Chapter 164: Chapter 164: Damon Vs Kai [3]
Kai stared at his empty, bleeding hands.
The spear, once a lethal extension of his will, lay abandoned on the cold stone floor between them—a silent, rusted testament to his utter failure.
Where there had been poise and precision, there was now only the frantic, unsteady heaving of Kai’s chest as he stared at the weapon, his mind struggling to reconcile the reality of his defeat.
The silence that blanketed the arena stretched taut, thick as cooling wax, muffling the distant murmurs of the stunned crowd.
It was a vacuum of sound where only the frantic rhythm of heartbeats echoed.
And then, deep within the fractured psyche of the defeated, something in Kai’s eyes shifted.
The frantic desperation began to calcify into something far more dangerous, a dark, jagged resolve reflecting in eyes that no longer looked at Damon, but through the very fabric of his existence.
"You..."
His voice was low. Barely a whisper.
"You think you’ve won."
Damon tilted his head.
"I think I’ve made you drop your weapon. That’s a start."
Kai’s lips curled into a smile that didn’t reach his eyes.
"You don’t understand."
He raised his hands. The blood on his palms began to glow.
A golden light, faint at first, then brighter. Hotter.
The temperature in the arena spiked.
"Kai Reventon, what are you doing?" Elder Alder’s voice cut through the tension.
"The match is not over, but if you attempt a forbidden technique, I will—"
"Stay out of this, Elder."
Kai’s voice, once merely desperate, now resonated with a fierce, unstable intensity that grated against the very air.
It was a guttural sound, vibrating with the raw desperation of a man who had finally discarded the last vestiges of his sanity in pursuit of a hollow victory.
The golden light, hungry and volatile, bled from his palms like molten lava seeking release.
It surged rapidly, twisting into roiling patterns that surged upward along his forearms, searing the fabric of his robes and turning his skin into a conduit for a terrifying, borrowed power that threatened to consume him from the inside out.
To his chest. His entire body began to glow, veins of molten gold crawling across his skin like cracks in a dying star.
His cultivation surged.
Heavenly Spirit Realm - Second Level.
Heavenly Spirit Realm - Third Level.
Heavenly Spirit Realm - Fourth Level.
The pressure exploded outward.
The barrier around the arena groaned. Cracks spiderwebbed across its surface. Disciples in the front rows stumbled back, gasping for air under the weight of his aura.
Sect Leader Hector rose from his seat.
"Life-Burning technique. He’s sacrificing years of his lifespan for a single strike."
Mei’s eyes narrowed.
"That’s forbidden. The Reventon family will have to answer for this."
"The match is still ongoing," Sect Leader Hector said quietly.
"We cannot intervene unless Damon give up."
All eyes turned to Damon.
He stood at the center of the arena, his black robes whipping in the wind created by Kai’s rising power.
His wooden sword hung at his side. His expression was calm.
Ariel gripped the railing. "Damon..."
Mio’s hand tightened on her bow. "He’s not going to give up, is he?"
Mia shook her head. "No. He’s not."
Kai’s body was now fully engulfed in golden light.
His eyes had turned white, pupils burning like twin suns. His voice echoed, layered with power that cracked the stones beneath his feet.
"This strike will erase you from existence, Damon Arcknight. There will be nothing left."
Damon sighed.
"You know, I was hoping to keep this hidden for a while longer."
Damon closed his eyes for a fleeting heartbeat, his breathing rhythmic and steady.
He allowed his consciousness to sink inward, finding the delicate, hidden threads of his true essence and simply pulling them loose.
With a soundless, internal exhale, he let go of the constraints he had woven around his aura.
The layers of the Polymorph ability shattered instantly, splintering like fragile glass under the immense pressure of his true, dormant power.
Fragments of the deception vanished into the void, leaving behind nothing but the stark, terrifying reality of his potential.
The aura of a First Level Earth Spirit Realm cultivator peeled away, revealing a fraction of the real one.
The true cultivation base that Damon had been hiding for a long time finally out but only some of it.
Earth Spirit Realm - First Level.
Earth Spirit Realm - Second Level.
Earth Spirit Realm - Third Level.
Earth Spirit Realm - Fourth Level.
The spiritual energy in the arena went wild.
It wasn’t a gentle release. It was an explosion.
A cyclone of pure Qi erupted from Damon’s body, spiraling upward and outward in a massive vortex that swallowed the entire arena.
The barrier, already cracked from Kai’s pressure, shattered completely.
Spiritual energy howled through the stands.
Disciples grabbed onto railings, onto each other, struggling to stay upright. Elders raised their own barriers to protect themselves.
The cyclone grew.
It reached the clouds, spinning faster and faster, pulling spiritual energy from the surrounding mountains.
The sky darkened. Lightning flickered in the swirling mass.
At the center of it all stood Damon.
His black hair whipped around his face. His golden eyes glowed with an intensity that matched Kai’s burning white. His robes billowed like wings.
He raised his wooden sword.
"Earth Spirit Realm - Fourth Level."
The words carried through the chaos, clear and steady.
"You’re not the only one with secrets, Kai."
The crowd erupted.
"Earth Spirit Realm - Fourth Level?! He was hiding his cultivation!"
"He broke through in the middle of the match!"
"That cyclone... I’ve never seen spiritual energy move like that!"
Sect Leader Hector stood frozen, his eyes locked on the vortex.
"He was hiding his true cultivation this entire time."
Mei smiled. "Interesting boy."
Selene, watching from the VIP section, felt her heart race.
’He was even stronger than I thought.’
Ariel’s eyes were wide. "He... he was holding back?"
Mio let out a breath. "That bastard. He didn’t tell us."
Mia grinned. "That’s our man."
Kai’s burning white eyes locked onto Damon.
The golden light around him flickered.
"Earth Spirit Realm - Fourth Level...?"
His voice cracked.
"You... you were hiding your cultivation? All this time, you were—"
"Playing with you?" Damon finished. "Yes."
Kai’s face twisted.
The golden light flared brighter, more unstable.
"It doesn’t matter! I still a Heavenly Spirit Realm! And you still Earth Spirit Realm!"
