Chapter 222: Chapter 149: Your Sweetness Is Encrypted

As Shen Yuan reached for the potato chips, his hand suddenly brushed against warm skin.

Li Zhi’s hand was hovering over the chip bag, and Shen Yuan’s had landed right on top of hers.

In the dim blue light, their movements froze into a silhouette.

Li Zhi instinctively tried to pull her hand back, but in that instant, Shen Yuan’s fingers subconsciously tightened, gently clasping hers.

Li Zhi’s heart hammered as she quickly tried to pull her hand back, but Shen Yuan didn’t let go.

She glared at Shen Yuan.

"Let go!" Li Zhi’s voice held a note of urgency.

Shen Yuan seemed to snap out of it then. He slowly released her hand, a sly smile appearing on his profile, half-hidden in the shadows.

"I didn’t do it on purpose," he said in a low voice.

Seeing this, Li Zhi lightly kicked the leg of his desk and retorted, "If it wasn’t on purpose, then why did you hold on?"

In the projector’s glow, Shen Yuan’s smile was especially bright. He flashed a row of pearly whites and said, "I was just making sure I hadn’t caught a snack thief, you know."

Li Zhi scoffed at his words, clearly not buying his explanation.

"Fine, I won’t eat them then," Li Zhi said, sulking.

Seeing her reaction, Shen Yuan quickly waved his hands. "Hey, hey, hey, it was just a joke. Don’t be mad."

With a smile, Shen Yuan held the bag of chips and slowly leaned closer to Li Zhi. "Want me to feed you?" he asked softly.

His voice was gentle, yet held a hint of teasing.

Hearing this, Li Zhi frowned and answered bluntly, "I’d rather starve."

However, before the words had even left her mouth, Shen Yuan quickly picked up a chip and thrust it toward her lips.

"Open up."

"Who wants to eat that, mmph—" Li Zhi’s words were cut off by the chip. She stared at Shen Yuan, her eyes wide with astonishment.

Li Zhi hadn’t expected Shen Yuan to move so fast.

Shen Yuan looked at Li Zhi, a chip sticking out of her mouth. The corners of his lips curved into a faint smile. "You talk too much," he said.

Thoroughly exasperated, Li Zhi kept the chip in her mouth and shot Shen Yuan a fierce glare, her cheeks puffed out like an angry little squirrel’s.

In the silvery-blue glow, the beautiful girl finally leaned her head back against the mottled wall in a sulk. The fluffy ends of her hair brushed against the surface, making a few stray strands stick up.

Li Zhi, still sulking, held the chip that had been sneakily stuffed between her lips. Her tongue deftly curled around the salty, crisp chip, pulling it the rest of the way in.

Her cheeks quivered slightly as she chewed, letting out the occasional soft "CRUNCH."

In the dim glow, He Zhiyu was also leaning quietly against the wall, his astonished gaze fixed on the scene before him.

’The little author couldn’t quite believe this was happening right in front of him!’

’Have those two already reached the hand-holding stage?’

On the screen, after the ship left Miller Planet, a stunned Cooper and Amilia discovered that Romilly, who had stayed behind, had aged 23 years.

The ticking soundtrack intensified the cruelty of time’s passage.

As Cooper sat before his screen and saw that his daughter was now a grown woman, painful tears streamed down his face.

Shen Yuan looked at Li Zhi. "Do you think the little cats see us like that?"

Hearing this, Li Zhi turned her head with a puzzled look, meeting Shen Yuan’s gaze as she seemed to ponder his words.

Just then, Shen Yuan continued, "Just imagine it: an old cat-warrior looking at his forever-young elf foster mother. That would be quite a sight, wouldn’t it?"

At the thought of those two little white figures, a smile naturally bloomed on Li Zhi’s face.

However, Li Zhi had a different take on what Shen Yuan said.

The beautiful girl shook her head and retorted, "I don’t think so. The little cats don’t think like we do. They probably don’t even realize they’re growing up. In their eyes, they’re always kittens; they’d never think of themselves as grown-ups."

Li Zhi’s theory made Shen Yuan laugh. A faint smile appeared on his face, as if he somewhat agreed with her point.

"Hmm, you have a point. That’s an enviable way to be, for sure."

Shen Yuan turned to look at Li Zhi. "It’d be nice to stay a kid forever."

Li Zhi looked into Shen Yuan’s eyes. ’She knew exactly what he was thinking.’

The beautiful girl snorted softly. "Dream on."

Shen Yuan smiled and took a sip of his milk tea.

And in the row in front of Li Zhi, He Zhiyu also took a tactical sip of water.

The little author furtively watched the childhood sweethearts in the row behind him, the corners of his mouth, hidden in the shadows, rising into an irrepressible smile.

’Sigh...’

’This is way sweeter than anything in the movie.’

Just as He Zhiyu finished his water, he saw Shen Yuan looking at him with a knowing smirk.

The little author quickly averted his gaze back to the screen on the blackboard, looking incredibly guilty.

He then focused his attention back on the screen in front of him.

As the Ranger fell into the black hole, Cooper also found himself in a strange place.

When the screen showed Cooper inside the infinitely extending five-dimensional bookshelf after falling into the black hole, the overlapping wooden structures cast eerie shadows in the dim blue light.

Shen Yuan suddenly turned his head to gaze at Li Zhi. Sensing his eyes on her, she tilted her head slightly, stray wisps of her hair scraping against the wall.

"What?"

Shen Yuan’s finger tapped lightly against his milk tea cup, a smile spreading across his face at the edge of the shadows. "Just confirming the possible existence of a five-dimensional hypercube."

At that very moment, a soul-shaking wave of sound erupted from the multimedia system. Hans Zimmer’s organ score washed over the classroom like a tidal wave, building to a crescendo with the line:
