wide, along with his lips which stretched all the way to the sides of his head, revealing glinting rows of teeth.

Elongated claws stretched, and a tail ripped out of his armor. His crimson hair remained more like a halo than fiber strands...

Seth stared at the Bloodborne, his gaze narrowing. Somehow he knew, ’This is their true form.’

The glistening suspended droplets of blood in the air moved. Kaiden roared, and the blood orbited him in a swirling storm.

His aura skyrocketed. Weak Blood Order members below began to explode one after the other, their blood racing through the air, drawn into the tempest.

Seth grimaced as the aura progressed beyond a threshold that made even him wary.

Below, on the earth, the three he assumed dead slowly had their severed halves pulled together by strings of blood.

Their skin slowly crusted into grey scales...

A steamy breath exhaled from Seth’s visor... his grip on the weapon tightened.

Kaiden’s frame flashed...

’Fast!’ Seth acknowledged, his expression going grim beneath the visor, his essence channeled through the blade in his hands.

His heart slowly thumped. Contrary to what his facial expressions relayed, Seth was excited.

For one, being able to fight at full power without fearing the world crumbling to his might.

Then there was also the acknowledgment — these guys were strong, absurdly so...

They were a worthy challenge!

A thrill pumped through his veins, his heart hammering from palpitating excitement. His blade clashed with the Bloodborne.

His teeth clenched as a torrential force ripped through his muscles, but boundless vitality surging allowed him to hold.

A tail ripped across his breastplate, cracking against the cold black steel of his armor.

The armor swallowed 70% of the damage, but his body received the rest, sending him flying.

His figure spun uncontrollably in the air, and before he could gain his bearings, his foe’s shadow cast, both arms raised, and with a furious heave...

Crack! Boom!

Seth was sent straight to the earth, his frame barreling deep into the soil from the sheer force.

Bones cracked, organs ruptured, but boundless vitality erased them all.

He quickly flew out of the steaming pit, only to see his foe wasn’t singular anymore — they were now four.

Seth licked the blood on his lips, fear absent from his gaze. "This will be fun..."
