Chapter 162: Chapter 162: Damon Vs Kai [1]

Kai moved first.

He didn’t waste time with Damon. He didn’t care about putting on a show for the crowd.

He wanted Damon broken, humiliated, and bleeding on the ground.

He opened his mouth and roared.

The sound wasn’t ordinary. It carried spiritual power, a concentrated wave of sound that rippled through the air like a physical force. The Golden Lion’s Roar was a Reventon family secret technique, passed down through generations, designed to paralyze the opponent’s nerves and shatter their concentration.

The wave slammed toward Damon.

In the VIP section, Mei’s eyes widened.

"That’s the Golden Lion’s Roar," she muttered. "If that hits him directly, his nerves will lock up. He won’t be able to move for minutes."

Selene gripped the armrest of her seat.

Hector leaned forward, his expression unreadable.

The wave struck Damon’s position.

But Damon wasn’t there.

He had flickered.

Eternal Darkness’s Broken Shadow Art allowed him to exist between moments, to phase in and out of reality like a ghost. The roar passed through him harmlessly, as if he were made of smoke.

Damon reappeared three meters to the left, his wooden sword still in hand.

The crowd gasped.

Kai’s eyes widened.

"What?"

Damon tilted his head.

"That was loud. But that’s all it was. Loud."

Kai’s face reddened with fury.

"You think you can dodge everything? I am a core disciple of the Azure Dragon Sect. I have techniques you can’t even imagine!"

He sheathed his spirit sword and reached into his storage ring.

The crowd leaned forward.

Kai pulled out a spear.

The weapon gleamed with a golden light, its shaft carved from a thousand-year-old Spirit Wood, its tip forged from Heaven Grade metal. The moment it appeared, the temperature in the arena dropped.

The spear radiated power.

Even the elders in the VIP section stirred.

"That’s a Heaven Grade weapon," one of them muttered.

"The Reventon family really spared no expense for him."

"With that spear, Kai’s combat power doubles."

Kai spun the spear in his hand, the tip tracing arcs of golden light in the air.

"This is the Golden Sun Spear," he said, his voice cold.

"It was forged for the Reventon heir. It has killed Earth Spirit Realm beasts in a single thrust. It has pierced through Heavenly Spirit Realm defenses."

He pointed the tip at Damon.

"And now, it’s going to pierce through you."

Damon looked at the spear, then back at his wooden sword.

He smiled.

"Nice spear."

Kai’s eye twitched.

"Is that all you have to say?"

Damon shrugged.

"It’s a nice spear. But it’s still just a weapon. And a weapon is only as good as the person wielding it."

Kai’s grip on the spear tightened.

"You insolent—"

He lunged.

The spear shot forward like a bolt of golden lightning, aimed directly at Damon’s chest. The air screamed as the tip tore through it, leaving a trail of golden light behind.

Damon didn’t block.

He flickered again.

The spear passed through empty air.

Kai spun, sweeping the spear in a wide arc, trying to catch Damon as he reappeared.

Damon flickered again.

And again.

Each time, the spear missed by inches.

Kai’s attacks grew faster, more aggressive. He thrust, slashed, and spun the spear like a whirlwind, covering every angle.

But Damon was always one step ahead.

He moved like a shadow, like a ghost, like something that didn’t belong to this world.

The crowd watched in stunned silence.

"How is he doing that?"

"That movement technique... I’ve never seen anything like it."

"He’s dodging a Heaven Grade spear with a wooden sword."

Kai stopped.

He was breathing hard, his golden eyes wild with frustration.

"Stand still!" he roared.

Damon appeared ten meters away, his wooden sword resting on his shoulder.

"Why would I do that?"

Kai’s knuckles turned white around the spear.

"Fight me properly! Stop running!"

Damon smiled.

"Who’s running?"

He took a step forward.

"I’m just waiting for the right moment."

Kai sneered.

"The right moment? You think you can defeat me with that piece of wood?"

Damon raised his wooden sword.

"I don’t think. I know."

Kai’s eyes narrowed.

"Then come and try."

Damon didn’t move.

He just stood there, wooden sword pointed at Kai, waiting.

Kai’s frustration boiled over.

He gripped the Golden Sun Spear with both hands and channeled every ounce of his spiritual energy into it.

The spear blazed with golden light, its power surging outward like a second sun.

"I’ll end this now!"

He thrust the spear forward.

The attack wasn’t just a thrust. It was a beam of golden light, a concentrated blast of spiritual energy that tore through the arena floor, carving a trench toward Damon.

The crowd screamed.

The elders stood up.

Damon watched the beam approach.

And then he raised the weathered wooden blade, his movements fluid and precise, embodying a lethality that belied the simple material.

He did not flicker with illusion or shadow; he stood his ground, rooted like an ancient mountain, unmoved by his opponent’s frantic, desperate charge.

He did not dodge, for to retreat would have been beneath his station as a future sovereign.

Instead, a faint, predatory glint ignited within his luminous golden eyes, calculated and sharp.

With a single, fluid motion that seemed to slow the passage of time itself, he swung the wooden sword out in a perfect, unerring arc.

The wooden blade met the golden beam.

And the beam split.

It parted around Damon like water around a stone, scattering into harmless golden sparks that fizzled out against the arena barrier.

The crowd went silent.

Kai’s jaw dropped.

"What...?"

Damon lowered his wooden sword.

"Nice attack."

He took a step forward.

"But not nice enough."

Kai’s hands trembled.

He had used everything. The Golden Lion’s Roar. The Golden Sun Spear. His full Heavenly Spirit Realm power.

And Damon had countered all of it with a wooden sword.

"How... how is this possible?"

Damon stopped walking.

He looked at Kai with calm, golden eyes.

"You rely too much on your family’s power. Your techniques. Your weapons. Your bloodline."

He raised his wooden sword.

"But you never learned how to fight for yourself."

Kai’s face twisted with rage.

"Shut up!"

He charged forward, spear raised, ready to strike.

Damon watched him come.

And then he moved.
