Chapter 165: Chapter 165: Damon Vs Kai [4]

Kai’s golden light exploded outward.

He raised both hands above his head.

A massive spear of condensed light formed above him, growing larger and larger until it blotted out the sun. The entire arena fell into shadow.

"This is the end, Damon Arcknight!"

The spear pulsed with power. Cracks spread across the remaining barrier fragments.

Disciples scrambled backward. Elders raised their hands, reinforcing what was left of the protective formation.

"Golden Sun’s Judgment!"

Kai hurled the spear downward.

It descended like a falling star, trailing golden fire. The air itself screamed as it tore through the atmosphere.

The ground beneath Damon’s feet began to crack and splinter from the pressure alone.

Damon looked up.

The dust from his breakthrough still swirled around him. Lightning flickered in the vortex above his head. The crowd was still reeling from his revelation.

Then Damon reached into his storage ring.

His fingers closed around a familiar hilt.

The Chaos Devourer.

The moment his skin touched the black metal, the sword hummed. It recognized him. It welcomed him.

Damon then drew the blade.

The dust and lightning around him thickened, obscuring his movements.

To anyone watching, it looked like he was simply bracing for impact.

The swirling vortex of spiritual energy masked everything.

The Chaos Devourer emerged from its sheath.

Damon held it with both hands.

The sword was heavy. Not physically heavy, but spiritually heavy. It carried the weight of something ancient, something that existed before the world was born.

He pointed the tip at the descending spear.

"Chaos Slash."

With a refined, fluid motion that belied the immense power coursing through his veins, Damon swung the Chaos Devourer in a wide, lethal arc.

He moved with the predatory grace inherent to the Blood of the Incubus Lord, his jet-black hair whipping around his striking, handsome features.

He did not rely solely on the raw, ancient darkness of the sword to answer Kai’s arrogance.

Instead, he reached into the depths of his Dantian, tapping into the volatile, crackling energy of his core.

Simultaneously, he funneled the entirety of the Heavenly Tribulation Lightning Art through the blade’s hilt.

The weapon resonated, glowing with a terrifying intensity as it acted as a conduit for a force that defied the natural order of the cultivation world.

Blue lightning erupted from the sword, wrapping around the black edge. The two forces merged, creating something that had never existed before. Chaos and tribulation, intertwined.

The slash shot upward.

To the crowd, it looked like a massive bolt of blue lightning.

That was all they saw.

A single, impossibly thick column of blue lightning rising from Damon’s position, shooting straight up into the sky.

It met Kai’s Golden Sun’s Judgment head-on.

There was no explosion.

The lightning simply... erased the spear.

The golden light vanished. Not dispersed. Not deflected. Erased. It was as if the spear had never existed at all.

The lightning continued upward.

It punched through the clouds, creating a perfect circle of clear sky. The sun shone through the hole, casting a single beam of light down onto the arena.

Then the lightning curved.

It arced downward, following Damon’s will, and struck Kai directly.

Kai didn’t even have time to scream.

The lightning engulfed him. His golden armor, forged from his family’s sacred techniques, turned to ash in an instant. It flaked away, carried off by the wind like dust.

Kai’s body flew backward.

He crashed through the already-shattered barrier, through the outer wall of the arena, through three stone pillars, and finally embedded himself in the cliff face on the far side of the sect grounds.

Smoke rose from his body. His robes were gone. His skin was blackened. He hung limp, unconscious, completely defeated.

Silence.

The arena was dead silent.

No one moved. No one spoke. No one even breathed.

The only sound was the wind, and the faint crackle of residual lightning dancing around Damon’s blade.

Damon stood at the center of the destruction.

The Chaos Devourer was already back in his storage ring. In its place, he held the wooden sword again, as if nothing had happened.

As if he hadn’t just erased a Heavenly Spirit Realm cultivator’s ultimate attack with a single strike.

He looked around at the stunned crowd.

"So," he said. "Do I win?"

Elder Alder stood frozen at the edge of the platform. His mouth opened and closed several times, but no words came out.

Sect Leader Hector rose from his seat.

His eyes were locked on the spot where Kai had been standing.

The golden armor was gone. The spear was gone. Everything was gone.

He turned to Damon.

"What... was that?"

Damon shrugged.

"Lightning."

"That was not just lightning."

"It was lightning infused with my sword technique. I call it Lightning Slash."

Sect Leader Hector stared at him.

"You call it Lightning Slash."

"Yes."

"That was not a Lightning Slash."

"It was."

"That attack erased a Heavenly Spirit Realm Fourth Level’s ultimate technique."

"Yes."

Sect Leader Hector opened his mouth to argue, then closed it. He looked at the hole in the clouds.

He looked at the cliff face where Kai was embedded.

He looked at the ash that had once been Kai’s armor, still floating in the air.

He sat back down.

"Winner," he said, his voice hollow. "Damon Arcknight."

The crowd erupted.

Not cheers. Not applause. A chaotic roar of disbelief, shock, and fear. Disciples shouted over each other, trying to understand what they had just witnessed.

"Did you see that?!"

"It was just one attack!"

"He erased Kai’s ultimate technique!"

"That lightning... I’ve never seen lightning like that!"

Ariel was on her feet.

Her hands covered her mouth. Her eyes were wide, wet with tears she didn’t realize she was shedding.

Mio let out a long breath.

"Motherfucker."

Mia nodded. "Yeah."

Selene stood at the edge of the VIP section, her hands gripping the railing so hard her knuckles turned white.

’He’s been holding back this entire time.’

She thought back to their sparring sessions.

The way he moved. The way he parried. The way he never seemed to be trying.

’He could have destroyed me whenever he wanted.’

Mei Nightrider watched from the shadows, a slow smile spreading across her face.

"Interesting boy indeed."

Damon stepped off the platform.

He walked past the stunned disciples, past the frozen elders, past the gaping servants.

He stopped in front of Ariel.

"Told you I’d win."
