Chapter 422: Chapter 422: They Have Arrived
Sangze’s expression changed slightly. He suppressed his anger and hissed, "What are you trying to do now!"
"Idiot. Take your clothes off."
"You! Xixi is so tired, and you still want to mess with her? I won’t allow it!"
"Hah. Unbelievable."
In the end, Sangze’s clothes were torn off...
Qiao Xixi snuggled comfortably against his scorching chest, listening to his strong heartbeat, and slept with a deep sense of peace.
Qiao Xixi slept soundly. So soundly, in fact, that when she opened her eyes again, she found it was almost dark outside.
Sangze was no longer beside her, but the animal-skin blanket was still toasty warm. He must have left not long ago.
It was silent outside the shelter, without a single sound. Qiao Xixi felt a jolt of alarm. ’I slept too soundly,’ she thought. ’Did something happen without me even knowing?’
She scrambled up worriedly. Just as she was about to go out, she nearly ran right into Feiyan.
Feiyan quickly reached out and pulled her into his arms.
"You’re awake? Where are you rushing off to?"
Feeling the warmth of his palm, Qiao Xixi’s anxious heart finally settled.
"Did I sleep from last night until now? Is it the full moon already?"
Feiyan nodded and led her outside the shelter.
Qiao Xixi looked up, and her pupils constricted. "It’s a blood moon."
Feiyan’s expression was grave. "Yes. Jin Ling and the others have already gone to the river to prepare. You eat something first, then we’ll head over."
"Okay."
Qiao Xixi didn’t really have an appetite after sleeping so long, but she forced herself to take large bites. A tough battle lay ahead.
"Hasn’t Yun Ji come back?"
Feiyan shook his head. "No."
Qiao Xixi pressed her lips together. ’He’s not lying to me, is he?’
"WOO~!"
"AWOOO!"
Suddenly, the roars of monsters echoed in her ears, growing louder and louder. Even Qiao Xixi could feel the abnormal fluctuations in the air.
Feiyan scanned their surroundings, his entire body on high alert. From the moment the blood moon appeared, they had felt a powerful energy surging through the air, so intense it made the hairs on their bodies stand on end.
Qiao Xixi quickly finished eating and went to the river with Feiyan. From a distance, she could see Jin Ling standing there.
"Jin Ling, we’re here."
Hearing the sound, Jin Ling turned around.
"Xixi, we’re about to set off."
Qiao Xixi nodded. "Where are Xijing and the others?"
Jin Ling held up a glowing sea pearl for light and pointed at the water’s surface. "Clearing out the things in the water."
The words had barely left his mouth when Xijing and Sunxiao broke through the water’s surface one after another. The two came ashore, each clutching a handful of beast crystals.
Sunxiao looked at Qiao Xixi and said, "We haven’t found anything unusual in this area for now. Xixi, get on."
Qiao Xixi hummed in agreement and climbed onto Sunxiao’s long tail. The tail curled up and placed her on his massive serpentine head.
A wisp of black mist drifted over from behind them and solidified into Sangze’s form. "Let’s go. Nothing dangerous found behind us for the moment."
"Okay."
Xijing dove into the water, clearing the path at the very front.
Sunxiao carried Qiao Xixi in the middle, the formation exactly as they had discussed the previous night.
Sitting on Sunxiao’s head, Qiao Xixi looked up at the sky. The once-dark night was now a strange, deep red.
Savage roars constantly echoed in her ears, sending a chill down her spine.
「Meanwhile, outside the Watchtower, which was surrounded on all four sides by the Heavenly Pool, ten black shadows gradually became visible under the blood-red moonlight.」
"What’s going on? To think it’s a blood moon this time." The leading shadow looked up at the sky, his crimson, serpentine pupils cold and grave.
"Yun Ming, he’s likely found a substitute. A few of us will go into the forest. You all stay here and guard the Watchtower. This time, we absolutely cannot let Qiao Yi slip away."
"Go."
As soon as the word was spoken, five of the figures transformed into a black mist and vanished into the night sky with extreme speed.
At that moment, in the dark pools scattered throughout the forest, black water churned violently. One by one, sharp claws broke through the surface as monsters struggled to crawl out of the water.
"HISS!"
"ROAR!"
The beastmen still remaining in the forest watched the tide of monsters surge out, their faces draining of color.
"How did so many monsters suddenly appear in the forest? Where on earth are they coming from?"
"I... I want to leave this place! I want to get out! I’m not saving anyone anymore, I want out!"
Of the males who had survived since entering the Thunder-swallowing Forest, many had long since lost the courage they’d had at the start.
Watching their companions fall one by one, they had long wanted to retreat. But they couldn’t get out; they had no idea where the exit was!
In the largest black pool in the forest, Kunlin’s body slowly rose from the water, hovering in mid-air.
The dark red halo of light swirling around him was finally absorbed completely into his body.
He snapped his eyes open, his dark red pupils revealing an excitement for slaughter.
"The strongest blood moon! HAHAHAHA! This time, we will charge out of this forest and tear every last beastman in Beast King City to shreds! ROAR!"
"ROAR!"
The monsters that crawled out of the black pool excitedly charged into the forest with Yun Ming.
Yun Ming stared at the golden glow before him, spread his wings wide, and flapped them forcefully.
With a loud BANG, the barrier Yun Ji had woven with his beast soul was shattered in an instant.
"Hahaha! Yun Ji, I told you long ago that one day, you would no longer be able to stop me."
「At that moment, Yun Ji, who had just rushed back to the wooden cabin, staggered and fell to his knees.」
A shadow of weakness quickly fell over his fair, smooth face.
He clutched his chest. The pain from his depleted beast soul was almost unbearable, but what pained him even more was the empty cabin.
Qiao Xixi and the others were gone.
Yun Ji forced himself up and sensed the surrounding auras. He could feel the auras of other males, all of which were connected to her. Her beast-husbands had all arrived.
Yun Ji looked up at the blood moon. He was powerless to protect her now, but he would not break the promise he had made her.
Yun Ji spread his arms and chanted an incantation. Specks of light suddenly appeared in the air, rapidly converging on him.
The specks of light landed on him and merged with his body.
When he opened his eyes again, his light-colored pupils had suppressed his weakness. With a flash of movement, he flew swiftly toward the river.
Inside the Heavenly Pool, because Xijing and the others had cleared the way beforehand, Qiao Xixi’s group encountered no other trouble on their journey aside from a few easy-to-handle monsters.
Qiao Xixi figured it was likely because the Dark Energy Pools were mostly in the forest. Plus, with the deterrence of the beast guards’ beast souls in this area, not many monsters were able to survive.
If there were any, they could only be the inconspicuous ones that wouldn’t attract the beast guards’ attention.
Just as Qiao Xixi was thinking things were going relatively smoothly, Sunxiao and the others suddenly stopped, their bodies quickly turning in a certain direction.
Qiao Xixi looked over as well. It was pitch-black in that direction, with nothing to see.
"What’s wrong?"
Sunxiao’s body slowly began to sink, his indifferent voice laced with a cold, murderous aura. "They’re here."
